How much is Disneyland?

Mummaneedswine · 25/10/2024 11:11

I need the realistic costs of Disney from people who have taken kids ☺️ It’s my absolute dream to take my Children. It's all I think about before all my own goals and I want to start working towards it but I'm super nervous about price.

Has anyone took a family of 4? I’d love to get the costs for both Paris and Orlando. I need a figure to work towards 😊

To save money, forget about flying direct to Orlando with BA/Virgin Atlantic and fly with a budget airline, the flight will be longer as there's usually a stopover somewhere like Amsterdam and you won't get luxurious that you get with Virgin/BA. Look at Delta/KLM. Look at regional airports instead of Orlando International, TUI fly to Newcastle Orlando which is a smaller airport and cheaper for them to fly to. There's another airport I can't remember the name of! Forget about staying in a Disney hotel, get a Villa and self cater or look at budget hotels outside of Disney and hire a car.

Jazzjazzyjulez · 25/10/2024 13:37

I do at least one of the Disney Parks a year from around the world and have done for about 15 year so I consider myself an expert in Disney vacations and honestly, you need to make some decisions before you want to get a realistic price.

When are you going? This will impact on not only hotel and flights costs but if you qualify for the Disney Dining Plan.
On or off site?
Do you want to just do Disney? or other parks?
Are you happy taking food or do you want to eat in the parks all day?

For example, my idea of a good Disney vacation is eating in restaurants every day and I only ever stay on site. So my costs will be much different from someone in a villa with a car that brings a packed lunch.

You need to work out if you make savings will it impact your vacation quality? For example, i think bringing a packed lunch is pretty miserable and I don't want to be 'making food' on vacation so this would impact my enjoyment. Conversely others prefer it to Disney food.

We did magic breaks (June termtime) Eurostar Cheyenne 4 nights, private taxi to and from station, half board meal plan with 1 child doing my Disney dream make over ( other who’s a boy didn’t want to do it!) bought loads of souvenirs treats ice cream popcorn ect lunches it was about £5000 not including passport’s insurance car parking in London, hotel in London for night before! Was expensive and a stretch for us but so worth it. We had an amazing time going to start saving for Florida next! You can do it much cheaper than we did it with of site hotels and day passes eating outside the park going in term times ect or check wowcher they have offers sometimes! Whenever you get there have an amazing time! X

Driving to DLP is so easy and it really does make it a lot cheaper with the added advantage of being able to take more baggage , snacks and arrive and leave when you want to make the most of the time .

Lostatsea10 · 25/10/2024 13:47

We’re (2 adults, 2 children) going to Disneyland Paris this December (19-23) and booked last November.

It’s £2.3k for the hotel, breakfast, celebration cake (£30), character dinner 1 night. We’re staying at Santa Fe. We just need a bed, not worried about the hotel experience. The cake is for my son who is 7 when there. 4 nights/5days.

Ferry was £200 booked in Feb (I think).

We’re taking £1200 spending money and whilst not expecting to spend it all want too much rather than not enough.

What? I paid £750 to stay in Cheyenne, 4 days 3 nights, family of 4. Night either side in Paris and paid £1200 all in… literally all In

I'm afraid with Orlando, it's a bit of a how long is a piece of string?

We are just back from staying at a "value" disney hotel which cost £1600 per person(4 of us) flight/hotel package with resort transfer. Disney tickets were an additional £600 each and we spent £2000 whilst there.

Obviously, if you chose a more expensive disney resort, hired a car, visited universal and other parks and ate at fancy restaurants every night, this price could potentially double.

We had an amazing time though and it was worth every penny!

It can be cheaper if you book it all independently and stay off site, in a villa in Kissimmee and rent a car, but if you do that they you do have to factor in the cost of parking when you're at the theme parks too. Food is very expensive now in the supermarkets and for the two of us adults, it wasn't that much more expensive to just eat out!

There are only two of us (adults) and a non-school holiday two week trip to Orlando with both Universal AND Disney tickets in a villa with car rental cost us about £5k back in late 2022.

I tried to price up a similar holiday for next year and it was coming out around the same.

Add in the price effect of school holidays and you're looking upwards of that.

In terms of money out there, we budget $100 per day for both of us in terms of spending money and food and souvenirs. A friend of mine went over the summer holidays this year and was careful (taking picnics wherever possible) and still spent about $2,000 in two weeks (two adults, 5 kids).

When we first went in 2011 it was cheaper to rent a 4 bed villa with a private pool in Florida than a caravan in Devon. Unfortunately Covid has had a massive affect on prices and the cost of living has hit out there too, so it's no longer as reasonable as it was.

Even shopping isn't cheap any more. I had to buy some new trainers when I was out there last year and paid $90 for a pair of Skechers in the Outlets. Got home and went to my local Skechers shop and I could have bought the same pair in the UK for £60!

I’m interested in your cali hols and how much you’re budgeting for it.

ive been quoted 7k for flights, 3 days in the Disneyland hotel and 3 day park hopper tickets and then 7 days in lowes Hollywood hotel. Interested to know if I can get cheaper

We have stayed on site, but its so expensive, but worth it if you have the money.

Flights : £500 with Norse
Hotel : The Anahiem £150 a night, 15min walk, really lovely hotel with pool, bar, rooms have balconys for 2adults, 2 kids
Tickets : 5day hopper with LL £628 each
Universal ticket : 2 day ticket £110 each

JRorBobby · 25/10/2024 14:05

We got to Paris September a year ago for 1 adult and two children and I'd say I was about 5k for three nights and Disneyland oases. We stayed at that Toy Story themed hotel (can't remember what it's called).

It was great!!!

OP refers to Orlando, so have assumed she means DisneyWorld, rather than DisneyLand.

£500 Norse flights is excellent though. Cost us £700 odd to go to Orlando last time and it was an awful flight!

Unfortunately, when you are tied to school holidays and have small children and want to fly from Scotland, booking everything seperate for cheaper is just not an option. We flew with Tui from Glasgow who were fantastic, worth paying extra for to have everything taken care of.

Pre kids, we used to go to Florida every year. I remember getting $2 To every £1 and everything was cheaper over there too. When I was a kid, my parents used to take extra empty suitcases and fill them up out there as the prices were amazing and my mum liked to shop! We don't even bother visiting the outlets now.

It also doesn't help that Disney charge extra for everything now, airport transfers, fast passes, things that used to be included are now an extra.

What I think is clear from this thread is that some people are really overpaying.

you really can get DLP a lot lot cheaper than some of these prices. But you need to shop around and look at Disney direct, they have a price estimate calendar

I think it is a bit rude to call it overpaying.

Yes, you can get things cheaper but you are not getting the same experience. You can get the Ecno Lodge on International Drive for much cheaper than the Poly but it's not comparable and IMO leads to a less enjoyable vacation.

Also, some people are tied to particular times of the year. Before kids I would go to Orlando every January and stay on side, now we need to do July which is more expensive. I am not overpaying, I am paying the going rate....

Disneyland Florida - £10-12k minimum for 2 weeks
Disney land Paris we paid £1000 for a week in the centre parcs near to Disney, 3 days tickets for 4 of us were £1000, the channel tunnel was £300 plus about £1000 spending. So £3000-3500 for a week. I think this could be quite a bit cheaper if you just go for a weekend

We did DL in Cali as a part of a longer road trip holiday.

Flew to Vegas, spent 4 nights there, then picked up a rental car and drove to Anaheim. Did 6 nights there with 2 days at Disney and used it as a base to then explore LA a bit further, so Hollywood sign, Universal (with Express passes to make sure we got on everything), etc, then drove to San Diego and spent 3 nights there, before flying back from there.

We did it that way to avoid LAX airport entirely.

Just found the original bill for it as we use a travel agent (Tui) to book it all. £3,970 for hotels, flights and car hire. Dread to think what it would cost now!

We stayed at the Anaheim Marriott Suites and they gave us a free upgrade to an executive suite. It's a 10 min drive from the car park or, if you don't mind the walk, it's about 2 miles. There are loads of hotels there though that are even closer walking distance.

Disney tickets were (then!) £194 each for a 2 day hopper ticket (now £174!), Universal was £132 each for one day (now around £200). We always use Attraction Tickets for our Orlando and Cali tickets.

Last time we were in Orlando we used them also to book Kennedy Space Centre while we were out there. Instant digital ticket and was significantly cheaper than buying direct.

Its a BIG bday for me this year and we going to DisneyWorld in May, so cant afford to stay on site for DisneyLand later in the year, but if i could afford it, i certainly would!!

Will be in Anahiem for 8nights, 5days Disney and 2days Universal, Attraction Tickets have a great deal with them at the mo!!

When are you going?

No, go ahead. It's ridiculous. We didn't pay ourselves - it was a gift from FIL, as he was terminally ill and wanted to give the kids a "once in a lifetime" holiday while he was still here to see it.

It was certainly a once in a lifetime holiday for us; in fact it was the first time the kids had ever been abroad (we usually go camping in Devon or Cornwall!) so it blew their minds. I'm glad FIL thought it was the best use of his money, and it really was all he had hoped it would be... though now we have the problem of the kids asking when they can go back (answer being, never!!)

If you re read my post I said dlp not Orlando… there is a lot more scope in Orlando to scale up the price and it’s a lot more wow overall.

i was talking Disneyland Paris, staying in the value hotels. £5k for Cheyenne is overpaying, you can get the exact same for 1/5th of the price

im probably not going yet. I wanted to get a quote to see how much I’d be paying, so I know about £7k for 10 days is my bench mark, looked at late August. When are you going? Seemed to be the cheapest date when abiding to school hols

i can’t afford to have big Disney hols every year. We did Florida for 2 weeks this year, paid 6k for 2 weeks in pop (all in, with the dining credit and gift card offer).

so will be settling for sequoia lodge for 5 days, and maybe do a cruise in the summer.
