I usually bath my toddler every other day.

ib · 04/05/2008 22:37

Every day for ds - he'd be filthy if we didn't but then he does love playing in the dirt!

cory · 05/05/2008 09:44

Dd had very dry skin, so we only did 1-2 baths a week at this age.

DD is 10 months and I bath her every 2nd night, unless she gets really messy!

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 09:53

Every day. At the very least, their bottoms and hands need a really good soapy soak every single day.

Also I find that steam from the bath loosens snot like nothing else.

Every night is appalling for their skin. twice a week with very thorough washes every day is fine.

sophiewd · 05/05/2008 09:58

Every day with daddy.

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 10:12

Baths ie water doesn't harm their skin unless it is very hard. Products designed for adult skin can however be very harmful - so use good quality baby cleansers, not horrible soap bars.

stuffitall · 05/05/2008 10:14

Smug I never found that -- every day never did any damage to my kid's skin! The water gets off the babywipe chems and you don't have to use too much soap.

stuffitall · 05/05/2008 10:14

by which i mean, baby stuff or whater

I think it depends how dry your baby's skin is. Mine is eczema-prone and bathing every day exacerbates it. But we're in London and the water is very hard here so it might be different in other places

SmoothandWilkie · 05/05/2008 10:30

Every night for us - just part of his bedtime routine unless he is really knackered and whingy.

SmugColditz · 05/05/2008 11:02

Every day with just plain water would wreck both my boys' skin.

It wrecks mine! That's why I shower instead of bathing!

NineYearsOfNappies · 05/05/2008 12:04

Between 1 and 14 (sometimes dumping dd in sink is easier than trying to get peanut butter out of her hair)

aGalChangedHerName · 05/05/2008 12:08

I am probably in the minority but mine have been bathed every day since they were about 2 weeks old.

I know some think children don't smell but they do if they are not bathed every day.

solo · 05/05/2008 12:10

same age...2-4, but sometimes just a shower...

SmugColditz · 05/05/2008 14:42

yes, they smell of child instead of Johnson's

Sidge · 05/05/2008 14:51

I need to bath my 19 month old, and wash her hair every day.

She's a right mucky pup.

Mine all have a bath every evening, it's part of their bedtime routine. Their skin is fine though, mind you even when DD1 had eczema bathing her didn't make her skin worse (but then we used aqueous cream instead of harsh bubbles).

aGalChangedHerName · 05/05/2008 15:01

I don't use Johnsons Smug.

Makes me laugh when people say they smell of child lol. They can smell like children without having to smell sweaty and pissy!!

My children do not smell of 'sweat and piss', thank you. Why on Earth would they? I resent the implication that children whose skin is not regularly stripped of its protective coating of natural sebum somehow become unhygienic. I have sat in playgroups where only one child gets more than 2 baths a week, and not one of the children smelled of 'sweat and piss'.

aGalChangedHerName · 05/05/2008 15:10

Yeah well i have looked after many many dc (am a cm)who were bathed only once ot twice a week and believe me they stank to high heaven!! Their parents did too so maybe there was other problems, who knows?

When i took them to toddler groups etc other CM's did comment about the smell.
