Have people cancelled kids birthday parties following E II R 's passing?

Concerning the period of mourning i.e. until the funeral.
Some kids parties (with seriously loud disco celebrations) are going ahead as planned. What is the appropriate etiquette in terms of guest attire if they (guests) would rather wear black and had a quieter event altogether (if any).
Have people excused themselves and cancelled their attendance?

Thank you in advance.

No and don't intend to. We're off to a child's party that had to be cancelled at short notice last weekend and rescheduled to today.

I believe the queen would not have wanted childrens lifes to be affected negatively and parties cancelled.

I'm sad at her passing and have made my nod to her but the party will still be going ahead

Michellebops · 10/09/2022 08:44

No black either, the queen liked to wear bright colours and stand out. Adults can wear black if they choose to.

PinkPlantCase · 10/09/2022 08:44

It’s a kids party. Do exactly the same as you would have done before.

Mischance · 10/09/2022 08:45

Just carry on as normal - can't imagine why anyone would not - it's a child's party FGS!!

NuffSaidSam · 10/09/2022 08:48

Carry on as normal.

If you are in mourning for the Queen and want to wear black etc. I would suggest you don't attend the party. I don't think you can go to a child's party dressed in black, requesting the atmosphere be more sombre. Send your child with another adult.

TeenDivided · 10/09/2022 08:49

I wouldn't cancel a kids party for this, (nor expect children to wear different coloured clothes unless attending a formal event marking The Queen's death.)

Thank you for responses.
Good to have independent views on the subject.

Don't punish your kids because a very old lady they never met has died

KalvinPhillipsBoots · 10/09/2022 09:43

No, why would we?

Kanaloa · 10/09/2022 09:51

My kids will be celebrating birthdays and living normal life. Do you think the queen would have given one single fuck if your child’s dropped dead tomorrow? She and all her family would not have cared less if you and your kids were starving in the street. She wouldn’t have thrown you a crust of bread. So no, my kids won’t be playing at mourning for some random woman they didn’t know who lived to a great old age in opulence and luxury.

Ihatethenewlook · 10/09/2022 09:53

What??? No 😂😂

Goldbar · 10/09/2022 10:16

I wouldn't expect children's parties to be rearranged or cancelled except for perhaps the day of the funeral.

And wearing black and other signs of 'mourning' are not imo appropriate in any way at a child's party.

Skinnermarink · 10/09/2022 10:20

Absolutely not!!! First birthday party going ahead tomorrow, can’t wait 😃

I am sad that people are sad for the Queen but really, it’s nothing to do with my son and his birthday.

BendingSpoons · 10/09/2022 10:23

My kids have missed so many birthday parties. I would not expect them to miss any more. My grandmother died earlier this year too. I didn't make my kids miss out on things then either, apart from the day of the funeral, and that was family.

abovedecknotbelow · 10/09/2022 10:26

Why on earth would you cancel?

homarrre · 10/09/2022 10:31

In the nicest way possible..this is absolutely nuts. I would carry on as normal.

averageavocado · 10/09/2022 10:33

Disco fine, full black tie for attendees if possible, including veils

Jules912 · 10/09/2022 10:34

Nope, DD's is next week and will be going ahead unless it's the day of the funeral ( in which case I suspect the venue may close). No one has told me they're not coming in light of this.

cherrysthename · 10/09/2022 10:35

Omg 😂 could you imagine explaining to someone the reason you'd dropped out of a child's party in favour of wearing black and watching the raindrops running down your window is because you're mourning the queen? You'd be thought of as erm...a bit quirky

BeetrootBeetrootGhali · 10/09/2022 10:35

This is getting ridiculous.

1994girl · 10/09/2022 10:36

If anyones cancelled plans because of the Queen I think its utterly stupid.

My 6 year old went to a birthday party after school yesterday. All the kids in bright colours running around like loons as always and all parents wearing usual school run clothes as far as I could see.

Comedycook · 10/09/2022 10:37

Give your head a wobble...of course you don't need to wear black. How completely ridiculous.
