Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

Commence rambling / ranting / updates etc

Tickle - I know about the hiding when its poo time, my toddler runs behind the curtain to do it and when I try to get her to go on the potty or toilet she just wont have any of it. My only hope now is to wait for the warmer weather and try to spend as much time in the garden while she wears no pants.

GrrrlInterrupted · 22/04/2008 10:34

Hi MrsTickleMouse!

We've taken a step back with potty training, as the accidents were far out weighing the triumphs. Less stressful all round to have a break and try again i think- and he is only 22mths.

Been to post office for a walk today, DS1 much more himself but i'm allowing another day of Cbeebies (last one!) and DS2 is asleep in his pushchair.

Trying to fathom a tasty healthy lunch from what's here now

MrsTicklemouse-im thinking of starting potty traing soon but im not sure if hes too young yet i started ds1 around this time but had more time and patients when i just had him lol

ill have a wee read over the thread later when i have all the kiddies in bed

GrrrlInterrupted · 22/04/2008 15:24

oh loopy

katyt1 · 22/04/2008 15:34

Hi Mrsticklemouse (fab name, i'm desperately trying to think of a good name to change to, mine is just too boring!).

my ds1 seems to be proud of pooing he doesn't hide away or even break eye contact, and tries to carry on conversations!!

grrl - what did you have for lunch? i had a microwave meal (yuk), chocolate (yum) & some pringles (yum)! hardly healthy. might just have to fit in some more choclate before rushing off to pick up ds1 from nursery later. his nursery time just seems to fly by and i love it so much i feel really guilty

Loopy - thanks for that. do any of your LOs act possessive about their potties? we are on a wait and see plan as only one of ours is using it so far. think i will employ the feeding-therefore-too-busy strategy

SO SO sorry to hear about dh news i couldn't bear it if my dh was away ay longer than he is already. wish i'd found a more normal hours bloke who came home every night

tasha - my 'plan' is for 4, tho i need a significant amount more sleep before i even think about no 3!!

ds2 is still waking a couple of times at night for a feed - at least i'm feeding him, i've been asked a few times recently if he's hungry or just habit but i think 13 weeks is too early to be getting strict with him, surely???

right, meant to be getting loads done but as usual playing on here and time is flying...

nowwearefour · 22/04/2008 15:36

can i join in too? i have two dds- one 33 months the other 11 months. it has been the hardest year of my life. but hoping it gets better from here on in!

GrrrlInterrupted · 22/04/2008 15:37

tuna pasta and some strawberries.

curry and wine later for How t Look Good Naked...or How to Look Hip in the Nip, as we call it.

nowearefour - hello glad things are getting better for you. sure i have harder times to come, at the mo it's just sleep, sleep, sleep that's the issue.
when ds2 starts crawing & stealing ds1's toys ....hmm ... there may be trouble ahead....

grrl - better lunch than me then. am of curry. had fish finger sandwich before rushing off to orchestra. really should have more to eat now but knackered, may just take some biscuits & choc to bed

loopy - what's up? speak tomorrow.

i want wine, lots of wine, to get hopelessly drunk & stay up late and have a lovely lie-in! tho sure my first hangover in years will be a shock! still so far away tho

right, pulls self together, off to bed!

ChaCha · 22/04/2008 22:01

Hello all, not a complete stranger, did join you when i had 2 under 2 but could never keep up. Now have DS1 28months, DS2 14months and DC3 due in 3 months so think am okay here in the 3 under 3 thread

DH has just put them to bed as my sciatica has really taken off today, will read as many posts as i can before bed and log on again.

Thanks and big wave [hello all]

Chaotica · 22/04/2008 22:53

Hi Mrs Ticklemouse, Nowwearefour and Hello again ChaCha

All you ladies (or women, if you prefer) with 3 and 4 under 3 -- I salute you. I am not worthy

I was just congratulating myself at managing a pleasant first day back at work (part time) and getting both DCs to bed by myself with no-one screaming (DP is away for work -- good timing!); but now I've realised that I totally forgot to get DD to brush her teeth or even wash the felt tip she'd just drawn all over her hands . Never mind: she'll live (and she might prefer DP for a more comprehensive bedtime routine ).

about your DH, Loopy. That must be so hard. DP worked abroad for a couple of years before we had the DCs and that was really difficult, but I'd hate it if he went away now [understatement emoticon]

Must go to sleep now... Just hope that DS sleeps too (I think it must be teeth, Katyt1 -- but it's just been going on for ages and ages with no teeth in sight...)

MrsTicklemouse · 23/04/2008 08:53

Hi tred and faled miserablt to post yesterday! completely underestimated how much harder two would be than one! agree with chaotica about 3 and 4

gill99 and grrl, i think i'm going to give up soon too and wait for a bit of sunshine

loopy hopefully we'll be able to support each other, my DH starts his army training in june, luckily i grew up with my dad away a lot so i wont be too bad, its the DS's (and MIL!) that i worry about! we've done it all the wrong way round!

will check back later, don't know what happened to yesterday, i'm normally on here half the day!

GrrrlInterrupted · 23/04/2008 10:04

ooh Chaotica- work!! 3 more months for me...can't wait.

Today is going astonishingly well
We had a COOKED breakfast at the table together, i managed a shower while DS1 was in the bath, and DS2 sat in his Bumbo in the bathroom. Dishwasher's been on, dog's been fed, been for a walk and now DS1 is watching CBeebies (1hr only!) and DS2 is asleep.

Something's going to go terribly wrong, isn't it?

katyt1 · 23/04/2008 11:27

Hey chacha - so the small gap first time didn't put you off another small gap then? hope your sciatica calms down, does pg make it worse?

argh, ds2 woken up, back later

Chaotica · 23/04/2008 12:07

Good to hear your day's going well, Grrrl . I have loads to do as it's DD's birthday soon and we haven't got her 'big' present. It's nice being back at work, although I'm glad it's only part time until september (I'd miss going to playgroup )

And hi Katyt1 - how's your day?

Ow, ChaCha - sciatica is nasty. Is it just because of the pregnancy, or does it stick around afterwards? I hope you get rid of it.

katyt1 · 23/04/2008 12:27

right back again, tried explaining to ds2 that he was tired and that it was raining so i didn't fancy a walk but no luck.
so went out to post a card and walked around a bit (peeing it down here ) til he gave in, hope he will now have his usual 3 or 4 hour sleep while i have some ME time, hooray

i can see where i am heading btw, he will only have a good long sleep after a walk or drive, but hey i survived it with ds1

hi chaotica - day started ok in that ds2 only woke once for a feed at 4, then went bad quickly as ds1 up at 5.30 (second day running), managed to get him to cuddle up in bed for 10mins then he ran around, of course waking ds2. ho hum.
texted dh to wake him up but obv didn't work as he only replied an hour later
anyway, ds1 off to nursery, sent him in with blankie & monkey today so hope he sleeps [fingers crossed emoticon]

grrl - day still going ok for you???

i carefully washed all boys clothes last night so i could hange them out today but of course it's peeing down, so tumble drier on

Cazwa · 23/04/2008 13:22

Hello all, plus new people!
Life going pretty well here. DS turned 6 months today Im so pleased to have reached this point with my sanity intact. I was really worried I might get PND in the early days, but definitely feel like Im through the worst of it now (in terms of broken sleep, crying, juggling 2 v. lo's). Anyone else had a nirvana moment recently where you think this is so much easier now?

I am obviously heading for a fall after typing that paragraph...

DH has been off for a few days so we've had some nice days out. Poor DS has a cold so is v grumpy but still manages the odd smile, and DD is sleeping reasonably well (touch wood).

Bought some lovely summer shoes today and also ordered some work ones online in preparation for going back in July. Chaotica, how did you find work? Im looking forward to getting smart again and having challenging conversations, feel a bit brain dead at the moment. Wont like putting them in nursery though, always feel guilty about that .

ChaCha · 23/04/2008 14:21

Hello ladies,

Thank you.

No lol, small gap first time round didn't put me off, in for a penny in for a pound I had SPD at 35weeks with DS2 and think i'm going through the same again at the earlier time of 25weeks, i do what i can do in the day and DH does his best when home (often quite late) - have resorted to DVDs when i can't do much, we got rid of our TV last year - kind of defeating the purpose at the moment but ho hum.

It's good to read what everyone is doing and how you are all coping. I gave up work back in the summer of 2005 and have no desire to return and hope to homeschool my DC (except on the odd manic day!) Good to be able to juggle work and homelife - admirable, best of both worlds maybe and hope that my decision works out best for us all here.

Thought i'd leave it there or will talk for England. Will be back at tea time when they are sat having theirs.

Could i ask that everyone write their DC's ages at the bottom of their posts? [shame] Saves me having to try and find out who you all are....thanks if you could. xxx

katyt1 · 23/04/2008 15:02

Ah, just had a lovely bath with ds2 - and now he is asleep properly! of course i will have to disturb him in an hour to go and get ds2 but hey.

no nirvana moment here! altho it is much easier than i expected...so far

don't feel guilty about nursery, if they are like my ds1, they love it!

home ed? well not for me, i love my time off too much to keep them at home with me all day but i admire the thought. plus gets rid of which school? prob that we are already discussing here.

mine are;
ds1 23mo
ds2 3mo

GrrrlInterrupted · 23/04/2008 15:03

still ok day here. DS2 a bit whingy so shut him up with boob

faggots, mash and veg for tea! Can't wait- starving already!

GrrrlInterrupted · 23/04/2008 15:03

oh, and mine are 22mths and 6mths, both boys

Jewelsandgems · 23/04/2008 17:16

Hi everyone sorry for huge delay in posting but I have been in a proactive mood.

DD1 is only just turned 2 and the potty training with the training pants is going excellent - since she started wearing them not 1 accident so far. And today she even took herself upstairs to her potty and did a wee, and then came down to tell me! I was very proud of her and I'm not sure if it's the pants, or that we started her on the potty at 18 months but very happy so far.

No - we did not book a bloody holiday. We saw the lodges and they were nice, but the site itself was smaller than it look on the website so we did not book it. Saying that, there's bugger else available so maybe we will after all!

And I have enrolled in Pilates every friday (whilst DH works from home) AND DD1 is enrolled in tumbletots every Monday. Phew! I have been busy (and I feel it - bloody knackered)

So happy your DS back on the mend grrrl and a huge wave to everyone else. Tonight it's going to be me, property ladder, The Apprentice and a large glass of red

Loopy - funeral sounds grim, at least you went i suppose. how was dd3? at least at weddings it's kind of cute if the kids make noise.

gems - well done to your dd1 how is tumble tots? have been meaning to see if they do classes near here. joining you with the glass of red

grrl - not convinced by faggots but glad you like them!

had a really down moment at bedtime, yoyo-ing between the 2 boys, settling ds1, rushing back to feed ds2 (again), whilst listening to ds1 wailing, ds2 looks asleep, put him down, resttle ds1, meanwhile ds2 wakes up, rush back across ad infinitum...
so tempted by bottles tho i know when it came to it i wouldn't, and it prob wouldn't help much anyway.
just a mini-cry wishing for more sleep.
and i just feel like i am always wishing for ME time. and resenting anybody who interferes with it. so ds2 taking until nearly 8 to sleep means i have an hour less of an evening
and i feel like i'm not really 'enjoying' them if that makes sense? just waiting til i can next have a break. tho i can't have much of one from ds2 until he feeds less

ah well dh will have to be i/c ds1 at 5.30 tomorrow

well the glass of red is doing the trick and life is looking better already!
