Best nappies for overnight?

Melisande90 · 21/07/2022 10:00

Hi, what nappies are best for overnight use in a young baby once they start to sleep for longer stretches at night? My formula fed DD is 4 months and wakes less often now for a feed during the night, often going from 11pm to 7am but there have been a couple of occasions where we’ve woke in the morning to find that her wet nappy has leaked over her vest and sheet and I’d like to avoid that obviously. I’ve tried Pampers and Tesco Fred & Flo but both the same issue. Also recently moved her from size 2 to 3 as she was outgrowing them anyway but that hasn’t always prevented it either. Thanks!

I am having the same issue. My LO is 4 months and just started sleeping 9.30pm till 5am and found his nappy has leaked twice this week (only started sleeping this long since Saturday). I was hoping moving from size 2 to size 3 nappies will help. We are also using pampers.

RoseValleyRambles · 21/07/2022 10:21

We're use reusables overnight. Bamboozle inners and waterproof nappy wraps, with a booster to up absorbancy.. Hasn't failed yet, though he was leaking through disposables nightly.

Melisande90 · 21/07/2022 10:22

@mrscotton Glad it’s not just us! I have friends who’s babies sleep like 12 hours at night and don’t seem to have this issue! Was thinking my LO must pee an abnormal amount 😂hopefully someone will be along soon with recommendations

@RoseValleyRambles I hadn’t even considered reusables, don’t know very much about them but would be worth a try. Are they machine washable, what temp etc do you wash them at?

Have you made sure the edges on the pampers are pulled out if that makes sense the only time I ever had a problem was when they weren't or my sons bits weren't angled downwards I always used the new baby ones the white ones with the yellow trio I found these ones were the most absorbable ones have you tried Aldi I hear they are good.

Melisande90 · 21/07/2022 12:32

@queenie2016 Yes I always make sure the “frilly” bits as I call them are pulled out. Sadly I’m in Northern Ireland and we don’t have Aldi Sad

Pampers active fit are expensive but good.
We use cheap Morrisons ones in the day and pampers at night.

Lockdownmummy · 21/07/2022 12:39

Make sure their vest isn't a bit tight round the poppers. A little bit of pressure on a full nappy can cause some leakage.

I do rate Sainsburys nappies though and have been good for 12hrs

Aldi Midi nappies (think they are size 3) and Rascal & friends are very good for overnight.

Sbena · 21/07/2022 18:09

Asda nappies are a WHOLE different quality than F&F

MissingGrandstand · 21/07/2022 18:13

Had exactly the same, Asda or Sainsburys are the only ones that work! We use Pampers during the day and either of those at night, but you may need to size up, my DD is Pampers size 2 and Asda/Sainsburys size 3. She will go 12 hours no bother now!

Morrisons/Aldi were both epic fails, and jury is out on Lidl as we tried once and it was a disaster but I think the Lidl 3s are still way too big for her so not a fair test.

SunshineAndFizz · 21/07/2022 18:24

Pampers all the way for me - try going up a size again and check the poppers on the vest isn't tight.

Chocoqueen · 21/07/2022 18:54

I use asda little angels and don't think they've ever leaked overnight, and rarely in the day (except for the odd poonami when she was younger). Have you tried going up another size? We use size 4 which say they stay dry for up to 12 hours.

Caspianberg · 21/07/2022 18:59

We also used tots bots bamboozles with cover ( reusable). No leaks in 2 years. You can just add extra inserts if baby wets more. I think 4-7months Ds was wettest if I remember as they drink the most then before eating more solids

Emlaeric · 21/07/2022 19:02

We actually use pampers night diapers and then put over a larger sized pull up over the night diaper to obsorb the extra urine. Works 90 percent of the time.

zeromango · 21/07/2022 20:13

Was really struggling with this too until ....

I've found the pull up nappy pants from Tesco excellent! They're so stretchy and comfy. DP bought them in error but they're great and DS has been using them size around 4 months old (he's now 6.5 months and not had a leak since)

zeromango · 21/07/2022 20:14

Since not size!

PinkPhlox · 21/07/2022 20:48

I had the same struggle and on a whim I tried the Boots Little Stories bamboo nappies - life changing!!!!!

Never had a leak or blow out since we've been using those. They don't get soggy like pampers do. Love them.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 21/07/2022 20:51

Never had a leak with Aldi nappies

SatinHeart · 21/07/2022 20:59

Nappy pants in one size bigger than daytime generally solved it for mine. I tend to favour pampers baby dry or Asda.

BanditBluey · 21/07/2022 21:01

Try Tesco and go up a size. They do nappy pants from size 4 too which I reccomend

Melisande90 · 21/07/2022 21:15

Thanks everyone, will try a few of the recommendations above to see what works. That’s a good point a couple of you have made re the vest poppers as she’s a long baby so some of her vests are straining at the poppers a bit, will choose some of her bigger ones for overnight x

If baby's vests are getting a bit small this can cause leaks, worth checking x

squirrelnutkins1 · 21/07/2022 21:16

Cross post whoops.
Also rate Asda nappies x
