Just that really. Looking for some inspiration before I place the delivery order for the weekly groceries!

With mushrooms, peppers and onions

Jojobees · 13/07/2023 21:46

Same as us, chicken balti with rice and naan. Some sag aloo and sag paneer.

LittleBumblebee3 · 13/07/2023 21:47

Love these threads 👍🏻

Spag Bol here tonight 😊 yoghurt and cherries after as he was still hungry.

Tomorrow is chilli (made with turkey mince) and either jacket potato or sweet potato wedges - whatever he’d prefer

Saturday is chickpea, sweet potato and spinach curry with rice

Thats as far as I’ve planned so following for meal ideas for next week 😊👍🏻

Housenoob · 13/07/2023 21:53

Daal and roti.

Struggling a bit at the moment. Lots of meals having to be 'deconstructed'. As in, she sometimes won't eat pasta when it's mixed with the hidden veg sauce I make, but she'll eat the pasta separately and the sauce separately as a 'soup'. Won't eat a fish pie but will have the components separately. Etc. Hoping this is just a phase!!

shangelawasrobbed · 13/07/2023 21:54

Pasta with cheese sauce, peas and courgettes. Yoghurt for pudding.

IncomingTraffic · 13/07/2023 21:56

Rice with chicken and veg. He kept telling me he likes vegetables. But did he eat any? Obviously not.

Smarshian · 13/07/2023 21:58

Quiche, veg sticks, cheese, hummus and crackers

ALifeofarfid · 13/07/2023 22:06

The same as always. A plate of plain pasta (has to be the bows), 4 chicken nuggets and a piece of white bread toast (medium slice hovis no butter) only drinks water

breakfast is always a just ripe banana (has to have just turned from green to yellow!) and 2 frubes

Lunch is always a piece of white bread toast, a packet of carrot baby puff crisps, if I’m really lucky she will eat some melon and occasionally a bit of chicken. ASD and ARFID rule the house here 😭

AnotherCountryMummy · 13/07/2023 22:08

White fish, baby potatoes, carrots and roasted pepper. Shoved it all in one tray with olive oil and some herbs.

He didn't touch the pepper but liked the rest.

takealettermsjones · 13/07/2023 22:45

Cheese, ham and spinach quiche. With about forty tons of ketchup.

These threads make me feel so bad about myself as a parent. Why doesn't my toddler eat balti and saag, or fish, or any other nice thing I try? Why haven't I prepared a sweet potato curry for the weekend? It's usually either pasta or sausages here 😒

Jojobees · 14/07/2023 06:40

atthebottomofthehill please don’t feel bad. It’s luck. I have 2 boys with a massive age gap ( secondary infertility) they both eat anything and everything with gusto. It’s luck. I haven’t done anything special that they eat it.
Some kids will eat lots of variety others won’t. Mine happened to eat balti last night but will also happily eat beige food.
Please don’t feel bad.

Hopingforbetterluck · 14/07/2023 10:16

Cheese sandwich, veg sticks, fruit and yogurt. DS has his hot meal at lunch time and had sausages, mash and peas.

@atthebottomofthehill they make me feel bad too! DS used to eat everything but now he’s three and become so picky. I feel like I do the same four meals in rotation. This thread has given me some inspiration to try again though. I’m on my way to the supermarket to pick up some bits for him. I’m about to wean DD and I’m really hoping once he sees her eating all the things he used to have he’ll try them again.

AnotherCountryMummy · 14/07/2023 11:52

@atthebottomofthehill please don't feel bad!! My toddler eats an insane amount of pasta and sausages! I just think if he likes it then crack on 🙂

ZacharinaQuack · 14/07/2023 11:56

Mine had macaroni cheese at nursery then came home and had soup with bread and butter for second tea.

@atthebottomofthehill I find my toddler will eat pretty much anything (chilli, curries) as long as I call it 'beans and rice' or 'chicken and sauce' (except on days when we don't like sauce, obvs, in which case I rebrand it as 'soup'). It's all about the branding in my house.

Moonlightsonatas · 14/07/2023 11:59

We did BLW and my toddler used to eat everything, now it’s plain pasta and fruit. I’ve tried everything but she will just refuse to eat rather than eat a vegetable now. Kids are so stressful.

UndercoverCop · 14/07/2023 12:00

Kedgeree for dinner tonight one of his favourites have to make sure he doesn't pinch all the soft boiled eggs before I even sit down

TheBirdintheCave · 14/07/2023 12:01

Deconstructed Yakisoba so (for him) fried noodles, plain chicken and carrots separated on a plate.

He was a one year old who would eat anything but then turned two and became incredibly picky which is so frustrating. I'm really hoping it's not a prolonged phase. I was flabbergasted yesterday when he actually ate the carrots and noodles.

Peony654 · 14/07/2023 12:04

Whatever we are having. No idea why you'd make them their own meal. Curry, spaghetti, stir fry, salmon and veg, risotto.

Oh snap but I know from my older one they generally emerge from it at around 4. Toddler DS had homemade pita bread pizza with ham, crudites, few berries and a petit filous for dinner yesterday. The only fish he’ll eat is of the finger variety and the only way he’ll even eat pasta is with red pesto. So long as they’re happy to eat a reasonable variety of tastes and textures then don’t worry about it, it’s just a phase and it will pass!
