I have a spotty and stripey one too and find they are a softer slimmer fleece and less prone to bobbling than the red wrap.

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 18:00

oh thanks i don't use it cos it is so bulky it is huge once onto pof a nappy much bigger than a normal wrap

I do find the red more reliable though

do fleece wraps get less effective as they get old? we have a tots stripey one from ebay, it was good to start with but the last few times we used it the bed sheet was wet so we went back to plastic wraps

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 21:24

Liz79 cheekey i know but would u be selling this if it is a size 1 as i belive they are slimmer fitting than the red bots i have got it doesn't bother me bout leaking a bit i just want to try the fit

OP posts:
Liz79 · 29/01/2008 21:37

sure you can buy it if you want! I don't know if it is "broken" or if we are doing something wrong??! How much? Whats your address?

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 21:37

Nope, you just need more absorbency in the nappy

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 21:42

how much would u want for it and what size is it

also are u supposed to use a fleece liner as i keep hearing every1 saying they use one but i don't use anything does it mean taht it is not nice fro him and how often should i change him in a reusable

OP posts:
Liz79 · 29/01/2008 21:46

Whats the deal with absorbency? How do you know its full? We have bamboozles and fluffles, she is 6 weeks old. Bamboozles always seem more sopping wet than fluffles even though should be more absorbent? If it just feels a bit damp is it good for a bit longer or do you change it as soon as you notice? We check it at every feed and change if damp/wet. Also check it if she's crying. babyjjbaby - give me a couple of days to try it again and I'll get back to you. Maybe shouldn't give up just yet!! We have some peachycheeks boosters which seem to be just 2 layers of fleece, aren't these just like fleece liners and therefore not absorbent? What about boosting it with a face cloth? She gets changed about every 3-4 hours at night, depending on when she wakes up. Thanks

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 21:48

Fleece liners will keep his bum nice n dry , disposable ones keep them a bit dry but not as dry, and no liner means he has full wetness all the time.

You tend to need to change every 3-4 hours depending on the nappy/heavy wetting etc. A properly boosted nappy will last the 12 hours or so through a night no problem.

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 21:50

2 layers of fleece won't do anything for absorbency.

Fluffles feel dryer because of the fabric - the liquid is trapped between the fibres rather than within (if I am remembering right, could be talking science sounding cr*p ).

It should feel wet when you take it off - not hanging off dripping, but more than just one wee dampness.

Just watching the end of csi - will be back

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 21:51

thanks i need some liners then bad mumy alert where is the cheapest place to get them from

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 29/01/2008 21:59

Cut up an old/cheap fleece blanket and make your own liners.

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 22:00

where do i get a cheap blanket from sorry thick lol

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 29/01/2008 22:01

Night nappies and wraps just ARE bulky - you just need bigger pj's! Although they look comical the red wraps are the most reliable ones. I get much more moisture wicking from the stripey and spotty fleece wraps.

FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 22:01

Cheapest would be to go and buy either a fleece blanket (ikea if you are near one), or a fabric shop and just cut some rectangles of fleece (large enough to cover the whole nappy width between legs). If not, most nappy sites sell them. I do them on bumfluff for 50p a liner (or a price very similar to that )

Boosters - you can easily just use folded face cloths. Microfibre cleaning cloths are cheap, slim and absorbent - a couple of those folded in a night nappy are great.

Looking on peachycheeks now - (or trying to - that site is a nightmare to navigate ) - if it ever loads I can look at the boosters!

Washersaurus · 29/01/2008 22:02

Sorry xpost there!

I have used old blankets from charity shops or primark, and off cuts/roll ends purchased from ebay.

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 22:02

see he is a very ligth wtter i only put him a terry nappy on or a tots bots and taht is fine

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 22:04

Not a clue with the peachycheeks thing.

Wool wraps are better than fleece btw They absorb a bit too, so wick less.

Washersaurus · 29/01/2008 22:04

Blimey, I have to put both my boys in tots bots nappies and 2 microfibre boosters!!

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 22:07

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 29/01/2008 22:07

For night DS had a bamboo square, with a bamboo quick flip on top

babyjjbaby · 29/01/2008 22:10

whats a quick flip and also any good sites fro fllece liners and a bag for putting the nappies in

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 29/01/2008 22:10

DS1 is 2.5, he has needed the 2 boosters since he was about 1 year old. We did go through a stage with him where we had to use 3 boosters . Poor boy couldn't really sleep on his back - used to sleep on his front with his bum in the air!

DS2 is 6mo, he usually just has the one booster at the moment TBH but I forsee that he will need more boosting before long.

Liz79 · 29/01/2008 22:11

My boosters aren't on their ebay shop,or their website. They came with the bamboozles BTP pack. Was supposed to be tots bots boosters though, which include some terry but I can't see how these would. I thought boosters were for bigger babies who do bigger wees and go longer at night. Not my little girl!

So when I feed her at night, if she's just a little damp do I leave her or change her?
