Remind what's good about having 2 boys

..friend upset me this morning by going on about how she couldn't bear the thought of having 2 boys and was so happy to have one of each, how her daughter was such a joy etc etc. I just feel so upset now, as I've always wanted a girl and have been trying to come to terms with having 2 boys, the second of which is very demanding and hard work. Sorry, more of a rant than anything, but I just feel so upset

I feel sorry for your friend's DS - "my daughter is such a joy blah blah", what about her DS?

I have 2 boys and was really hacked off that after DS2 was born quite a few people made sympathetic noises or even said "Oh bad luck" when I phoned to tell them of his arrival, when in fact I was thrilled to have another boy and love how they are already starting to interact. I foresee much happy romping in the mud, while I sit and drink coffee, being disturbed every now and then only for big bear hugs

Plus I now get to buy really have something of good quality. Shallow, moi?

Mind you, I can see us going through a washing machine or two before they leave home...

Erk, dunno wot happened there - was meant to say "Plus I now get to buy really nice clothes for DS1 on the grounds that DS2 will also wear them and so it is better to have something of good quality". No idea where that "Shallow, moi?" came from, either

Two boys........... how lovely......... teafortwo goes all weak at the knees!!!!

AWWWWWWWW - Two gorgous gorgous boys!!! Mmmmmm....

desperatelyseekingsleep...

My Nanna desperately wanted a girl and she got two boys... her lovley two boys (well I think they are lovely ) had girls (and one boy - thank God they had started to panic about the family name being lost - if you knew our name you would be really confused!!!) and so far she has one great Grand-daughter (my dd) too.

Just because you have just boys now doesn't mean you won't experience parenting girls in someway at some stage of your life. Hey - I bet you my bottom dollar you will parent at least one girl in someway!!!

BUT - a warning - girls are in no-way better than having boys... just different.... but I suppse it is good to try all the different flavours in life! My Nanna certainly loves all her boys and all her girls!

Here is a song to celebrate your boys...

I've got two boys and THEY ROCK.

They are cuddly, funny and don't play mind games. And not much pink crap anyway, though they are partial to a bit of glitter.

My cousin has three boys, all grown up now, but when they were wee, she took them walking in the Atlas mountains with her DH and their nanny. They were treated with great reverence and respect (I think the locals thought her DH had two wives AND 3 sons).

No HSM with boys?? Wish someone would tell my Troy and Chad that its for girls only then I don't need to watch it for the 8 millionth time.

I agree that lots of people (usually mums with girls only) seem to think that this is the default first choice for everyone. How could you ever say that you are disappointed that your child isn't different?

At least you never (well probably never) have to worry about your teen going out dressed like a hooker!

Gladders - might start encouraging them to be more interested in sports - Can't remember the last time I had a Saturday afternoon to myself (actually was it the weekend before I got pregnant!

I have 2 boys (twins) and expecting a 3rd DS, also have 2 girls. I was abit 'nervous' of having boys as I have no brothers etc but they are fab and I would never change them. My twin boys are quite rowdy but play nice together. My girls play together too. I must say that older girls (preteens grrr) seem much harder than boys too!! Maybe your friend is jealous, either way she is rude and insensitive, I have a friend like that and think she was jealous.

My 2 are pretty tall for their age so people think they are older - and therefore think I am too young to have such huge creatures as fruit of my womb

Plus I love feeling like Peggy Mitchell ''my Boys...''

MrsBoring...sometimes I wonder. But is is fun

Actually my other SIL who is a little strange and is a Mum of 2 Girls once said, "Oh girls are so much easier..." You know that type of conversation.... Well I can't wait until they get hormonal and have unsuitable boyfriends
