  • No food eaten in the lounge
  • No guinea pigs on the settees

  • Sanitary towels to go in the bin

  • Put shoes away when you take them off

These are rules screamed by me fairly frequently but mostly ignored...

surprisenumber3 · 30/09/2008 17:06

no food upstairs

no friends in my bedroom unless they've asked and I've agreed!

No fighting

Shoes go no further than the hall

No climbing on the sofas

MrsMattie · 30/09/2008 17:06

Remember to say 'please' and 'thankyou'

Wash your hands after you use the loo

Sit at the table to eat and clear away your plate when you leave (me and DH flagrantly abuse this rule when DS has gone to bed! eek!)

No running in the house

No kicking a ball in the house

Ask if you want something to eat or drink (we have a fruit cupboard DS can help himself to, but got sick of catching him standing on a chair to get to the biscuits!)

Safety rules - no touching the kettle / the oven / knives / cleaning products etc

Ummm...that's about it for our 3 yr old son. He doesn't always follow these rules, mind you.

We have a few rules for our whole family.

Talk, don't shout.
A hug solves a lot of problems.
It's good to give things a try, even if you don't think you'll like them.
We don't say unkind things to each other - nobody is 'stupid', for instance.

But they're just our little family sayings that have evolved. We didn't write them down in a big rule book

shivermetimbers · 30/09/2008 17:07

strictly no saying "muuuuuuum" in a whiny voice, "its not fair" or "but everyone else has got one"

deanychip · 30/09/2008 17:08

please & thankyou..always and without exception.
no shoes
no throwing things
no hitting
telly off while we eat at the table as a family
that we always always try our best at whatever we do.

surprisenumber3 · 30/09/2008 17:10

oh yeah and everytime they use the loo I shout 'don't pee on the seat, flush the chain and wash your hands' because if I don't, they don't!

and that we always sit at the table to eat our evening meal, together.

boy · 30/09/2008 17:11

the rules are the rules !!! I dont know what they are !!!

Marne · 30/09/2008 17:14

hauschkahels · 30/09/2008 17:40

Don't say stupid -say silly
don't say hate- say don't like!

Be kind
don't shout
don't speak to someone from another room/upstairs- come into the same room!

GentleOtter · 30/09/2008 17:46

no swearing

no hands raised above the shoulder

'I want' never gets

speak to the person in the same room and no hollering

the lady on the back of any coins found is mummy and belong in her purse

go to bed the same day as you woke up

nose picking kills fairies

  3. No Smoking by anyone (this only applie to visitors really because none of the family smoke)
  4. No climbing the furniture
  5. No throwing

  1. Keep Calm and Carry On
  2. Don't be a Dingbat.

We're still looking for a third - ds's school has 3 rules and he things we should have 3 home rules as well, but we can't find one that isn't covered by 1 and 2!

It was Always Count your Change for a while, but it didn't really catch on.
