Help! What would you do? Shall I cancel DD's party?!

Am panicking a bit. DD1 (4) threw up all Thursday night (along with 4 of her friends from nursery) but was fine friday and yesterday, eating normakly etc.

Then DD2 (2) threw up at 3 am this morning and has thrown up three times more, though is quite sprightly inbetween. DD1 has thrown up twice this morning and is sleeping again.

The thing is, it's DD1's birthday party this afternoon - hall hired, bouncy castle, 40 children coming, 45 balloons, three days of baking biscuits & cake etc etc. And I think we're going to have to cancel.... DD1 will be soooo devastated and so will I TBH.

It is a joint party so the other little boy could go ahead with his guests (and my baking!). Shall I wait and see how she is later or start ringing round now?!!

Better - she ate some toast and has kept it down, and she's up and about after having a bath. But I've already cancelled my friends who were coming from further away. The local friends will all attend anyway for the other little boy. I spoke with his mother and she said wait and see but I think it's unlikely DD can go
Many thanks for all the help and replies! I've stopped crying now

Why not keep the cake and some of the baking, see how she feels towards the end of the week and ask nursery if they could have a little party there on friday afternoon. Might solve the problem. No bouncy castle but lots of friends.

nappyaddict · 29/06/2008 11:50

I would say leave it until about 2pm and see how she is then. As the other parent doesn't mind if she is feeling up to it ring around everyone to see what they want to do?

staranise · 29/06/2008 11:58

Thanks for the advice. Will see how she is at 2pm and maybe ring round, maybe not, not decided yet. Will hold off icing the cake however just yet! Got to get off computer now but thanks again. I'm feeling better at least!

Just a quick update ofr everyone who helped me this morning.

Well...DD really perked up as the morning went on and kept all her breakfast & lunch down, so at 2pm I rang round the other mums, helped by my friend I shared the party with and nobody objected, mainly I think because there seems to be so much stuff going around at the moment anyway, nobody thought it could be avoided by missing one party. I'd already put off my friends coming from further away and they stayed away, one in particular who has jsut got over a very nasty bout of sickness so it was good they didn't come.

Anyway, DDs 1 & 2 were both fine, ate loads, jumped loads and generally ran around in the sun for hours and we all had a fab time. I'm so glad we didn't have to cancel but the stress has still put me off planning anything big ever again!

Thanks again for your help this morning
