Hello!
My baby will be 6 months in 10 days, she used to have bright blue eyes but I’ve noticed they’ve changed to a darker blue. And now I’m convinced I can see some brown starting to appear?
Also I have noticed her eye from the side look brown in natural light? Is it possible they could change colour?
attached pictures, not great quality as she doesn’t stay still 😂 also I have pale blue eyes and DP has brown eyes.
Thanks!

Yes mine changed at some point in my childhood from very dark brown to green. I’m not sure exactly when - but they were definitely dark brown when I was a little girl but I realised they’d changed when I was about 12.

caramac04 · 19/10/2023 13:33

Yes. One of my DF’s eye colour started to change at 13 months. By age 15 months her blue eyes had changed to hazel.

Don't all babies have blue eyes for the first six months? I might be totally wrong but sure I heard it somewhere

DS had very dark brown when he was born. Still has.

CoalCraft · 19/10/2023 14:50

Pretty much all babies of Northern European descent are born with blue eyes. Some then turn brown starting around 6-9 months.

LongLiveGoblingKing · 19/10/2023 14:52

DS was born with very dark brown eyes but by 6 months they had turned a very bright blue. So yes totally possible.

YourNameGoesHere · 19/10/2023 14:53

Yes they can change any time up to about 6 years although most have settled by 3.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/10/2023 14:53

Dd1 born with blue eyes. Changed to green when she was around 1 yr old.

Cas112 · 19/10/2023 14:54

Yes all babies are born with blue eyes and the majority change. The pigment in the eyes develop over time

RoseRows · 19/10/2023 14:54

DD was born with blue eyes but by 1 had brown eyes

YouveGotAFastCar · 19/10/2023 14:55

Yes. DS had bright blue eyes until a couple of weeks ago, he’s nearly two.

White ones maybe

Laserbeam24 · 19/10/2023 15:03

Yes they do change! My daughter is 8 months. She was born with just about black eyes, like a shark! Then they changed to brown. Then she developed heterochromia and she now has one eye that's split half blue half brown, and the other is brown with blue triangles. The blue parts have changed from green to blue.

HappyAsASandboy · 19/10/2023 17:05

Eye colour can keep changing for years. DD was born with blue eyes, they were brown by about 18 months and green by the time she was 10 years. They're still getting lighter and lighter I think, several years later.

My eldest DC was like yours, born blue, went dark grey and then by a year old were deep chocolate brown which is the colour they stayed. My middle dc was born with dark brown eyes that never changed, and my youngest were bright blue until about a year they changed to a lovely greeny blue which they are now.

slm1994 · 19/10/2023 19:08

@ladygindiva very interesting! She had bright blue and light eyes only a couple of weeks ago, I was convinced she would have my eyes but now I'm not so sure! I guess time will tell.

No they’re not.

dressedforcomfort · 19/10/2023 19:18

My son had blue eyes until he turned 4 years. They are a muddy greeny-hazel now....

Nope!!! My middle daughter is 100% Caucasian ( as far as I know) and was born with the darkest brown eyes. They've never changed colour. Her two siblings were both born with blue.

Your daughter's eyes sound amazing x

MikeRafone · 19/10/2023 19:57

Yes, my dd1 had blue eyes until she was nearly 3, they changed to green. It happened slowly & actually it’s something she can remember

VikingLady · 19/10/2023 20:15

DD's eyes turned brown at closer to nine months.

PurpleBugz · 20/10/2023 10:27

As others have said white babies tend to have blue eyes to start with.

I was always told all babies have blue eyes that change. This was even covered on my antinatal courses. Then had a new family member of mixed heritage be born with brown eyes. Surprised I looked into it. I'm now kind of disgusted with how the default is always about white peoples and ashamed I never realised. I hope the others who didn't realise this see the subtle racism in the world a bit clearer. See also plaster colours and the phrase 'skin tone'

Cluborange666 · 20/10/2023 10:28

Yes. My son’s eyes went from blue to green then hazel at around 13 months. Your baby looks like they’ll have brown eyes.

I agree; but not even all white babies are born with blue eyes; it's an utter myth! My ( white) daughter was born with dark brown eyes.
