Taking my 4 year old tomorrow for the first time. Any tips for how to make the most of it and not spend the whole day queuing? Thank you

If you download the app now, you can see what the queues look like today. We used that to plan our trip in the summer. We also found that our 4 year old wasn't tall enough (or brave enough) for the most popular rides so went on plenty of the smaller rides. There was one - the high up train that goes round the park - which he did enjoy and which did have a massive queue. Not really sure why. DS also loved the miniature village as well though. And the all you can eat pizza buffet!

Go right at the start to head down towards the rapids (closing forever soon, so take advantage), and all the better rides. I'm assuming he's tall enough (1m +). If he needs warming up, or not much of a thrill seeker, head left towards Duploland and the splash park. It's going to be a hot one tomorrow, so make sure you've got plenty of water bottles to refill.

We got reserve and ride tickets (from £15 pp when purchased in advance) when the day we planned to go had a teacher's strike on it. And those schools that weren't closed had day trips there too. Worth it. Every ride had a 30min+ queue. Meant we could queue for another ride, while simultaneously queuing for another. Got so much more done that way.

Is he over 1m tall? That makes a difference. Download the app and you can see the current queue lengths.

Be there for opening and head straight in and to Flight of the Skylion. Then the laser shooters and round to the driving school/firefighting/coastguard hq and choose one to queue for.

Then do all of the other areas based on app queue times. Take snacks, lots of them and drinks. I take picnic foods and eat them in the queues. Take a powerbank and something to keep him busy.

Ask at guest services and in the building bit for pop badges. Leave enough time to build lego and wander round mini land at the end of the day.

My suggestion; go next week!! Once kids are back at school will equal a much better day out lol

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 04/09/2023 15:48

Add about 15 minutes to each ride queue as the times on the app are rubbish. 10 minute wait on app? Prepare for near half hour wait.

Do not eat at the bricks restaurant. Bad service and very over priced. The all you can eat pizza place near the pirate area is great though. Watch the pirate show too.

Ninjago or whatever it’s called has a massive queue so get there earliest it opens. Apparently best ride according to my dd and nephew.

I'm hoping to go on Monday with my 1 and 2 year old. One will be over 100m and one under 90m. What rides can I take them both on? The website is clear about what I can take one of them on, but I can't abandon the other! It's all or nothing.

legoland windsor is overpriced, overcrowded and dirty http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/1831376-legoland-windsor-is-overpriced-overcrowded-and-dirty

Well yes, but pretty much all theme parks are and my DS loved every second of Legoland which is the point really.

Are you sure about the heights (presuming you mean cm). My average height 4 year old is only just over 1m tall.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/09/2023 15:58

here

Loads more tips, blogs, survival guides etc online - five by googling "Legoland survival guide".

"Are you sure about the heights (presuming you mean cm)."

Obviously she doesn't mean her kid is 100 metres tall 😂😂

Take him to the pleasure beach, the riders on the Big One will be fucking terrified at the 100 metre toddler staring down at them 😅

modgepodge · 04/09/2023 16:07

Is it still really busy this week? I’ve planned to take my daughter on Thursday/ I assumed by then pretty much all schools were back including private ones!

sezzer87 · 04/09/2023 16:09

Buy fast track. Well worth the extra expense

I meant is she sure that her toddlers are over 1m tall. That would be a pretty big toddler.

FullFatPhil · 04/09/2023 16:12

Oh sorry 🤣

IVFbeenverylucky · 04/09/2023 16:25

Okay, need to get out my tape measure, but basically what can I take an under the limit 90cm one on with with me and another tiddler (measurements to be determined, but no giant :)).

OP - sorry I seem to have overtaken your post, but we all had a laugh.

Invisimamma · 04/09/2023 16:38

We went early Sept last year just after the English school went back, and we walked on and off every single ride. Some let us ride 2 or 3 times as there was no queue. So if you have the option to go off-peak I would!

Otherwise head straight for the rides you want to do most first. Flight of the sky lion was our absolute favourite. The baby rides, Duplo land etc tends to be quieter at the end of the day as little ones have left the park earlier.

Pipsquiggle · 04/09/2023 16:41

Does it have to be tomorrow? Some schools start back Weds /Thursday.
Private schools will probably be even later

Next week or the week after will be so much better for queues and probably from a weather perspective be cooler

FullFatPhil · 04/09/2023 17:24

@IVFbeenverylucky balloon school, fairytale brook and the duplicate express. Honestly, I'd wait til they are a good few years older yet.

IVFbeenverylucky · 04/09/2023 17:31

@FullFatPhil
Thanks.

icebubbles · 04/09/2023 18:40

This is great, thanks so much! He starts school this week so it's our final opportunity to go outside term time!

OK, I am local and go fairly regularly so never get the queue jumper pass, however, if this is your one and only time, I would consider doling out the cash and upgrading to this ticket. You will get on at least twice as many rides.

If you are going to get there first thing (with everyone else), I would advise going to the submarine first - other side of the park - and then working your way forward (everyone else will go towards Viking falls and towards the castle bit)

Take water and snacks (and suncream)

ExpatForLife · 04/09/2023 20:34

Bring water and take pictures

okayah · 04/09/2023 20:47

If he is only 4, I honestly still would skip a day and go next week, the q's will be horrible tmrw and then add this heat!
It's honestly such a better experience when it's not rammed

And how are you with wasps, they are like a plague there sometimes
