Best nappies for overnight?

Hi, what nappies are best for overnight use in a young baby once they start to sleep for longer stretches at night? My formula fed DD is 4 months and wakes less often now for a feed during the night, often going from 11pm to 7am but there have been a couple of occasions where we’ve woke in the morning to find that her wet nappy has leaked over her vest and sheet and I’d like to avoid that obviously. I’ve tried Pampers and Tesco Fred & Flo but both the same issue. Also recently moved her from size 2 to 3 as she was outgrowing them anyway but that hasn’t always prevented it either. Thanks!

Aldi or Asda for us. Never leaked overnight with these.
Pampers leaked both times I tried them overnight.

We used bamboo superpee flats when DS1 was around that age. I think we doubled up too so used 2 folded together and a booster. DS2 is just 4 weeks and in little lamb bamboo with 2x boosters and that lasts all night (he currently isn't pooing overnight!)

For the vests, you can get vest extenders which are like an extra piece of vest material with poppers on to make them longer and looser round the nappy area.

My little one is a very very heavy wetter and pees through everything within a couple of hours. What's worked really well for us is using pampers pull up pants with a Sposie pad in them effectively doubling the pee capacity. I get the Sposie pads from Amazon. They're a bit like an adhesive free sanitary towel which you place in the nappy. They're not particularly cheap but very very effective and I wouldn't be without them. I've heard others use tena lady type pad which are cheaper but they didn't work for us. Good luck.

Little Lamb have got 50% off their nappies and wraps that are recommended for nighttime use atm if you were considering trying reusables?

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/07/2022 22:11

I’ve never used anything but pampers on my 3 dc (I’ve tried others briefly but I mean use long term)

smallest is 18mo now, never had a leak! I would assume it’s a non compatible shape so it’s just going to be trial and error unfortunately. This probably sounds patronising but are you sure you are doing them up properly? DH is crap at nighttime nappies as they have to be a really good one

so back of nappy almost up to small of back, flaps on the absorbent part out, tight round legs and front up to bottom of belly button- tabs no more than an inch apart. Should look quite fitted on their bum. Also what they wear on top can affect the leakage. Baby in a vest for example usually keeps nappy quite well secure whereas pajamas or a ones gives it more chance to flap around and get loose

Haha don’t worry about sounding patronising, there have been times I think to myself I could have put that nappy on better, but yes I get what you mean. Lots of things to trial and error.

Nothing worked for our DS so we had to double nappy him for quite a while. He just weed so much overnight!
he’s 3 now and ironically has been dry at night for quite a while 🤷‍♀️

@queenie2016 Yes I always make sure the “frilly” bits as I call them are pulled out. Sadly I’m in Northern Ireland and we don’t have Aldi Sad

Ahh I was going to suggest Aldi.... i use these for DD (5.5months) and she sleeps 7:30pm to 7am and no leakage. I've used pampers before and found they leaked, sainsburys little ones seem to be ok the majority of the time too

@RoseValleyRambles I hadn’t even considered reusables, don’t know very much about them but would be worth a try. Are they machine washable, what temp etc do you wash them at?

Yep, they wash at up to 60'. You get disposable liners so you can get rid of most of the poo first if that's an issue. And you'll have so much more space in your bin! :D

SecondhandTable · 22/07/2022 19:41

Pampers, but the special night time nappy pants. We've tried probably every single brand going between our two and these are hands down the most absorbent you can get

Melisande90 · 22/07/2022 22:56

Well last night I ensured that the back of the nappy was much much higher than the front, along with a bigger vest and it seems to have worked! Smile
