Am I the only one who DOESN'T fold baby clothes?

This may horrify some of you, but does anyone else NOT fold baby clothes? Our dd's chest of drawers are just full of jumbled outfits and clothes. We did fold at the beginning but we end up messing it all up anyway when getting stuff out of the drawers in a rush etc.

Precious time spent folding could actually be spent doing tidying elsewhere or spending more time with 1 year old dd. We work full time and we are tired! My mother came to stay and gasped when she saw the state of dd's clothing storage situation. Her bedroom is otherwise lovely and neat. But my mum was shocked at the clothes stuffed in each drawer! We are attentive and caring parents in my opinion so if this is one of our main flaws then so be it! This will have to change when dd gets a bit older, however. I fold my own clothes (most of the time...)

So, am I the only person who doesn't fold or neatly store baby clothes?

Does everything not look crumpled? This explains the appearance of most of the stuff I see on vinted.

I do fold baby clothes, so I can see what I have clearly! I don’t find folding clothes a time consuming job though, I usually do it in front of the TV in the evening.

Not really. Lots of baby clothes like leggings and jumpers are made out of materials that are quite good at not creasing easily. Either that or they're small the creases aren't as noticeable! There is the odd item that looks a bit crumpled but most things look absolutely fine! I am now wondering whether to be a proper grown up and order some drawer dividers... we live in a tiny old house with no wardrobe space so hanging things is not an option.

I don’t have children but I don’t even fold my own clothes so can’t see me folding baby clothes should the time ever come.

Do you just crumple them up in drawers? Jumpers and T-shirts?

I don’t actively ‘crumple’ them, but yeah I just shove them in drawers unfolded - attached a photo of one of my drawers.

I work more than full time hours in a stressful job (albeit over 4 days) and I still manage to fold everyone's clothes, including toddler DD's. Would drive me mad not being able to find anything, plus she has separate clothes (not vests or socks) for nursery as they just get wrecked. It takes 5 minutes to fold a load. With tops, vests, jumpers, just fold the arms in and fold them in half?!

I fold/roll from the dryer or the the line, I never leave clean washing in a basket as it becomes an extra job.

I couldn't do that. It's too chaotic.

DH lives chaotically and spends half his life looking for stuff.

He does fold his own clothes though.

We fold bedding and towels as well as does everyone I know.

I have adhd so admit I do tend to live my life in chaos! Even when I used to fold clothes putting them in my drawers I’d end up messing it all up when looking for something at the bottom of the drawer and it’d end up looking like nothing was folded to begin with, so in the end I just decided to cut out the time wasted folding things that would only get mixed up in the drawer anyway. I don’t understand how folding helps people find stuff as you still have clothes at the top and clothes at the bottom. I don’t fold bedding or towels either, they do just get shoved crumpled into the cupboard!

It means you don't have to rummage. I lift a pile of T-shirts from a drawer and select the one I want quickly and easily then put the pile back in the drawer.

I hate wearing crumpled clothes.

I’m not a super tidy person or anything but I do fold things, it would stress me out rummaging around a drawer of unfolded things! I usually get both kids clothes out the night before and it’s much easier to just lift a whole outfit out

I couldn’t cope with this!

Whatever works for you though I guess.

I iron and fold / hang up. Except baby socks, no one has time for that.

I'm happy to make the time as that's what I like to do. I watch very little TV, spend little time on social media and keeping everything tidy and organised is important and yes, when my DC were young I ironed vests and baby-grows.

Same here! It’s about what you choose to spend time doing and that makes you happy. I’d much rather spend my evenings folding and organising than watch tv, it’s my choice of recreation.

MariaVT65 · 06/05/2024 12:49

I don’t fold clothes and i have no problem finding them in a drawer. Spend enough time hanging them up to dry.
