Title says it all, lap/knee for me or mat. Sometimes floor. DS is two years old right now.

Used to do it on my knee

Spambridge · 24/05/2025 14:33

I head to the busiest nearby cafe and do it on the table. Wink

Seriously, on the floor. Baby can't fall off it.

GroovyChick87 · 24/05/2025 14:34

Always done it on my knee. I've done that many over the years I can do them in a few seconds without getting any mess on my clothes.

If at home, mat on floor. If out, sometimes laid back buggy, sometimes changing area depending on location

FiveWhatByFiveWhat · 24/05/2025 16:23

When he was a baby it was on a mat on the floor. When he was standing we'd do them standing up (unless it was a poo, then still on a mat on the floor) He was out of nappies in the day at just before 2 and at night just after 2 because he hated them 🤣

PoopingAllTheWay · 24/05/2025 16:25

On a mat on the floor
But at 2, surely he is in pullups?
They are so much easier

stackhead · 24/05/2025 16:27

Mat on the kitchen table. I struggle with changing on the floor.

Older DD went into pull ups when she started walking and then it was mat on the floor.

CarpetKnees · 24/05/2025 17:33

On the floor. They can't fall off.

BoredZelda · 24/05/2025 20:23

It was impossible for me to use my knee. We had a changing table when she was a baby as getting up off the floor was hard for me.

MumChp · 24/05/2025 20:24

We had a changing station at the bathroom.

lilaclemon · 24/05/2025 20:35

Have two changing stations, one upstairs, one downstairs. We are lucky to have the room and have always felt it is better in a designated private place.

ZebraPrintt · 24/05/2025 21:06

On the floor usually. Changing mat if it's a poo

mondaytosunday · 24/05/2025 22:40

Mat on the floor or bed or changing table depending where I was. Baby over 10lbs at birth too long for my knee plus hard to balance!

johnd2 · 27/05/2025 14:14

Depends on the age but always on the floor as it's safer, in the bathroom as any spillage is easier to clean! And all the kit is ready for use there. But wee only changes could be on any floor as you only really need the new nappy.

Every time we went to the doctor or health visitor etc they would have some high up table for them and they would have a fit if we looked away or took our hand off the baby. I always wondered why have such a high platform if it's so dangerous.

PenguinLover24 · 27/05/2025 14:16

Changing station but only because I don't have the coordination to juggle her on my knee it would be a disaster 🤣 sick of going up and downstairs though!

Mulledjuice · 27/05/2025 14:18

Since he started rolling i a mat on the floor (or ground when out and about). Occasionally a mat on double seat on the train when the toilet was OOO.

Since he can stand more often than not it's standing up.

Pull-ups are more difficult to get on over shoes /leggings.

heatherwithapee · 27/05/2025 14:22

On the floor (on a padded mat) in the bathroom. I’ve never understood why people would want pooey nappies anywhere else in the house but each to their own.

MarioLink · 27/05/2025 14:43

Don't change them anymore but used to a mat on the bathroom floor when home and those fold out changing tables when out and about (or sometimes a mat on the floor at a baby group).

westcott · 27/05/2025 14:48

We used to use a mat on the floor.

Keepsmiling2948 · 27/05/2025 15:41

I have an almost 2 year old in pull ups, he’s changed wherever I can wrangle him. Always standing up, usually holding onto my shoulders while I kneel in front. He has zero patience for nappy changes so whatever is quickest basically.

LaVitesse2022 · 28/05/2025 09:29

For those using pull ups, aren't they trickier for changing poos? Also, won't toddlers just yank them down? Genuine question as my toddler is recently in the habit of trying to pull his nappy down - if he had a pull up he would yank it down for sure 😅

I use pull ups for my 9 month old cos he just crawls away from me half the time now so I'm usually chasing him with a nappy lol, the nappies rip at the sides to get them off, I find them so much better than normal nappies. He's not at the age of pulling them off yet but we'll see lol

Flyhigher · 28/05/2025 12:15

Omg. At home on the floor or if out a toilet. Omg who wants to see nappies changed in public

Flyhigher · 28/05/2025 12:18

Changing station in the bathroom. On the floor. Much easier.
If it was a wee one as she got older we could drop them on the floor in a toilet if needed.

Judgejudysno1fan · 28/05/2025 12:24

Standing up In the shower. And then just wash his bottom part. He's 2.5y so he just stands while I do it. Before it was ant room besides the kitchen on a mat or on my knee. Or I put him on the toilet and pour the jug.down to wash him.
