Anyone’s children ride out Strep A with no Anti’B’s?

Hi All,
my 5yr old has caught Strep A from an outbreak at school.
Seems generally good in himself, his throat is by no means the worst it could be, definitely red with swollen tonsil. He had the chills last night but I wrapped him up, he had a little sweat and no high temperatures, breathing seems totally fine at the moment but I would say Saturday was likely the first sign of symptoms, so possibly on day 3?

I tested him today and it’s positive, I have a 4mo at home and a little worried she’ll contract it.

any advise as the ‘Healthier together’ app suggests home care at this point with no meds.

Thanks @LivelyGoldOrca
To be fair , the notice for strep from the school came late last week, therefore I think we are in the remit of it being fresh, given the symptoms and such with it.

Just whether to treat my 4mo also, will be booking her in tomorrow, as her ops are showing a little shift to normal.

@PigeonLady You second guess everything as a bladdy parent when you are in a spin!

You really don't.

Just give your child the full course of the antibiotics. Stop overthinking this.

@mathanxiety You may not, wish I could be so laid back.
Eitherway, full course will be taken.

Does make me laugh on these forums with blunt comments, with little helpful input - You’d think in times of anxiety and stress that parents would be empathetic toward one another.

Glad you took treatment

Just so everyone is aware the tests pictured by op are antigen tests and can be negative and the person can still have strep a, or be after strep a is long gone the antigen tests can still test pos ( even after abs) although original infection gone;

Always treat if suspected

and here is the swab -GPS and clinics have it its a culture, best out there but 2 day turn around at least so if in doubt just get treatment/doc/nurse will treat

The pic of swab did not load. Looks like the long cotton bud things for throats and vaginas or pre op skin swabs
