Brands for slim children?

My nearly 2 year old is on the 9th percentile and fairly short. He's just moved into 18-24 months clothes and it's fine length wise but often he just drowns in his clothes.

Any brand suggestions that cater for slim children? I have to often fold over his trousers at the waistband so they don't fall down. I have an older son who doesn't have this issue.

He's actually a really good eater, just lost lots of weight after birth and then stayed on that percentile ever since.

Gap, zara.

My boys that age were almost always in leggings which is a good initial place to start. Even now my 5 year old is always pulling up jeans and school trousers (at parents evening this week they asked me to get him a belt 😄)

Polarn are always really good for nice thick snug long lasting leggings. Also really love Lindex’s ribbed leggings. I think both brands have adjustable waistbands.

I have a DS like that. Trousers are nightmare. Like a PP, I tend to put him in leggings most of the time. He has one pair of jeans from M&S that fit okay but most other proper trousers have to be held up with one of my hair bands.

H&M. Adjustable waistbands are your friend. And leggings from the girls section. Good luck, my slim tall boy is 8 and it's still a struggle!

Mayoral. Actually, generally the French, Italian and Spanish brands are good for the long skinnies.

RandomMess · 03/04/2023 21:09

Verbaudet

Treeeeeeee · 03/04/2023 21:10

Next - they have adjustable waists

LashesZ · 03/04/2023 21:10

My DD also on 9th centile has the exact same problem. I found the best and non restrictive way is to sew the waistband in at the side (needs 0 skill) and then I can unpick it if she eventually gets any bigger.

La Redoute.

I find the French brands are particularly slim fitted. Not ideal for my chunk of a boy. 😆

Burpcloth · 04/04/2023 14:21

Marks & Spencer - I found the baby clothes oversized and wide, but the toddler clothes oversized and narrow (I mention just in case your baby clothes experience meant you had written them off!)

MadeInChorley · 04/04/2023 14:25

Petit Bateau without a doubt. Mine were all super skinny and they were a great fit with adjustable waistbands and very slim fit. PB clothes are expensive though, but worth every penny and wash brilliantly, so look on Vinted or similar.

MuffinToSeeHere · 04/04/2023 14:25

Leggings especially from the girls section and also Primark for trousers with adjustable waistbands. I've tried every other brand as the mum of a 3 year old on the 2nd percentile and always come back to Primark.

Other brands sometimes do trousers with adjustable waists but Primark is my go to as almost all theirs have the option as standard.

6namechang3 · 04/04/2023 14:27

Decathlon, more French sizings!

MyMachineAndMe · 04/04/2023 15:16

I learned how to sew so I can take trousers up and in because they're always the wrong size and shape for my DC!

Vodababy · 04/04/2023 15:17

Definitely Next

CoalCraft · 04/04/2023 15:28

I also have a tiny toddler - she's 2.5 years and a lot of 18-24 month stuff is still big on her. I find M&S, Asda George and JMB fit best.

CoalCraft · 04/04/2023 15:28

Oh and yes, also Next.

Just came on here to say H&M!

DD is 2 in May and she’s just gone into 18-24m clothing and they fit very well

Signalman · 04/04/2023 15:37

Petit Bateau. Buy in their sales. My child is so skinny and these work.

Bandanadrama · 04/04/2023 15:38

Primark are quite small. I think we have vanity sizing for children in the UK.

RiverRock22 · 04/04/2023 15:40

I find Asda and Tesco good for small sizing.

OTOH I find Next and M&S quite big

ShandaLear · 04/04/2023 15:41

H&M and Zara have ‘neat’ fitting clothes and worked well for my similarly built son.

Sceptre86 · 05/04/2023 07:56

I would use h and m or river island in this case. Next have slim fit trousers and jeans that I tend to buy my son.

MyLoveIsYourLove0xO · 05/04/2023 08:03

I have the same problem
Next is your friend Smile
