Have people cancelled kids birthday parties following E II R 's passing?

Concerning the period of mourning i.e. until the funeral.
Some kids parties (with seriously loud disco celebrations) are going ahead as planned. What is the appropriate etiquette in terms of guest attire if they (guests) would rather wear black and had a quieter event altogether (if any).
Have people excused themselves and cancelled their attendance?

Thank you in advance.

Omg people have lost it entirely now. Can you imagine a room full of 7 years olds dressed in black having a sombre little disco while wind beneath my wings plays???

Seriously, the vast vast majority of little kids neither knew the queen nor cared!

Why should a child's party be canceled just because the Queen died? I have lost very close family members and and saw no reason to cancel children's events. Children and young people have missed out on such a lot over the past couple of years. Letting them enjoy life is not going to impact one jot on the Royal family

It hadn't crossed my mind to cancel DS's 14th birthday event ("it's not a party Mum") tomorrow..

Wow - just off to a party now. I was genuinely sad to hear the queen had died and I still am but I never for one minute expected childrens parties to be cancelled. I suppose maybe if it clashed with the funeral but otherwise just no!!

Don't punish your kids because a very old lady they never met has died

I agree with with this! Sadness at the ending of an era and the passing of a good woman is fine. But I feel anything else is just virtue signalling nonsense at this stage.
The day of her funeral might be a day to wear black etc. But right now happy things like birthday parties should carry on.
I’m fairly sure the queen herself would want it that way.

Me and DH are taking DS to a one year old's birthday party today and were hoping wondering if it was going to be cancelled too. Looks like it's all going ahead as normal!

I think the R stands for Regina

I can't imagine why the government haven't included children's birthday parties on the list of official guidance for events which they have released following the Queen's death. Oh no, just let me think about that for a second…

Is anyone racking their brains about how to organise a suitable 'mourning' children's party? Disco and bouncy castle presumably out, but maybe quiet colouring-in and a few respectful renditions of the new national anthem might be OK.

It's mainly very large audience participation stuff that has been cancelled, DHs small events are going on as usual this weekend, of course private childrens parties can go ahead.

Easy salted crisps only.
Sandwiches cut into rectangles, not triangle.
Full-sized sausages lest cocktail sausage not prove sufficiently somber.
Instead if party bags there will be sad bags full of already-sticky lollipops, homework, and pocket money tax slips.

@Comedycook
R for Regina
Letters on vast majority of postboxes for the past 70 years.

Children wearing black to their own birthday parties and dialling down the volume because a 96 year old woman they never met has died? No thank you.
Anyone who doesn't want to partake in celebrations this week doesn't have to, but I don't think anyone should have to change their plans unless they really want to.
