Then vaseline as a preventative once healed

Baby wipes do not help with rash either your best using just warm water and a flannel

We never got anywhere with metanium but canesten cream was like a miracle. Ds was red raw all over the nappy area, it was awful. 2 days of canesten at each change and it was completely gone. I believe it’s fine from very young.

Sounds like your baby has thrush

Many do as warm moist areas

Many a time I've gone to work as a maternity nurse and mum says it's nappy rash and I see it and say it's thrush

And doctor agrees

We used bepanthen at every change as a preventive barrier cream, as recommended by the HV and almost never had nappy rash after that. For the really grim teething poos that did cause rash, agree with pps that metanium is magic stuff. Ended up rarely using Sudocrem, though we are slowly chugging our way through the big tub I bought before DD was born (perils of being too organised!) as turns out it's magic on minor burns, scratches etc - sorts them out much quicker than Savlon/Germolene cream

Another one here saying yellow Metanium!

My gosh who are these people rubbing an egg white on their baby’s bum? Just use nappy cream like every normal person!

meranium is amazing. Another vote

What are you using at the moment OP?

Stay away from the wipes, even the water wipes, the only time my little one got a bit of nappy rash was when I was using these at the start and they are 11 months now and have been clear ever since.

Use some old towels for nappy free time and once the rash has cleared then use cotton pads and warm water to clean and a thin layer of Vaseline.

Bare bottom time will really speed up healing, pop baby on a couple of folded up towels, naked in a warm room, or cuddle with a towel underneath, change babies position after an hour or so so that different bits of the rash are getting exposed to the air. (Avoid the creams during this) it's amazing how much difference it makes quite quickly to the skin.
Then always gentle dabbing not wiping.
Metanium should be dabbed off every few changes with a cotton ball dipped in oil (sunflower oil is quite gentle for babies skin) not scrubbed off with water.
Babies bottom should be dry not left wet in the nappy.
My preferred cream is bepanthen for mild nappy rash but metanium us good for severe.
It will clear up, but if it is hanging around see GP incase of bad thrush or other infection..thrush often looks like a spotty rash.
