How much is Disneyland?

I need the realistic costs of Disney from people who have taken kids ☺️ It’s my absolute dream to take my Children. It's all I think about before all my own goals and I want to start working towards it but I'm super nervous about price.

Has anyone took a family of 4? I’d love to get the costs for both Paris and Orlando. I need a figure to work towards 😊

I'd be interested to know the difference between Orlando and Paris. To be honest I'd rather go to center parcs than disney though.

SageBlossomBunny · 25/10/2024 11:16

Depends on so many things. We did Paris cheaply (relatively) off peak. Doing the same trip in summer or Xmas would have be more than twice the price.

Go onto the Disney Paris site and put some dates in and size of family and ages and it will give you a figure. Play with it for a bit. It will depend on level of accommodation too.

Orlando far more expensive as flights etc and tbh if you're going that far you want to do more than the 4 days you might do at Paris (we did 4 Disney Paris days and 1in prais!)

Dutchhouse14 · 25/10/2024 11:20

The cheapest way to do Disneyland Paris if you are OK with driving is to get euro tunnel from Folkestone and stay at Davy Crocket Ranch.
Prices at Disney Paris vary enormously depending on season and hotel but you can easily go to Disneyland Paris website and check their prices online to get any idea. They often have special offers too.
Never been to American one but friends that have have spent in excess of £10000 and that was a fair few years ago.

I went to Disneyland Paris in May, during term time as my daughter didn’t start school until this Sept. Family of 3.
It was £2600 for 4 nights, in the mid-range hotel, Eurostar travel and park tickets for the four days. We paid half board so breakfast was sorted. My daughter isn’t fussy but I’m glad we didn’t get a full meal plan as there’s a McDonalds there and other fast food places, which suited her fine. The more ‘fine dining’ type restaurants would’ve been wasted on her.
I took £1000 to spend while we were there and we came home with about £500. We bought everything we wanted, didn’t go without anything, so I thought that was pretty good for spending money.
I haven’t been to Orlando since I was little but I think it would be about double the price, plus a bit more for flights and accommodation while you’re there. You wouldn’t go to Disney every day and would need at least a week of not two to be worth the trip.

Starabella · 25/10/2024 11:21

I'm afraid with Orlando, it's a bit of a how long is a piece of string?

We are just back from staying at a "value" disney hotel which cost £1600 per person(4 of us) flight/hotel package with resort transfer. Disney tickets were an additional £600 each and we spent £2000 whilst there.

Obviously, if you chose a more expensive disney resort, hired a car, visited universal and other parks and ate at fancy restaurants every night, this price could potentially double.

We had an amazing time though and it was worth every penny!

Floralnomad · 25/10/2024 11:21

How long is a piece of string . It depends on so many factors like where you want to stay , time of year etc . WRT the difference Orlando is much bigger , more parks and better weather for most of the year .

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 25/10/2024 11:29

Orlando £14k.
That was Disney and Universal, entry to all parks, staying in a villa, with car hire.

We ate out each evening (not in the parks) and had a packed lunch every day. We don't really drink so no alcohol costs there.

balloonsintrees · 25/10/2024 11:52

Orlando August just gone, £5000 10 nights in Universal Dockside, flights and car for family of 4.
£5000 on Disney, Universal and Kennedy tickets.
Food costs have rocketed over there though and that is what really killed us in terms of cost!

Pootles34 · 25/10/2024 11:57

We've only done Paris, with Eurotunnel and Davy Crocket. It is a hell of a lot cheaper - I would guesstimate about 8k cheaper from what friends who've been to the US say.

I really loved Paris. Davy Crocket is scruffy as hell, but it's just a place to lay your head. I think with our deal, once you took park tickets off, it was about £40 a night! It still gives you the magic hour, which is 1 hour in the park before the general public is let in, which is what you really want to avoid the queues. I quite like that you're in the woods, peace and quiet after the madness of the park.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 25/10/2024 12:14

We are going next week. £430 ish for a room in the Newport bay for two of us for 1 night- that's because it's between the xmas and new year theming so it's cheaper.

The 'big' Disney hotel was as much as 1600 a night for two of us on some of the summer dates. That includes park tickets in both cases.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 25/10/2024 12:18

Food costs have rocketed over there though and that is what really killed us in terms of cost!

Yes - this. We thought it wouldn't be too expensive food-wise with eating breakfast at the villa, taking packed lunches in every day, and eating out once a day (outside the parks). But Florida is astronomical when it comes to food costs, both in the supermarkets and in restaurants.

Of our £14k, £10k was flights/villa/car hire/park tickets and then £4k spending money.
Of that spending money, the vast majority was food, followed by the Genie fast pass things on our Disney days, and also parking (the fact it's £20 to park when you've already paid £££ for tickets seems obscene, but there you go!)

Dreamingofthree · 25/10/2024 12:27

Depends, on both counts.

so if I go, I stay on property.

i wouldn’t pay more than £1500 for DLP, you can typically get 4 days 3 nights (which is more than enough) in any of the hotels, just not the DLP (pink) one, maybe marvel if there’s an offer. Then I’d self drive and get a McDonald’s breakfast every morning and then eat quick service at the parks.

florida- again wouldn’t stay off site. But about £6k for 10 days is my max, sometimes can get 2 weeks for this much. Flights, hotel and tickets. You can get a deluxe hotel for that but you have to shop around. Last minute tui flights can be got for £300 return. If you don’t like leaving to chance then, £500 ish return with Norse is doable at most times of the year you just need to track the flights. I’d get groceries delivered for breakfast and quick service most of the food with only one of two table service meals. As an adult you can comfortably eat a kids portion in thr states as the portions are huge. Bring your own water bottle too.

i wouldn’t go and stay off property but if you do I’m sure you can get it cheaper.

(this budget is for 2 adults and 2 kids)

Dreamingofthree · 25/10/2024 12:30

^ oh and the only place you really need the fast track pass for is magic kingdom, maybe studios… maybe. But you can get around the others with really strong planning and monitoring times on the app. Getting there early, missing fireworks one day to do the rides. Etc

we spent £1800 in 2 weeks in Florida (we did have dining credit)

CaveMum · 25/10/2024 12:39

Without wanting to be "that" poster, Disney in Orlando is "DisneyWorld" - "DisneyLand" is in California, "DisneyLand Paris" is well y'know!

We did our first ever trip to Orlando earlier this year (over Easter/Spring Break). I'm not going to lie it was NOT cheap, however we did make certain choices that we could have saved money on had we done things differently but we wanted to experience the Disney Bubble.

For 2 Adults and 2 kids (7yo and 10yo - note that over 9 is classified as adult) staying 11 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort (a "moderate") in a preferred room we paid about £9,500 which was flights, hotel, park tickets, etc.

We saved some money by taking indirect flights (flew Heathrow to Newark then Newark to Orlando and same in reverse, but timed it so we were in Orlando by 8pm).

Staying in a cheaper Disney hotel would also have saved money but we liked the location of CBR and access to the Skyliner.

It is definitely cheaper staying off site but you have to factor in additional costs such as parking which is $30 per day and also allow for the fact that you don't get early access to the parks - we found this a gamechanger as we were able to ride all of the most popular rides before the parks opened to everyone which meant we didn't have massive wait times even though we were there at one of the busiest times of the year.

We worked out we spent about £2,000 on food and souvenirs while we were there, we didn't qualify for the free dining plan as they block out the whole Spring Break period from that offer.

If you go in the summer it is a cheaper AND you get the free dining package but you have to contend with the Florida heat! Personally speaking I would rather pay more than melt in the humidity!

That all said we absolutely loved it! The kids actually cried when we left as they didn't want to come home and I would go back in a heartbeat. However if (when!) we go again we'd probably do 5 days at Disney, again staying at CBR so that we get the early park access, and then we'd also do a few days at Universal, go to Cape Canaveral, etc.

Feel free to ask any questions - I became a total Disney-bore in preparation for that holiday!

CaveMum · 25/10/2024 12:42

I'd add have a look at renting DVC points as another way of doing it on more of a budget. If you use a reputable third party company you can get great deals but obviously have more limited choices regarding where you stay.

Rent DVC Points & Save on Disney Vacation Club Resorts | David's Vacation Club Rentals

Rent Disney points from DVC Rentals and stay at a deluxe Disney Vacation Club villa hotel as a guest of a Disney Vacation Club owner.

For those doing Orlando pretty cheaply I'd love to know how in detail... (I'm jealous lol!)

We went with just two adults about 8 years ago and flights, car hire, hotel and tickets for Universal (2 day flex ticket i think it was) and Disney parks (14 day pass) for 2 weeks plus the Disney photo pass was around £2000+. We stayed off site on int.drive in a 3* star hotel. No dining plan, ate off site for breakfast and on site for lunch and most dinners.

We took £5000 in spending and came back with around £800.

We now have children and honestly can't even bring myself to look at prices to go now.

Have heard that once you've been in Orlando, Paris doesn't compare.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 25/10/2024 12:54

It’s 2 very different holidays ! Orlando we did “cheaply” by staying in a house instead! We rented a car and we ate breakfast
at home ! The days we didn’t go to parks we had our lunches and dinner at the house we had a full kitchen to cook in and our own pool.

we didn’t just go to Disney we went to 4 Disney parks, universal, islands of adventure, Busch gardens

Disney paris you can go for a long weekend or mid week and only need a few days and you can easily look for deals as it’s so near

we've been to Disneyland Hong Kong and Tokyo and just went as part of a holiday we were already on!

the Tokyo one was amazing value the hotel was only 80£ a night and we got discounted Disney tickets for that and we went quite off season in February
there’s 2 parks there!

Justme10 · 25/10/2024 12:57

Can't help with Orlando but can with Paris.

We go at the end of November for 4 days and paid around £1800 for 4 of us, this is flights, hotel and park tickets for everyday. The hotel is just outside the park but the free shuttle will take us back and forth. Got the deal on Black Friday last year. Booked through Stewart Travel.

Went last May and can't remember exactly how much but was a few hundred pounds more but that was booking directly with Disney and staying on site. Took about €6/700 and came back with some.

Tiswa · 25/10/2024 12:58

I would work out how much you can or want to budget and take it from there

Paris for Disney is much more straightforward and easier to navigate

if yiu are south and close to eurotunnel definitely recommend driving much easier (even a flexi plus ticket is £450 and that is too turn up at anytime) and is much more relaxing

ButterMints · 25/10/2024 13:00

Did Paris last June. Family of 4. Flew to Paris, transfers, stayed in Sequoia Lodge, five nights, breakfast and evening meal included. Was around £4K.

Sdpbody · 25/10/2024 13:02

We've just been quoted £18k for 2 weeks for 6 adults 2 children with all park tickets in a villa with 2 cars in Orlando.

BeyondMyWits · 25/10/2024 13:10

We have done both and they are very different.
DLRP is a short break maybe 3 or 4 nights... a full day in each park with time left over to repeat stuff. We go mid range. All in (including getting there, accommodation (Inc tickets) and food etc was about 3.5K (has ranged from £1600 to £4k (with one night in the posh Disneyland hotel)
WDW Florida last time was a 16 day trip... about £11K all in. So much more to do. If we include Universal and Kennedy and a trip to the coast it adds another £4K.

So all in all both trips cost about the same per night for us.

LadyR77 · 25/10/2024 13:16

Very different holidays. We had annual passes for Paris from 2019 until covid forced our decision to cancel them - it worked out cheaper to get annual passes than to pay for day tickets for 5 days, although I think annual pass prices have increased quite a lot since then. We travelled by Eurotunnel or ferry, stayed in cheap and cheerful aparthotels nearby and drove to the parks (our passes included free parking). Our Infinity passes were 449 euros each for the year, and we did 3 trips before cancelling during covid. They had perks including the free parking, a photopass, discounts in shops and restaurants and early access to the parks through a dedicated passholder entrance. Worth every penny! The equivalent pass now (Gold pass) is 699 euros for the year. A 2-park day ticket is between 81 and 124 euros for a dated ticket, or 130 euros for an undated ticket.

We did Orlando for the first time this summer (first 2 weeks of August) and it was just incredible, I'd go again in a heartbeat. We flew premium economy with Virgin, hired a car and stayed in an apartment resort (Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa - it was excellent) about 20 mins drive from both Disney and Universal. We got the combination 14-day tickets for Disney and Universal, and also visited Kennedy Space Center while we were there. For the 3 of us (me, DH and DS11) the flights, car hire, accommodation and tickets came to just under £10k and then we spent just under £3k while we were there on food, souvenirs etc. We could have done it cheaper by booking everything separately and travelling basic economy, but it was going to be a once in a lifetime trip and I'd received a payout from a legal case so decided not to skimp. Having said once in a lifetime, we're now planning how and when we can go back as we all just loved it there!
