Huggy Wuggy in hiding

Hi all

I've read a few threads on this but given that the posts were entirely "why are you letting your children within 50m of the internet", I thought I'd shed some real light life on this.

Huggy Wuggy is not only on his own videos on youtube and tiktok (please bear in mind that primary school children show each other things) but he is now hiding in plain sight. Something like a peppa pig episode online has Huggy in the middle 5 minutes by very creative, very sick people. Many children fully believe that huggy is a good guy (there are ACTUAL SOFT TOYS OF HIM).

I work in a summer setting for primary school children and believe me, 5 and 6 year olds are very well aware what Huggy Wuggy does (He talks about squeezing you til you die, coming into your bedroom, taking your last breath). And from direct experience, very few of these children had direct access to you tube or anything at home.

Don't be naive, don't be judgemental. Having watched a child draw the creepy thing today, please do not underestimate it.

When I was very young I used to enjoy singing a song about dying of plague. Actually nursery encouraged us to dance round together singing it!

Later I enjoyed watching various characters trying to murder each other in really very violent ways. Getting hit with hammers, being run over, smashed into rocks, crushed or blown up to name a few. Wile E Cyote for example.

Managed not to become too much of a degenerate.

"hysterical" - work a day in my shoes with children then come back and spout your ignorant drivel. I'd rather be preach than downright rude.

I was a social worker 😂

You're on Mumsnet, maybe you should stop thinking you're the only one who has experience with children, then calm the fuck down!

I think you're not giving kids enough credit for knowing the difference between fantasy and reality OP. Of course they know they aren't going to be squeezing anyone til they die, just like they know they can't copy all the violence from Tomband Jerry. The peppa pig videos are 13+ so won't be available on kids YouTube. No need to the hysteria!

Oh and I do work with dc. Last year they were walking about looking in drains and saying there is pennywise. They hadn't actually watched it age 4/5 but heard about it from older dc and it's exciting for them

DS(9) who already has behavioural issues is obsessed. I've tried limiting and supervising his internet access, sadly the same cannot be said for his father. DS asked for huggy wuggy and cuddly wuddly plushes, I refused as I didn't think them appropriate - his dad gave in and got them for him. It's not always as straight forward as some of you think
