Is sharing a hotel room with my boyfriend and daughter appropriate?

Is It appropriate for my long term boyfriend to share hotel room with me and my 14 year old daughter. I don’t think it is. I always ask him to get his own room or we get a 1 bed apartment where possible and she and I share.
what do you think ? Kids love him and see him like a father. He collected them from every activity and plays in pool with them etc and I have no issue him watching them in home when I away and even though 14 year old is not bothered I think it’s awkward for all of us being in just 1 room sleeping.

I don’t think it’s ‘inappropriate’ if everyone is happy. But at that age I think it would be different 1 night in a travel lodge before a flight, getting changed in the bathroom vs a week in a hotel room where she’d want to relax, do her hair in her towel etc.

I often shared with my dad (same camper van!) , but never with my step dad actually.

How long have you been together?

She probably needs her own room for privacy given it's not her dad. Ask her if she feels okay with it.

That being said, there are some weird ass comments on here. I shared a room with my parents on holiday literally until I left for uni at 18. It never bothered me. I went to the bathroom for privacy, and used to go and hang out in the hotel otherwise. You are barely in your room on holiday. I can't comprehend what's so odd about a family sharing a room for a week. All you are doing is sleeping. Me and my mum just used to arrange what time we were using the bathroom to get ready. My dad napped before going out for evening meal, and only ever took 10 mins to get ready so wasn't relevant 😂

I think it depends on your experience as a child. Mine would have had sex so no I didn’t want to share.

but agree with others most girls would want privacy, I don’t want mine in a properly separate room as when I was a child I was left alone in an apartment and a man broke in and assaulted me so I carry that worry (unreasonably I know). We get a suite with a separate living area and pull out bed or interconnecting rooms.

We have for the odd night all shared a hotel room eg at a premier inn after an event. DS is 4, DSD is 13, DH and I. We had 2 single beds and a double bed. We all got changed in the bathroom except DS. Everyone seemed happy. Nobody had any issues.

however, as an adult I went to London with my friend at the same time as my parents. My friend and I suggested that we all share a 4 person room in a youth hostel (money was tight at the time). My dad was really uncomfortable with the prospect of sharing a room with a young woman. It depends on your own circumstances and dynamics I guess.

My kids always seem to be afraid of people getting into the hotel room so I share with them usually. I have raised scaredy cats.

The 14yo needs her own room, you should either book adjoining rooms or a 2 bed apartment

I don't know why anyone has an issue with a step-family sharing a room purely for sleeping in. Any time one of you needs privacy surely you just use the bathroom. If it was a caravan holiday you wouldn't think twice. Or maybe some commentators would book two caravans!

@itsanamething
A poster up thread says the adults in her life would have had sex. That’s one reason why it’s inappropriate.

If they can get a 2 bedroom apartment hotel

??? She's 14 not 4.

I’m not sure what the issue is unless it’s a new relationship? You don’t live together?
if I were to have gone away with either of my stepkids I’d have shared with them. (they’re boy/girl) If we’d gone as a family we’d have booked a family room and if we were on holiday we’d have all been in one room.
if they’d gone with their mum/mums boyfriend (became husband) it would’ve been the same as our set up.
however, if you don’t feel comfortable then just don’t do it!
