I’ve only ever bought brand new with tags stuff for my son off here and washed before use

i just seen a cute outfit for my baby girl sue January and was going to get and wash it before use anyway! The seller is from a smoke free home and said it was worn about twice / 3 times

anyone ever bought used off here?

if I wash it before I put it on baby girl that’s fine isn’t it

Yep I buy things for my kids off there. Don’t see the issue really.

SoSad44 · 18/08/2023 20:04

Yes, all the time. I wash it before they wear it.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 18/08/2023 20:07

Of course it is fine, most people use second hand baby clothes whether Vinted or just passed on from friends

Yes I love vinted, bought a few brand new bits for my DS2 .

Angeldelight50 · 18/08/2023 20:22

All of my DD’s clothes come from Vinted, usually second hand. No sense in letting perfectly good items go to landfill because another baby wore it for 5 hours..

It’s a great way to pick up better quality items you maybe wouldn’t splurge for brand new. Previously I’d just pick up outfits in Asda/Primark whereas now I buy lots of handmade dresses etc, always get loads of compliments on her outfits 🙂.

I've just bought a bundle of lovely Frugi clothes off vinted at a fraction of the price new. Branded stuff is so expensive brand new and they grow out of it so quick!

Chatsworth364847 · 18/08/2023 20:45

Of course yes. I sell and buy a lot.of my children's clothes from there - no different to buying from a charity shop. So much better for the environment and if they're like mine, they hardly wear some things much anyway!

wishIwasonholiday10 · 18/08/2023 20:53

Yes, I’ve brought sone decent stuff on there but check the photos and description carefully before buying as some people seem to be overly optimistic about the condition. I’ve had stuff described as very good but was only suitable for giving away in my opinion (badly shrunk or with holes). Also had some great bargains. It’s good for other baby stuff like sleeping bags too.

ClemmyTine · 18/08/2023 21:11

My daughter in law has bought some lovely things for the grandchildren. Bnwt etc.. for a fraction of the new price literally £2,3,4.
Second hand stuff doesn't have the stigma it used to have.

Toddler101 · 18/08/2023 21:12

Yep and for good measure I add antibacterial laundry cleanser to my machine along with my usual washing powder when I wash anything 2nd hand.....

Runningover · 18/08/2023 21:13

I have never bought new clothes for my baby. Baby clothes are barely worn. Just wash it and it will be fine.

Whattodo112222 · 18/08/2023 21:22

I've just purchased several Ted Baker and Joules dresses for my daughter off Vinted. Some were worn a few times.
I washed them as soon as they were delivered and used a capful of antibacterial sanitiser in the machine.
Of course it's fine! I never buy anything under "very good" condition.
My best purchase was a pair of £5 Nike trainer's for my daughter.. they were worn once!

SnapdragonToadflax · 18/08/2023 21:22

Yup, loads. Mainly so I can buy styles and patterns I like rather than what's in the shops, but also because I'm not paying JoJo Maman type shop prices but I like their stuff.

I buy a mix , but definitely lean more towards second hand.

DuploTrain · 18/08/2023 21:24

Yes I buy lots of stuff for my DS.

However I wouldn’t spend a lot, I find that baby clothes have often been shrunk from washing hot/tumble drying. So I always buy a size up if it’s second hand.

Caaarrrl · 18/08/2023 21:24

I know it's not exactly what you asked, but when my DDs were babies (a long time ago now) most of their clothes were from charity shops and they were fine. Absolutely no problem buying second hand clothes.

Gremlins101 · 18/08/2023 21:26

I've barely ever got any thing new for my small kids. Hand-me-downs and charity shop buys have done us really well.

A good wash and it is the same as everything else really

DuploTrain · 18/08/2023 21:26

They way I think of it… if my DS comes home from nursery in someone else’s jumper or trousers from the spares box (fairly frequent), that doesn’t bother me. There’s no reason to think that Vinted people are any worse!

Ds16dv · 18/08/2023 21:26

Yes all the time . I normally go for good and very good condition. I normally shop bundles and I can get a years worth of clothes for both my boys for around 50.-60 pounds

PetitPorpoise · 18/08/2023 21:28

Most of my children's clothes are from Vinted. The only stuff I buy new is supermarket tshirts and leggings for playing in. The brands I buy from Vinted are much nicer and better quality than I would be willing to pay for new.

retrainer · 18/08/2023 21:35

I buy almost all kids clothes 2nd hand - Vinted, ebay, facebook etc

Coffeaddict · 18/08/2023 21:56

The vast majority of my kids clothes are second hand. Throw them through the wash first and there grand

Bournetilly · 18/08/2023 22:04

Yes mainly baby things, they only tend to wear things once or twice as they grow so quick so there’s a lot of things in very good condition for cheap. I only buy new things or things in very good condition.

Ive sold a lot of things as well, much rather know someone else is wearing it than it going to landfill.

cariadlet · 18/08/2023 22:05

No because I couldn't be bothered with looking through websites but (apart from shoes and underwear) most of dd's clothes were hand me downs or from charity shops when she was a baby and toddler.

Seems pointless buying new when they grow so quickly. Saved me money and better for the environment.

cocksstrideintheevening · 18/08/2023 22:09

My tweens love Vinted, they realise they get a lot more for there money.

trampoline123 · 18/08/2023 22:18

Yes.

I sell their old stuff, save the money on the account to buy their 'new' stuff.

I very rarely buy anything from the shops now.
