How old is she?

Im sure she is fine!

Earlybird · 05/07/2008 19:54

How tall is her chair? Did she fall on carpet? How old is she?

JacobsPrincess · 05/07/2008 19:55

So it was a low chair, on the floor? How old is she? ALthough I said "they bounce" in jest, LO's really are tolerant of bumps and scrapes - don't panic too much. If you panic, she may panic and then you'll both be in a state.

eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 19:58

12 weeks on wed. was in carry cot that you use in cars. she fell abnout two foot onto lino. she fell flat on her front

BetteNoire · 05/07/2008 20:09

Don't let her go to sleep for a while.

Dottydot · 05/07/2008 20:10

Ah - takes me back to the time dp dropped ds1 out of his moses basket when she was swinging it past the Christmas tree - happy memories ...

He was 2 weeks old, carried on behaving as usual (probably crying ) and was alert - we watching him without blinking for a few hours afterwards, felt the most guilty you could possibly feel, ever, but then declared him to be OK!

If your dd's alert, crying/smiling as usual she's more than likely absolutely fine - but for peace of mind you could always either phone NHS direct or take her to A&E?

Dottydot · 05/07/2008 20:11

Just seen you last post - she sounds fine but if you're not going to sleep tonight anyway, nip her down to your local MATs or A&E.

scorpio1 · 05/07/2008 20:12

she sounds fine by your last post, but obv am not doctor.

Rachmumoftwo · 05/07/2008 20:14

Get medical advice for your own peace of mind. But I am sure she'll be fine. Babies are not as fragile as people think.

littleboyblue · 05/07/2008 20:19

I dropped ds at the bottom of the stairs when he was about 3 weeks. I was in a worse state than him!
He was in mosses basket and I let go of handles and it fell to the floor, rolled over and he rolled out onto his front. He didn't cry right away so I thought for a split second that I'd killed him.
He was fine though, just a bit shocked I think.
We've all done it, but I was told to keep him awake for about 3 hours after an incident like that.
As long as she's alert, feeding and not floppy or anything, she'll be fine.
But if you are worried, there's nothing to say you can't get her looked at to reassure you but I'm sure there's no need. Xxx

eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:19

she is back bfing and i8f i take her away she starts to grizzle, It is around the ntime nhat she normally goes to bed so cant tell if she telling me that or she hurt.

eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:20

she falling asleep on the breast, do i wake her up?

OP posts:
bubblagirl · 05/07/2008 20:21

i slipped over on wood floor onve holding ds when he was only a week or two old he wasnt hurt but i felt physically sick ##when they get to the age of falling off beds and sofas thats something else

the fall doesnt sound high enough to have hurt but just startled her so dont worry accidents do happen

littleboyblue · 05/07/2008 20:25

If she's been ok since, and hasn't shown any signs of being affected, if she hasn't gone floppy or rigid and has been focused and seems to recognise you, I'd leave her to sleep, just keep a closer eye on her this evening.

eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:27

woke her up. DP home in a few. See wat he thinks. Fee;l like crap.

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 05/07/2008 20:32

Don't feel bad, accidents happen. They really do. Wait till she's crawling, she'll be hitting her head left right and centre.
This what haoppened to us.....
At 4 days, I cut circulation off to his feet while changing nappy, they went black
At 8 days I knocked the pram over while he was in it in Sainsbury's
At 3 weeks dropped him down stairs
When he could sit, the dog kept knocking him over

My friend has shut her ds's fingers in the car dioor, and bangs his head constantly trying to get him in car seat.
This stuff does happen, we really have all done it.
My ds also fell of the sofa the other day. Things will happen and soon you will laugh. Really

eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:41

She keeps wanting to go to sleep but i think that it tiredness. DP home and he said not to worry but that we will keep an eye on her.

OP posts:
eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:44

She on his lap now and smiling at him. He thinks she fine and has calmed me down.

OP posts:
eggandketchup · 05/07/2008 20:51

Thanx all

Would prob have gone completely ott about this and called all the services in a mad daze of panick.

Still feel crap and completely guilty but as you say LBB will prob laugh about it in future. And DP has just confessed that he banged her head just last week.

OP posts:
Dottydot · 05/07/2008 21:24

Honestly - you'll never forget it - 6 years later and dp and me still talk about it and feel guilty - but it's just one of those things.

I shut the car boot on ds2's fingers when he was about 2. Horrible - the look on his face when it happened But he was fine - quick howl and me feeling very ill and it was all done with. Luckily no broken bones but now every time I shut the car boot I check a trillion times for any children in the vicinity
