DS18 wants laser hair removal

A local salon is doing a deal on full body laser hair removal at a really reasonable price. DS18 has asked for this as a birthday present. Is there anything I should know before I say yes/would you say yes?

I know she is 18 so can make her own decisions but I am the one paying for the gift :) thanks!

I think it’s an important consideration!
a nice neat triangle to trim now I’m older feels more flattering to me . Granted I don’t flounce it down the shops or anything but I prefer it on the occasions I’m naked in company 😃

I have to remind myself that I last dated in the 90s when this really wasn't a thing

Tell her she can get her armpits (or another area) done as a test first? I'd be nervous getting it everywhere!

Underarms, legs, bikini line - fine, hair there is never coming into fashion!

All the pubic hair - no, 18 is too young, there's no knowing what trends will be when she is 30, 40, 50...

Been having laser on face for years. It much reduced but there is still some growth. Used to go to Sk:n. They gone bust

I also recommend the Philips lumea. My legs and face are practically hair free. Only have to laser every few months now.

Did laser hair removal, best decision, just wished I did it sooner! I think if your DD has the skin/hair type that works for lasers (usually dark hair, light skin) she will greatly benefit from it in the long run, not wasting the time on shaving or waxing for years.

I had it on my face! Absolute game changer!

I would book a consultation and go with her to confirm that her skin and hair type are suited to the laser. Also would recommend looking into the different clinics lasers available locally in terms of pain/tolerance etc. As others have said, it is most effective on the combination of pale skin and dark hair. It is also most effective on thicker, stronger growing hair that is not influenced by hormones such as underarms, legs, bikini.

If other slightly pricier machines are more comfortable at an alternative, consider them as well (if you can afford it).

I intend to give laser as a gift for my DD when she is 18 or 21 (if she wants to of course) - I really wish it had been an option for me at that age. I had it done in my 20s and the effects were life-changing - cost me more than double what clinics charge today but was absolutely worth every penny
