Finally found a flat I like/ can afford but there's no bath!!

Bit of backstory I live at home with parents and my 1 year old, work part time and also receive benefits. I've been trying to move out for months but landlords where I live don't like taking on people on benefits and alsoo it's so hard to find anything where I live within my budget. So I found a flat not too far away in an ok location which is sort of in my budget that I like BUT it has no bath. (My daughter has oilatum baths for her eczema). I was looking at those foldable baths but I'm not sure one would fit in the shower because of the shape of it, it's a smallish corner shower. Is there any solution to this.. Am I over thinking it or should I leave it

at 18 months she isn't going to need more than 1 bath a week. You could take her to your local pool?

HollyFern1110 · 15/04/2023 21:43

Definitely don't be put off. There are options to use until DD is big enough to use a shower.

Just a thought but my dd plays with bath toys happily in a shower. You can get tubes to stick on the walls where water falls down. She loves messing with mini bath bombs in a shower too. You might find she adapts great 👍

Swimming pool full of chlorine for a child with eczema who uses Oilatum? Or have I missed something.

I have a very nice and sturdy foldable laundry basket. It has a strong plastic rim and the soft plastic sides fold flat to store it away. We use it as a pet bath and it's lasted great. It would be absolutely fine for a small child and easy to clean. There are specifically designed items online bit this is loads better. Complete no brainer to take the flat in this rental market (lack of paragraphs sponsored by mumsnets reaction to android)

Well this thread has been opened my eyes. We don’t have a bath and have a young child visiting soon. Problem solved!

Billsandfights · 15/04/2023 21:51

I had the same problem. My baby is 18 months, she had the newborn one of this bath and loved it. This one is great and fits in mine and my mums shower cubicle.

@ThisIsMyHappyFacee how easy is it to get in and out of? I struggle with both in a normal bath

Rockfordpeach · 15/04/2023 21:55

You might find her eczema improves from not having baths all the time and showering instead

Losingmymind85 · 15/04/2023 22:01

We used this. It saved on water and DD well until she was 3!
Munchkin White Hot Inflatable Baby Bath Duck Tub, suitable for alternative to larger paddling pools for small children, babies or toddlers. Ideal Baby Bath for traveling or for use at home. https://amzn.eu/d/6xT2qiI

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2023 22:05

My friend used a paddling pool in the shower. That worked well.

Wouldn't like to meet that thing unexpectedly on a dark night Grin

Good suggestion, though!

CalloohCallayFrabjousDay · 15/04/2023 22:47

I'd stick her in the kitchen sink!

mathanxiety · 15/04/2023 23:09

Definitely use the paddling pool. You pull out the plug and it empties straight down the shower drain.

Take the flat!

Youdoyoubabe · 15/04/2023 23:14

I would take it if you are desperate to move out. If I was on my own with a one year old I would be wanting to stay at my parents though......

@BernadetteIsMySister lol I did think that! Thought maybe some landlords are more lenient 😂

I have got a clue thank you 🙄🙄🙄

Have previously done it. We paid for the goods which was as cheap as chips and then paid professionally for someone to come in and fit it ( that was the expense ) the landlord said it would have added value so as much as we had to pay out depends on how long you are there if it's long term and for the reasons you have mentioned then it's definitely worth it

@BernadetteIsMySister feeling a bit stupid now are we 🤣

@Stratocumulus I just feel guilty cause she loves her baths and playing with all her bath toys id feel bad taking that away from her 🥺

The inflatable pool sounds like a great idea and no I'd keep inflated all the time op

Mmndanone · 15/04/2023 21:23

You can play with bath toys in the shower too 😊

Course you can but not the same especially if you are a bath person

My eldest has an en suite with a shower and will bath 6 out of 7 days of the week and only use the shower once - she just loves relaxing in the bath and as a child playing in the bath and like for the reasons op has explained
