Margot Robbie - had a baby last year

No shade just genuine curiosity

She had a baby in 2024 and given her schedule with the film etc how does it work does a nanny literally look after the child full time? Do you think she misses him?

As a full time mum to my toddler with no help at all I’m just so curious about these women who continue life as if they haven’t had a child and look amazing quite soon afterwards too. Are they wired differently?

I often wonder how people with jobs like hers manage , but I aways just assumed they maybe had a nanny or maybe relatives around to help out. They probably have all the same worries over child care that others do, but some can probably throw more money at it to get around the logistics of it all much easier. For so many ordinary people it can be a nightmare if you haven’t any kind of back up.( I didn’t myself, makes life harder.)

throwawayimplantchat · 10/03/2026 11:56

I imagine the nanny travels with her surely, so she would still see her baby every day?

Lifejigsaw · 10/03/2026 11:57

Filming was when her baby was 3-6 months old. Lots of women have to go back to work when their children are young, certainly before this generation. She'll no doubt have had a nanny yes, and a partner, and the baby will have come with her to location, so it was nearby - maybe even on set!

I wonder if anyone asks this about male film stars.

You gotta do what you gotta do... she wants to work, remain relevant, get the high calibre roles, she needs to work. Baby is now what 18m old? Would probably be on set with a nanny
When my dc wad 18 mo i worked full time and dc was in nursery 3x a week 8.30 to 5ish

Im sure baby is well looked after

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 10/03/2026 11:59

Please don’t compare yourself to celebrities - you will only feel miserable.

It’s part of her job to look great, and she probably has lots of help: nannies, personal trainers, good quality healthy food, expensive beauty treatments etc. that most of us mere mortals can’t afford.

pouletvous · 10/03/2026 12:00

expect baby was close by. She would have had regular breaks and cuddles/feeds etc

more than i did when i returned to work after 6m

This. I remember in one interview her baby started crying in the background. So I assume the baby is with her most of the time.

newornotnew · 10/03/2026 12:03

She is extremely wealthy with a support team. It's just completely different.

CheeseWisely · 10/03/2026 12:04

There’s lots of waiting around on film sets, presumably baby is in her trailer with a nanny (or her Husband?) and she’s there in between being needed on set. She probably sees the baby more in a day than I do when DS is at nursery from 7.45am to 4.45pm.

DappledThings · 10/03/2026 12:04

I would have thought it was easier to have him close by than in a normal job. You can't have a nanny close by in an office or a shop. You can on a film set.

Dazedandconfused28 · 10/03/2026 12:06

She is a big enough star that they will have adjusted the schedule to accommodate time with her baby & to enable him to be on set.

I've employed nannies/ chaperones on film sets before.

FuckedUp7443 · 10/03/2026 12:08

I don't live in the UK and only had 4 months mat leave, I extended it to 6 months as my employer was understanding but most women around me only take 16 weeks. I had a wonderful nanny. Still breastfed him, he still knew who his mum was, and is perfectly wonderful and attached to me and his nanny at 18 months.

I probably had it harder than Margot Robbie - I'm a lawyer, working 50 hour weeks, i couldn't exactly have the nanny follow me into the office etc.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 10/03/2026 12:09

You've got to remember at well that she's in the USA (I know she's not from the US, but its where she's worked for the last decade or so).

Going back to work quickly for new mothers is completely ingrained over there. I believe maternity leave is 12 weeks for most states, and completely unpaid, so it's not at all unusual to see mothers going back to work a couple of weeks after their child is born.

Obviously Margot Robbie doesn't need to go back to work straight away, she's not short of cash, but when it's considered the norm, it's a lot easier to think "Well I may as well take that job", whereas I think an actress who'd always worked in Britain would be far more likely to take the year.

CatamaranViper · 10/03/2026 12:13

As a working mother I hate it when people ask me if I miss my child. What a stupid question.
How on earth is someone supposed to answer that?

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 10/03/2026 12:16

I work with a lot of families like this. I do not know anything about Margot Robbie but a lot of the people I meet genuinely think they can cram parenting into an 'efficient snack' the way they have their exercise, food and beauty regimes. This is not the case.

Camparispritzandcrisps · 10/03/2026 12:47

Sorry, but you lost me as soon as you used the term 'full time mum' when what you mean is SAHP. Mums working outside the home don't suddenly stop being a mum, FFS, they just have to go to work (sometimes without a choice). And I don't see you asking this sort of question about dads who work outside the home with the same faux wide eyed concern.

Some parents get to stay at home with their child - great, more power to them. Some parents work outside the home to provide for their child and keep their career going - great, more power to them. That other people make different choices based on different circumstances shouldn't be that much of a shocker. We all do the best we can with the hand dealt to us.

OverlyFragrant · 10/03/2026 12:49

The child has a father, does he not?

PauliesWalnuts · 10/03/2026 12:49

She's got a husband who works in the same industry! They probably travel as a pack.

Sesma · 10/03/2026 12:54

What's this, a thread to bash working mothers

FryingPam · 10/03/2026 12:57

I think this is one of the situations where (nearly) unlimited resources make a real difference. She’ll be able to rent a nice house near by wherever she’s filming, have a chef and a cleaner, and a nanny accompanying her to the set so that her baby is always close by.

Caspianberg · 10/03/2026 13:00

Probably full time nanny and husband alternate. Plus they can be on set, in nice hotel nearby, and pay PA to help with logistics and housekeeping and cleaner at home. Business class flights, chef prepared meals, chauffeur etc.

If not like they are squeezing in tesco
shop and the bus is running late to nursery collection.

ComtesseDeSpair · 10/03/2026 13:00

My friend is a concert musician and her baby and nanny travel with her. There are periods of several hours where nanny is in sole charge, as with any other working parent, but she isn’t leaving her baby for weeks at a time to tour. As others have said, I imagine Margot Robbie does similarly.

Lomonald · 10/03/2026 13:02

Margot Robbie is self employed yes i know she wont be scrimping but she was maybe contracted to the film before she was pregnant, she would have had a nanny and she has a husband who maybe travelled with her and the baby, I am sure it worked out fine.

Ponderingwindow · 10/03/2026 13:05

If the baby and nanny were not on set I would be shocked. She is in a position to negotiate whatever she wants for working conditions.

LuciferTheMorningStar · 10/03/2026 13:22

Google says:

Margot Robbie balances motherhood with her career by traveling and working with her baby, recently seen bringing her infant to film sets and on trips, including to Australia in April 2025. She began filming Wuthering Heights only three months postpartum and continues to juggle acting and producing roles with her newborn.
Key details regarding Margot Robbie's travel and work with her baby include:

  • Work/Life Balance: Robbie has been actively working shortly after giving birth, including filming Wuthering Heights and attending events for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
  • Travel with Baby: She was spotted arriving at Brisbane airport with her baby and in Naples, Italy, in 2025.
  • On-Set Support: She has been seen with her family, including her husband Tom Ackerley, while working.
