Well done, Izzy! Going forwards is some much more satisfying than backwards .

Connor has recently started going up stairs (why oh why did I teach him??) - I'm so glad we have a bottom stair gate, although I left it open the other day and DP found him nearly at the top, then had to sneak up to him really gently so he didn't startle him into falling off...) (...all was well but the gate stays closed now [sigh of relief!])

Littlepushka - we have veggie DCs as well (being veggie ourselves...)
(TMI alert: Perhaps the poo is a little looser as a result, I didn't really think too much about it...)

Are you over the hangover yet, Grrrl??

TattooedGrrrl · 07/10/2008 07:11

Chaotica- Dyl rubs the teletubbies faces then waves to them. When it finished he tries to catch the credits going across the screen! And yes, i am over the hangover

Very stressful here- builders are in kitchen and utility room, so have to put dog in the kids room. Kitchen is a tip, i underestimated how bad it would be, so had to send DH to chip shop for food last night, so i fed the kids rissoles and chips for tea I'm off work today and tomorrow, so they'll be stuck here all day with me in one room [hell emoticon] And it's raining! I think i'll take them on the bus to the supermarket, and hope George behaves. At least there's playgroup tomorrow.

Also had a hellish nights sleep- i went to bed at 8.30pm, didn't get to sleep until gone 10pm between George's dreaming / talking / crying, Dyl waking and DH snoring. So tired. I'm going to try an early night again tonight- ha!

Having the builders in grrrl sounds a knightmare! We had the bathroom refitted when Freya was little and it was very inconvenient (for some reason I thought it would be done in a few hours - not a few days!) Sounds like you are in definate need of that illusive early night too and hope you get it tonight

LP yes Izzy was doing the bunnyhopping thing too (and lots of rocking, and strangely enough lots of the same position as 'down dog' in yoga!) and then suddenly she just wanted Freya's cup and was determined to get it! We stopped the dreamfeed just before Iz was 9 months, because we went on holiday and it seemed the dreamfeed was actually waking her up as opposed to helping her sleep. So, when we came back I stopped it. At that time we were feeding her only 120mils anyway, and at 10pm so I was sure she would be fine. She did wake up for the next 2 nights about 11pm but she went back to sleep without us having to go in. Is was scary though! Is nice for DH and I to go to bed at the same time again, instead of one of left downstairs to do the dreamfeed etc. Good luck!

Hello everyone, thread moves way too fast for me!

Potty training still a no no here, every time dd1(2.6) even sees the potty, we get hysterics, 'No mummee, dd poos in nappy', oh dear, I'm right to wait aren't I? Otherwise it's just going to be (another!) almighty battle.

Dd2 still bum shuffling everywhere (16 months), and now referred to paeds for physiotherapy, because her feet are rolling outwards ( when she stands up, the sole of her left foot points to the wall!)

Like the idea of a barrier around the TV, my 2 practically hug the TV when it comes on (favourite things of dd's = daddy, tv,swings and slides, biscuits, the cat,oh and mummy (maybe))

Poowise, a friend took her little boy to HV with runny poos, and she said it was because he was getting too much fibre (she had to do a food diary), and he needed some stuff to stodge him up, not sure what though - I'll ask.

Off to playgroup, hope you all have a good day - it is wild and windy today, and dd1 is insisting on going out on her new buggy board - she'd better hold on tight!

oh loopsy- i hate days like that

OP posts:
Chaotica · 07/10/2008 16:39

Sorry to hear you're having such a crap time, Loopy. Did the tiredness (yours) come before the awkward DD1, or was it the other way around? I only ask because I had a hell of a day yesterday and it was probably because I was tired and had a headache and so every little toddler or baby thing wound me up I felt terrible for DD (and DS) even though they were just being their (ordinary) awkward selves...

Hi Hazeyjane! Sorry to hear about your DD2. And it sounds as if you're right to wait to potty train DD1. (Although eventually I guess you'll have to go cold turkey...) We went for the 'big girls do this...' approach and it worked (just about - see below).

Grrr. Just went to playgroup and spent most of the time changing the DC's clothes: DD had 2 accidents , and DS covered himself with water and paint from head to toe Glad I'm not in the mood I was in yesterday. Need a cup of tea desperately now. (And a shot of vodka.)

Chaotica · 07/10/2008 16:42

BTW Grrrl - hope you're surviving the builders. I spent a soul-destroying couple of days trying to entertain the DCs in the rain while DP painted the kitchen. But having anything fitted is so disruptive -- we had ours done when DD was little and still BF so it didn't really matter. And it was summer... How long have you got to put up with it?

TattooedGrrrl · 07/10/2008 18:05

until Friday i hope. We'll also be having windows fitted in about 3-4wks time, but DH will have to take time off and take us somewhere if it's the days i'm not in work. Have asked step MIL to wash some of the boys clothes as the machine is out and i'm running out of clothes. Killed some time at the local greasy spoon (very greasy!) today. DS1 ate a whole bacon sandwich and kept saying 'Bob' to every workman who came in!

OP posts:
Chaotica · 07/10/2008 18:09

Grrrl - LOl at 'Bob'!

Chaotica · 07/10/2008 21:49

Just surveying the wreck that is my living room and wondering whether anyone would possibly be able to work out that I'd tidied and cleaned this morning...

A forensics team, perhaps??

Dragonfly74 · 07/10/2008 22:59

Hi, I'm a newbie.
I have a ds who is 2+8yrs and a 29wk old dd. The last few months have been pretty tough as dd doesn't have daytime naps and still wakes 3 or 4 times for feeds through the night. She is going through the really clingy stage where I can't even leave the room without her whinging.
Ds has recently dropped his daytime nap and is a very early riser.. between 5 and 6am so i'm very tired. I have just sat down as I have to do all my housework once there in bed cus theres no chance when there both up.
I'm sure it will get better soon. x

TattooedGrrrl · 08/10/2008 06:59

hi Dragonfly. My DS2 wouldn't nap at all until he was about 9mths old, and DS1 has been up since 4.30am, so i understand! Welcome

I have 2 boys, 2ys & 4mths, and just over 11mths.

had a fab day yesterday- went for a walk, cafe for lunch, then playgroup.

crap night though- both boys woke twice each and George fell out of bed at one point, waking his brother. so tired Not sure if they are coming down with something though.

work today, which means i eat lunch in peace and get to listen to pod casts on my i-pod. And there's a new role coming up in work that i could do parttime, and i'm insanely qualified and experienced for, so fingers crossed.

Hope you all have good days!

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 09/10/2008 09:26

Glad you had a good day yesterday Grrl, I find the day is always better if we have lunch out, anything that avoids mealtime chaos!

We seem to all be coming down with colds (tis the season to be snotty...), so I was up with dd2 for a couple of hours last night, although i think she has canines coming through, and I remember that being a nightmare with dd1.

Hello Dragonfly74, my 2 (2.6 and 16 months) have been really bad sleepers, dd2 has just recently started to improve and now sleeps until 5.30/6 most nights. Dd1 has asthma so is up a lot coughing. Daytime naps seem to be pretty erratic, both only ever nap in pushchair, if at all! I empathise with your knackeredness, I have bags under my eyes the size of a small country.

Hope everyone has a good day.

simpson · 09/10/2008 13:45

Hi all

DS not very well today so is having a duvet day!!

Hope DD doesn't catch it...

Well the poo saga goes on...DS will now poo quite happily at my mum's house but we went back home for one night on tues and he refused to do it there and did 3 poos in pants

Hope everyone enjoying the nice weather....

Jewelsandgems · 09/10/2008 20:08

Meaning it is bloody broken and it's only use at moment is a doorstop Prob something with the BIOS and taking it to a expert tomorrow. Am on DH's work laptop that is sooo slow and I only get a chance to use it for like 5 mins so hopefully you will hear from me soon.B

Before I go simpson good to hear you spent a night at your home - fingers crossed all is settling down for your and your DH

god this trackpad is really sensitive and annoying

xx

Dragonfly74 · 09/10/2008 22:34

Hi everyone.
As if I wasn't tired enough, what with dd waking through the night for feeds and ds getting up before 6 every morning and demanding cbeebies and milk I thought things couldn't get any worse... But ds has also now decided that he's going to play up at bed time aswell which is really strange because since he's been in a bed we've never had this problem.
Tonight he has sat and screamed for a good half hour and i've had to return him to bed 4 times. I felt awful letting him cry but I stuck him out so hopefully tomorrow night will be better.
He's also started waking at around 3 in the morning and comes into mine and dh's room and when I take him back to bed he cries and wakes dd. So its a nightmare here at the minute. I'm soooo tired. Hope your all getting lots of sleep. xx

ChaCha · 09/10/2008 22:52

Hello everyone, i have posted on here before but don't usually have any time to catch up. Hoping to join you all again if that's ok.

I have 3 under 3: 2.9 years, 20 months and 10 weeks.

Dragonfly, interested in your post. My 20 month old (DS2) has also been waking at 3am - he talks for ages and won't go back to sleep, the other night i ended up taking him and his older brother (who he managed to wake with all his chatter) downstairs to play until 6.30am then we all went back to sleep! I thought he might be hungry - doesn't work, thirsty - doesn't work, really don't know what it's all about. Any ideas anyone?
Other than that will hope to post again next free time , thx

LittlePushka · 09/10/2008 23:57

Hello team!

LOL Simpson,...methinks you have got a bad case of poo envy with regard to DC performance at mothers house

Also LOL at Chaoticas house being visited by SOCO's peicing together what the place was like before all hell broke loose

This thread has been so lovely to read,..I am new to it like you Dragonfly but, it is so great to be surrounded by folk who are living the EXACT same way as me. Hurrah for you all!

Bad nights are now mercifully rare - but when we get one, we get a humdinger, like tonight plot goes like this (stop reading if it is all too familiar!):

  1. 2.1yr old DS1 wakes,crying, teething.
  1. Administer usual including explanation to DS why Mam cannot kiss the teeth better
.
  1. Nurofen not kicked in, DS1 unhappy with the lack of kissing better
  1. DS2 (7 months and sharing same room) woken up by bawling is terrified of brother bawling and counter-bawls.
  1. Mam comforts baby, puts down with a kiss, DS1 claims favouritism in guise of screams pitched high enough to entice whales up the River Derwent to breed.
  1. DS2 terrified of prospect of whales also screams.
  1. Mam sat in midle of room thinks it feels like illegal interrogation technique of child terrorist group.
  1. DH starts snoring.....

and so on .....GOTTA LOVE 'EM!!

LittlePushka · 10/10/2008 00:25

PS

  1. Dog suddenly clings to Mams knees on account of howling wind outside, making trip to toilet/fridge/wine cellar (as if!) impossible
Chaotica · 10/10/2008 00:30

Evening All, welcome Dragonfly and hello again ChaCha (no wonder you don't post so much - don't think that a 3 under 3 thread would last very long)

Wish I could answer your sleep problems, but I never seem to know what's up. DD goes through stages of screaming at night, but we've never worked out what the problem is (unless it's really obvious like an ear infection or teeth or just being over-tired). DD seems confused about it suddenly being dark at night too... Both of them have had phases of waking at 3am and refusing to sleep - I think I just think that's what babies do (and so far, I've been lucky as they've all stopped soon enough...)

Chaotica · 10/10/2008 00:36

BTW Jewels - sorry to hear about your computer. I would have thought you'd have a diamond encrusted Issy Miyake laptop with crocodile skin bag... Hope you get a new one soon.

(Mine is ready to blow as well... )

TattooedGrrrl · 10/10/2008 07:23

Morning all,

CM picked me up from work yesterday as DS2 was sobbing all morning and not looking well. I think it's a cold, but apart from being up since 4am, he slept pretty well and seems ok now overall.

Builders should be all done by end of today Hoorah! Just lots of cleaning and painting to do then - boo!

The job thing at work looks promising- it's a secondment so they probably won't interview for it. 5 other people have expressed and interest, but 'nobody with your experience' i'm told, and my part time hours will be fine. Uber- excited.

And BOTH kids are sleeping overnight at PIL 1st November and we're going out for DHs birthday. We won't have to come back by 11pm! Or get up at 5am! How exciting!

Hope everyone's good- sending sleep vibes to all who need them for tonight- including me!!!
