Would this put you off a nursery?

If there was a parent who stayed for part of every session with their child (then parent and child leave early) who had severe SEN needs? Would you feel that it would unsettle the other children as they don’t have a parent there ? Or would you be ok with it

Wouldnt bother me as a parent of another child, but as a SEND parent myself I'd be concerned for you/your DCs sake. It's one thing for you to stay for a few weeks because your DC isn't settling. It's a whole different ball game if you are there to improve ratios as your DC needs 1:1. My eldests EHCP took nearly 9 months to come through then they still had to recruit and train a 1:1 after that. How far down the EHCP process are you?

Exactly this.

There are various things in your post that make me wonder how familiar, professional and prepared the nursery are with this level of SEN.

Personally i wouldnt like other parents staying with their child, because i wouldnt know if they had a clear crb. Perhaps offer to do a crb, so that parents are assured.

I'd see it as the nursery being flexible and inclusive and looking at the individuals needs rather than going strictly off policy which in my eyes is much better. I'd also feel that would be better for my child if that works well and the other child is settled with their parent there.

It wouldn't matter if I was ok with it's as it's a reasonable adjustment under the equality act 2010.

I'd like that the nursery was being inclusive.

Same.

It wouldn't bother me.

Those harping on about a DBS seems a mute point.
I doubt very much op will be left alone with any child, especially as her child needs 1-2-1.
There are plenty of people who go into schools/nursery who don't have a DBS and don't necessarily need one. They will be supervised and not left with a young person at any time.

Moot not mute 🙄

It's not bothering the children a parent is complaining because they want to stay.
Nursery need to get a grip and respond accordingly.
