O M G Colditz are you me ?

geek3 · 10/04/2008 22:42

Ds1 was 23 months when ds2 was born. I adore little boys. There is something so honest and vunerable about them. Mine are the best of friends and occasionally the worst of enemies BUT when I march in to repremand one and seperate them for hitting/being mean/taking the others bike etc I am suddenly the bad guy with cries of 'But mummy, he's my brother!' They are lost wiithout eachother.

roisin · 10/04/2008 22:47

FANTASTIC! I love having two boys. Mine are 22 months apart. They will be 9 and 11 this year (shortly), so the dreaded teenage years will be upon us soon. But so far its been brill.

Whats tattling?

Sixer · 10/04/2008 23:08

boys.....after today, i really couldn't cope with another. Play fighting (and you know someone will end up hurt), I have I don't know how many dents/holes in the plaster on the walls due to Thunderbirds crashing, cars going in the wrong directions, and the exerise that's needed, MG we can walk/run/jump for miles, our poor dog struggles to keep up.
The mornings i'm getting dressed/ready for the day, I get a lovely dose of "mum your hair looks beautiful", "can i brush it for you", "you look lovely today", "I like your top", "mum I prefer xyz, on you". And finally "Mum, you look beautiful, your the prettiest mum that goes to my school". LOVE 'EM.

wohmum · 10/04/2008 23:11

Legacy,

I had to promise my nearly 5yr old DS that if he couldn't marry me when he grows up I would come and visit him every single day for ever!

fully agree with everything said so far - mine are 9 and 4 - noisy, boisterous, cuddly (well, ds2 is - very!) so glad I've got 2 DSs

Sixer · 10/04/2008 23:12

Might I add, a friend of mine up the road, also a mum to two DS, said the other day "Sixer you only have two dicks to worry about, If they were girls, you'd have everyone elses to worry about". Sorry If that is extremely crude to mums of girls. however I appreciate frank talking.

collision · 10/04/2008 23:15

Mine are fab!

aged 6 and 3 and they fight but adore each other.

ds2 said today,'mummy, i love you all the way to the moon, round africa and back again!'

and when i took ds2 to soft play on his own, I told him to go and play but he said he couldnt because his friend wasnt there.

'which friend?'

'my bruvver!!!!'

policywonk · 10/04/2008 23:17

Blimey Colditz, that is uncannily accurate. Esp. the bit about the sofa cushions - what is that about?

mollymawk · 10/04/2008 23:24

Spooky about the sofa cushions. This very evening DS1 and DS2 spent a happy half hour (would have been longer if it hadn't been bedtime) jumping off the toybox onto a pile of sofa cushions on the floor, over and over again. And they were insistent that DH should take a picture of them mid-jump.

fairylights · 10/04/2008 23:25

aaaah, i think i need to go and have another ds RIGHT NOW!! Sounds so much fun!! I just had a sister and always hoped i would have boys when had i had kids of my own, well i have one and have been pondering trying for another dc and thinking it might be nice to have a girl but this thread has persuaded me otherwise..
although of course i won't have choice

SmugColditz · 10/04/2008 23:27

I have found myself developing a 'mummyvoice' that would have reduced me to tears when I was a child - it just about catches their attention. A warning look passes unnoticed.

I once caught ds1 blowing bubbles with a straw ... into his still warm, recently filled potty. When I nearly vomited in disgust, and told him it was horrible, and dirty, he would have wet his pants laughing, had his bladder not been recently emptied and had he been wearing any pants at all.

Oh yes ... bare bottoms all over the furniture - I have been known to stand at the bottom of the starirs with a packet of babywipes to check before the usual rawling about commences.

newshmoo · 11/04/2008 03:18

Sixer that is sooo true! I've 2 DS's 10 and 3 and much rather be watching 2 cocks than all the frickin cocks! Crude?... yes but true nontheless

Minkus · 11/04/2008 13:09

I have 1 ds and expecting dc2 in July, really don't mind either way which type of baby we get but this thread is lovely! Am even more excited about the future now if it is another boy.

Also, there is something really special about the adult relationships between the brothers that we know. Dh has a sister and they have a wonderful relationship too but I would love to be able to give my son the gift of that special bond between male siblings. (The idea of him having a lil' sis to protect and whose friends will have hero worship crushes on him is appealing as well though )

Enid · 11/04/2008 13:13

boys are like dogs

is that a good thing?

Lizzylou · 11/04/2008 13:21

I have 2 boys, aged 4 and 2, almost exactly 2 years apart.

It is exhausting but fabulous.

They adore me and fight over who can cuddle me.
They hold hands in the back of the car and call each other "Best Friends".
They are very protective of each other.
DS1 said the other day "When I am big, where will Daddy sleep?" and always says he will marry me.

On the downside I am heartily sick of tractors/trains/pirates/dinosaurs and washing muddy jeans. I wish they'd sit down to draw/paint/craft stuff for longer than 5 minutes. They are noisy, boisterous and very demanding, but I know plenty of girls are like that.
I think that boys are like dogs tbh, you just need to wear them out all the time.

popsycal · 11/04/2008 13:24

I have two - 2.5 years apart.

It is fabulous but LOUD!!! They need LOTS of running about. But they are great friends and very loving to each other.
Boys are fab

Dynamicnanny · 11/04/2008 14:30

I remember someone once saying with boys ou need to treat them like dogs boundaries, routine and at least 1 long walk a day

Anyone agree [winl]

BeauLocks · 11/04/2008 14:33

It's fab. Wouldn't change it for the world.

CaptainKarvol · 11/04/2008 14:38

this is a lovely, lovely thread

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 11/04/2008 14:46

I have two of them - aged 11 and nearly 9.

They are past the toy cars etc stage - now it's all Star Wars and Dr Who and computer games. But they are fantastically loving (and oddly complementary about my clothes!).

Boys are wonderful - they give you so much insight into the weirdness of men .

Pinkchampagne · 11/04/2008 14:56

My two love each other, but also squabble & fight terribly. They are noisy...very noisy, prone to silly noises & phrases (hearing this go on right now), physical, entertaining & very loving.
Getting them out of the house during weekends & school holidays is a must for your sanity!

Love my boys to bits.

jellybeans · 11/04/2008 15:00

I have twin boys, they are fab. So different to girls but just as nice. They are so funny they have me in hysterics! They are very loving and sweet.

beansprout · 11/04/2008 15:10

ds2 is only 11 weeks old but ds1 (3.5) loves him to bits. So far, so fab.
