Homeopathic treatments

Has anyone used homeopathic treatments for their toddlers/children?

I've had my son at the doctor multiple times over the last few months due to ongoing sinus issues and a constant blocked nose. I'm getting no way with them because of his age they keep saying there isn't much they can give him.

I spoke to another health professional who said her son saw a homeopath for a similar issue as a teenager and it worked wonders.

Just wondering how safe it is?

Hello @YoungerHeart my family have used homoeopathic remedies successfully for many years, and generations, to treat us and our pets. A useful first stop would be Helios Homoeopathy online - they have first aid kits which will include several options for sinus problems - or you might prefer to find a local practitioner through the register, again that's online.

It is completely safe and can be extremely effective, so please ignore the naysayers and give it a try - a great many "normal" doctors now use Homoeopathy as complementary to standard medicine, with excellent results.

OK Brian.

OP don't waste your money.

One of my dogs started limping one day. Didn't get any better over several days, so I made a vet appointment for the next day. In the morning he wakes up - no hint of a limp, jumping around like a young gazelle.
Now, if I had also given him homeopathy that evening, I could also claim it's clearly working and miraculous cure. Or maybe it's the phonecall to vet that did it, surely magical healing phone signal is just as possible as water memory.

I definitely think you can give your child more water each day, yes.

Yes, why didn't I think of posting a link to that! says it all.......

As the problem is ongoing, I wonder if he's reacting to something in the environment.

I know this is an old thread but are there any homeopaths on here? Big fan of it here, have used it on my children since they were babies. If I won the lotto I would leave my job & do a homeopathy course…

I don't think you need to take a course, just call yourself a homeopath.

notmorezoom · 09/02/2024 09:36

May I sell you a very expensive bottle of tap water? Same as homoeopathy...........

The smaller the quantity of training the more potent it is.

Ok, very negative comments coming back. I’ll leave it at that..

To be fair, belief in homeopathy does deserve negative comment.

sanityisamyth · 09/02/2024 13:19

Homeopathy is bollocks.

Tigertigertigertiger · 09/02/2024 13:21

I had a boyfriend once who believed in homeopathy.

He moved 100s of miles from home and would call his homeopath on the phone if he had an ailment.

She would tell him to write the name of her prescribed homeopathic remedy on a piece of paper , sit a glass of water on the paper then drink the water and it would have the desired healing powers.
He genuinely believed it worked.
He was normal, intelligent and eloquent in every other respect

I swear this story is true.
He was a very lovely man.

The smaller the number of positive comments, the more supportive the thread is, right?

Lying to people for money does tend to attract negative comments.

No point talking about homeopathy on mumsnet, Jennifer. People here think being close-minded is scientific.

I live in a country where homeopathy is very much used and most people use it to treat at least some of their problems.

How is France these days?

Ludicrous European medical traditions are fascinating in their own way. The French swear by the nonsense that is homeopathy. The Germans think the bowels are the seat of all disease.

Mind, like all enlightened societies they turn away from this garbage when treatment actually matters, and rely on mainstream, scientifically proven medicine.

HermioneWeasley · 09/02/2024 15:52

@Coyoacan not close minded, must not credulous.

I think the saying is that some people are so open minded that their brains have fallen out.

Show me the evidence and I’ll change my mind. And remember anecdote does not equal data.

Oh much better since the social security decided to stop covering homeopathy, as it has no scientifically proven effect.

You mean they spent time and money scientifically analysing, experimenting and investigating homeopathy and found no benefits...? How closed minded of them. 😉

Can you explain what has been said that has led you to that conclusion? I can't see the logic behind your statement.

Do I think that, based on what I've posted?

Jennifer17 · 09/02/2024 19:18

Thanks Coyaocan, I appreciate your comment. I have used it on my children since they were babies. I’d be lost without it.

TwelveKeys · 09/02/2024 20:18

Even homeopaths say that if you mixed up the labels on the bottles there would be no way of determining which remedy was which - with microscopes etc. There is no ingredient in it that can be identified.

Oh the Germans are equally as bad about this nonsense - after all they invented it.

Then there's the Steiner folks, of Waldorf fame, who teach Goethe's theory of colours and who've come up with "bio-dynamic" agriculture requiring a cow horn full of dung to be buried in fields during a particular lunar constellation to improve harvests.
