Smaller. As the youngest, I was lost amongst all my siblings so decided with two, they can have a better quality of life and better individual attention. There isn't much of an age gap so treated more equally than general older/younger dynamics.

I do miss the hustle and bustle at Christmas though. Took me a while to realise children don't need a mass of presents, it's just because that's what we always woke up to because there were so many of us. Same with cooking, took me a while to adjust to our portion sizes, I didn't need to make so much but again, that's all I'd ever known 😅

I do love having two, I would have considered a third but it works perfect for us as it is.

Costacoffeeplease · 10/04/2023 09:06

Smaller. I’m one of 4, and have 0 children and 0 desire to have any

Yumsnet · 10/04/2023 09:10

Bigger. I’m an only and have 3 children.

WhatTheHeckyPeck · 10/04/2023 09:19

Smaller by choice. I have 1, my parents had 3.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 10/04/2023 09:25

Bigger. I was a lonely only dragged around Europe for df's job. I have 2 children.

CoalCraft · 10/04/2023 09:26

Depends - dad had four kids, mum had one. I have two.

annonymousse · 10/04/2023 09:58

Smaller. I was one of 4 but I only have 2 dc myself.

jackstini · 10/04/2023 10:05

Same for me, I'm one of two
Dh is one of three so smaller for him

AlltheFs · 10/04/2023 10:06

Smaller. I have 1DC but I have a brother and DH has 2 siblings he is NC with.

gladhaw · 10/04/2023 15:45

The same. I'm one of two and have two. We struggled to conceive number two and the thought of my eldest being an only horrified me

Meandfour · 10/04/2023 15:46

The same. I’m one of 4 and my childhood was amazing. I have always wanted 4 and feel very lucky we were in a position where we were able to have them all.

wlv12 · 10/04/2023 15:47

Smaller.

I’m one of 3 and have 2 children myself.
I’m very lucky after loss and multiple IVF’s.

Parker231 · 10/04/2023 16:14

Same - am one of two as is DH. Had DT’s although planned on an only child!

2chocolateoranges · 10/04/2023 16:17

For me it’s the same size. My mum had a ds and a dd and so do I. For dh our family is smaller as he is one of 4 but adamant that he didn’t want that many children. I would have liked 3 he wanted 1 we compromised at 2.

GreenMarigold · 10/04/2023 16:18

Bigger. I was an only child and have 2 children of my own.

I’d always imagined only having 1 child but when it came to it I was surprised to discover that I really wanted a second.

SouthLondonMum22 · 10/04/2023 16:22

It will be smaller. I'm 1 of 3 and we currently have 1, will have 1 more.

FourTeaFallOut · 10/04/2023 16:22

The same. I was one of three and we have three. Dh was in a family of three too.

CiverRale · 17/04/2023 18:22

Same for me.

My DH is one of 7. Half his siblings have no kids by choice. No one has more than 2.

Ringmaster27 · 17/04/2023 18:27

Bigger by 1 DC

MuMmaOf3littles · 17/04/2023 18:35

The same, well will be come July. I'm one of 4 and currently have 2 boys and a girl with another boy joining us

WomBat55 · 17/04/2023 18:41

Smaller. I’m one of 5 and I have an only child. I would have liked a second but it didn’t work out.

I was starved of attention and affection as a child and it has had a lasting impact on me. But that wasn’t solely down to having 4 siblings - both of my parents were workaholics and we had very little family time.

OneCup · 17/04/2023 18:55

Same. Only child and only have one child. It's perfect for us.
