Can we have a brag thread about our kids??

Can we have a thread where we can shamelessly brag about our kids achievements? I feel so often that we can't discuss our kids achievements in RL because others don't like it 😅 I'll go first:

My DD made me proud today by telling me she'd done a number 2 in her nappy! First time I've not had to chase her round the house to check! She's only just 2 and this feels like a massive step towards toilet training! 🙌

Come brag about your incredible kids!

OP posts:

she did a shit. That’s it. 🤮

girlmom21 · 01/08/2022 12:15

Yeah sorry OP that's not brag worthy.

BeanieTeen · 01/08/2022 12:20

I can understand why you’re happy. I can’t understand why you need to share this with strangers, how that further improves your experience. Sorry.

What weird comments. Anyone who is a parent understands how proud even small things can make you. And I actually really like hearing people tell me the small wins with their kids.

Yeah it's great for OP - it's a big step forward - but it's not the kind of thing you discuss with others

namechanged4it · 01/08/2022 12:31

Gosh I thought you were going to say my DC graduated with a first in medicine or law or saved someone's life.

PaisleyPickle · 01/08/2022 12:38

No body on the internet wants to hear about your kid doing a shit in their nappy either. It's not just reserved for 'real life'.

dizzydizzydizzy · 01/08/2022 12:39

Aww! Well I remember those days, OP!

My brag: DD is studying chemistry at a top university and is so far hitting a 1st. She is half way through the course.

VeronicaBeccabunga · 01/08/2022 12:39

Mine just got a distinction in her Master's degree, done part-time while doing a stressy job.
She was a total pain to toilet train, all those years ago, so my congrats to you and your kid!

Why not? If any of my friends told me that in real life I would be happy for them. It might not be something you care about now or seem like a big deal but I’m sure when your DC was In that stage of life you were quite happy too.

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/08/2022 12:43

💩well done OP

colourmebladd · 01/08/2022 12:45

Why is everyone being so shitty (pun intended)?
Have you all forgotten how the smallest things feel like real progress when they’re so small?
Enjoy your time with your toddler OP, don’t let these sourpuss grumpy faces bring you down.

colourmebladd · 01/08/2022 12:47

(Note - I started writing my post before the last few had posted)

johnd2 · 01/08/2022 12:52

Wtf at the negative responses, was the OP getting above their station or something?

To the OP will done and you own your experience! It's the only way to get through it is to celebrate the small things. I think you have a great attitude to pass on to your child (unlike the above posters)

Coachwork · 01/08/2022 12:56

Claim your victories, fuck everyone else.
DC1 (27 ADHD) engaged, great career, bought a house three years ago.
DC2 18, always struggled academically but is flying in his apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
DC3 gained all 8s and 9s in her mock GCSEs recently and is predicted A** in maths, biology, chemistry and physics, amongst others.
I have a life threatening illness and have almost died three times during their childhood (think life support/ICU) and spend long periods of time in hospital. I'm so proud of DC and how they've coped. I'd never brag like this IRL.

girlmom21 · 01/08/2022 12:57

@Mumnetter111 I've got one 12 months past that stage and one 12 months prior to that stage so I can be very confident in how I feel about this. It's definitely not something I wanted to brag to my friends about although it's something I was very happy about for myself and my LO.

KarlWrenbury · 01/08/2022 12:57

Yeah. But she bragged her kid did a shit

Danikm151 · 01/08/2022 13:02

She bragged that her child communicated with her about what had happened. At 2 that is a big deal!
stop being so mean, do you not remember the joy of your little one actually telling you things and not having to guess!

my brag about my 2 year old is that he is now at the what you doing phase! Next is why!

Sux2buthen · 01/08/2022 13:08

Well I want to hear it OP.
Well done to your little one, gaining awareness of what they're doing is a great sign that they are learning
Miserable sods on here sometimes, can't wait to drag people down to join them lol
My brag would be that my toddler managed not to have a tantrum in the shop yesterday until we had almost left rather than putting on an impressive display the second we walked in Grin
I'll take any slight success lol

Pac35 · 01/08/2022 13:10

I feel like this all the time. My 4 month old is reaching for things and rolling over and I of course think he's a genius. When actually that's just normal 😂

Spritesobright · 01/08/2022 13:16

DD10 got invited to 3 different birthday parties this week. Pain for me but I'm just so pleased for her that she is so well liked and seems to find socialising so effortless.
She's very empathetic and kind, which I think shines through.

Sandrine1982 · 01/08/2022 13:19

Well done OP !!! I totally get it !!! F**k everyone else ;)

DD (will be 3 yo in sept) finally potty trained herself in A

Sandrine1982 · 01/08/2022 13:21

... in April and we also finally managed to stop breastfeeding last month !!!!!

so many changes ... I never thought I would manage to do these things. After sleep training they felt like mammoth tasks .. both ...

FVFrog · 01/08/2022 13:24

My DD23 with ASD is starting her journey home after completing a 5 week volunteer trip in Thailand. Pre diagnosis at 17 she made two suicide attempts and undertaking a trip like this on her own would have seemed impossible. I am so damn proud of her.

ScampiFlies · 01/08/2022 13:26

DD, who one year ago was petrified of water, jumped into the swimming pool today with a smile on her face.
