Tripp Trapp high chair

Hi all

36 weeks pregnant, been looking at the Tripp trapp high chair. Realise it’s quite pricey but I love the idea of the newborn attachment to be at the table during mealtimes, and how long the chair will hopefully last too. Seen a deal with a 6 part bundle of all attachments for £419 which I think is best price I will get: just wondered whether anyone else had one and whether they’re good?

Hi all thanks for comments, seems a mixed bag. So one reason why I am considering is my brother has for my nephew and they used it from birth and loved it: they had some parts gifted however, and seemed really good when we visited, but then when I looked up price I just paused to think about it. The bundle I found works out about £60 cheaper than if I bought from John Lewis or stoke directly. They used the newborn part when we visited the first time and was great for SIL to entertain baby during meal while being able to eat as well.

i saw Hauke alpha was cheaper but had seen mixed reviews online including about a bar in it?

What did the reviews say about a bar? I'm trying to think what that's referring to on ours. Our baby isn't here yet but we've used the newborn seat and adjusted a couple of times for our friends baby who comes for dinner fairly often. It's easy to adjust (same as the tripp trapp, you move the seat and footrest to whichever level you need). For us it was definitely a cost saving exercise but honestly the sticking out feet at the back was a massive part, I have so many memories of stubbing my toes in my parents kitchen 😆 the hauck has 4 square feet so less of an issue, ours is located in the dining room where we have to walk behind it a fair amount

So saw in some sellers reviews but probs best to post this review on Made for Mums that goes through the pros and cons:

Ah I see, we don't have that wooden horizontal bar, we have the baby set that has a plastic tray. When you take the tray off you can pull the chair up to the table as the safety post between their legs remains attached to the seat.

My Tripp Trapp is in its 23rd year of service. DS(22) had it, then his sister, then it went to my best friend for her 2 kids, then came back to me for DD(5). Great bit of furniture. But I'd look to get a second hand one.

That said, when DD was a small baby we used the ikea £10 high chair and that was better for that stage IMO

I don't think you can beat the IKEA high chair for weaning.
But I bought a tripp trapp second hand for my 2 year old because he didn't want to sit in the high chair anymore but wouldn't sit nicely on a normal chair either. Having his own special chair has worked wonders and it means he sits at the right height.
Will do the same for our second. I considered the newborn attachment this time around as I have dogs but tbh I just put the normal bouncer in the middle of the table. I know youre not meant to but it feels just as safe to me as baby can't really bounce it themselves yet.
