Hello, just been reading a discussion on another forum and was wondering, if you had a baby whos nappy kept leaking, would you throw the clothes away everytime? What if there was a bit of a stain?

Just interested?

Why would you throw them away? Why not just wash them?

llareggub · 30/04/2008 14:19

I've always managed to get the stains out. I must be particularly talented and stain removal!

However when the vest is covered in poo, I have been known to cut of the vest and bin it.

No.

No, why spoil another one? Use the stained ones again until the leaks stop.

Once is has been cleaned properly it is clean, just not pristine. Get used to that!

You can always cover those up with trousers/dress etc if you go out and no-one would notice a thing.

Otherwise, how expensicve and wasteful would it be?

that some people would throw perfectly good clothes away because of a stain!

llareggub · 30/04/2008 14:20

I do mean a LOT of poo, not just a little leak.

LadySanders · 30/04/2008 14:20

very hard to get those yellowy stains out i find....

2point4kids · 30/04/2008 14:21

I'd wash and if I couldnt get stain out I'd chuck out. (altho if an expensive item of clothing I would give it to MIL to try and get stain out as well as she is better at it than me lol)
Poper vests that are COVERED in poo I have been known to cut off DS and chuck out immediately though if bad enough!!!

jingleyjen · 30/04/2008 14:21

I always try to wash things but we have washable nappies so just stick stinky vests in with the nappies.

Pavlovthecat · 30/04/2008 14:21

Still, even with a lot of poo? If you throw it away, the next one will just get just as dirty. Use that dirty one again until it is just too awful!

The use it as a floor rag!

LittleMy34 · 30/04/2008 14:22

No! Wash them and use them again. What a waste.

misdee · 30/04/2008 14:22

sunlight is wonderful for stains.

have never thrown out a pooey stained vest etc.

Flower3554 · 30/04/2008 14:23

I've been know to chuck a vest if horrendously covered in poo too.

We have a name for these occasions

We call them "code brown"

2point4kids · 30/04/2008 14:26

Sometimes my Ds's vests have been soooooo covered in poo that there was no other option but to cut it off and chuck it out (unless of course I wanted to get poo in his hair, eyes, mouth etc while taking the vest off!!!)

talilac · 30/04/2008 14:28

ecover stain remover and a hot wash.

honestly.

it works.

IdrisTheDragon · 30/04/2008 14:30

No, I wash them. Really don't understand why people would throw them away - it's only poo.

nickytwotimes · 30/04/2008 14:33

I wouldn't throw them either. Very wasteful! 'Vanish' removes everything (though no points for eco-friendliness).

chloemegjess · 30/04/2008 14:35

I am so glad I posted this now. I was on another forum and said that I thought it was a waste to throw out clothes etc and everybody jumped on me saying there was no way they would put their babies in stained clothes! I then started to doubt if it was just me who thought it was a waste! I dont throw anything away unless it is really bad, and I use washable nappies too and would never throw them out if they got stained?

Which website would that have been?!

MinkyBorage · 30/04/2008 14:39

of course not

MerlinsBeard · 30/04/2008 14:43

have to say that i have never had any clothes stain because of baby poo...carrots maybe but not poo.

I just wash them. i don't cut baby out as am too terrifed of cutting baby! ds2 used to explode on a regular basis once it went right up his back and ended up over his shoulder (don't ask, to this day i don't know!) I washed it (and him!) and reused it, they are in them for such a short time until they are outgrown as well

Seeline · 30/04/2008 14:50

Quite agree - a good soaking in Napisan and a large scoop of vanish in the wash - they're as good as new. Works quite well on the clothes as well!

solo · 30/04/2008 14:55

You just roll up the lower bit until the pooey bit is hidden in a not pooey bit and carefully lift it over their head! Such a waste to throw good clothes away, even if they are covered in poo. Tsk, Tsk!

chloemegjess · 30/04/2008 14:55

it was netmums forum
