Just that really.

Nope I have 13 month-18 months between all mine and i would only see 13-15 as short

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/10/2022 19:07

Average neither small or large. Too small for me but not small- small is less than 18 months imo

YourUserNameMustBeAtLeast3Characters · 01/10/2022 19:08

It’s normal. 2 years is standard.

I have 20 months between my two and I might say I have a small age gap when referring to the fact they’re one school year apart, but really I’d say below 18 months is a small age gap.

No. I have almost exactly 2 years between dd1 and ds, then 22 months between ds and dd2.

I don't feel like I had especially short gaps, though 3 under 4 was challenging. MIL had 16 months between dh and bil and I think that's a short gap!

MassiveSalad22 · 01/10/2022 19:09

No, bang on average I’d say. To me, close is under 2 years or 18 months really.

Ponderingwindow · 01/10/2022 19:09

Not at all.

milawops · 01/10/2022 19:12

I'd say it's average. There's 13 months between my two I would class that as a small gap

EekThreek · 01/10/2022 19:13

No.
Just that really

ILoveMonday · 01/10/2022 19:13

I'd say it's quite big but in my family we have form for popping them out quickly.

My sister had twins, 15 months between my 2 and 17 months between me and my sister.

Birdie135 · 01/10/2022 19:15

Average gap

pimlicoanna · 01/10/2022 19:17

Pretty standard

Under 2 years... small
2-4 years average
4+ years big

That’s exactly what I’d have said too.

FlounderingFruitcake · 01/10/2022 19:19

Anything between 2 and 4 years is pretty average. That said, these days I think lots of people are pushing the gap to latter half of that range so 3-4 years, not the 2-3 years that was more common when I was a child, probably because of the cost of having 2 in childcare means it’s preferable to wait for the funded hours if not school age for the eldest.

Crappydoo · 01/10/2022 19:22

I had three under three and a half that was interesting! But they are all good friends now at 19, 18 and 16 🤪

buttergloss · 01/10/2022 19:23

I have 2 years 9 months between my last 2 and it seemed a tiny gap to me personally compared to my first gap of 10 years but it is very average amongst my children's peers and lots of our friends have the exact same gap.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 01/10/2022 19:23

Nope. I would say 2-4 years is fairly normal. Less than 2 years I would see as a small age gap and 5+ years a bigger one.

CatSeany · 01/10/2022 19:36

No. Mine are 20 months apart and I think that's small, mainly because my son was not talking and still in nappies (therefore still a baby really) when my daughter arrived. I'd go for what I would call a normal or reasonable age gap if we have a third i.e. verbal child and probably potty trained... so I would aim 28 months plus.

Tansytea · 01/10/2022 19:43

Not at all.

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2022 19:55

My sibling and I are this age difference to the day Grin

Pretty standard age difference in our friendship groups.

Mommabear20 · 01/10/2022 19:59

Nope, sounds average. I have 13 months between 1&2, and will have 15 months between 2&3, with a total of 2yrs5months between 1&3.

Whitewolf2 · 01/10/2022 20:00

No, I’d class around 18/19months and under as a small gap.

Under 2 years... small
2-4 years average
4+ years big

Agreed.

TimeForMeToF1y · 01/10/2022 20:05

Not at all, that's nearly 3 years, has someone said it is?

OceanbreezeSun · 01/10/2022 20:08

No, I’d say that is average.

I would say anything under 2 years is a small age gap. 4 years+ is bigger.

VroomVrooom · 01/10/2022 20:09

No.

Why do you ask @37andfree ?
