12 month old blue lips

My 12mo has blue lips today. He had his 1 year jabs yesterday. He seems otherwise well, although his chest does feel warm but he doesn’t have a temp when I do both of his ears. He is eating and drinking normally but seems a little sad and cuddly. He had bronchiolitis at 3mo which required ventilation but he’s made a full recovery. Should I be worried?

I would definitely get that checked out.
Ring 111
They will want to check his heart and lungs if he has blue lips.

NursieBernard · 18/06/2022 17:10

Please phone 111.

HSKAT · 18/06/2022 17:11

Yep. I’d go to a&e or urgent care now

TheAverageUser · 18/06/2022 17:12

Definitely seek medical attention.

PinkButtercups · 18/06/2022 17:14

You need to go to A&E. Don't even wait for 111. Go get him checked. Could be nothing but best to get him checked out.

Ohtheaudacity · 18/06/2022 17:53

Thank you everyone. I have called 111 and they’ve sent an ambulance.

MrJi · 18/06/2022 20:27

Hope all ok OP.

Ohtheaudacity · 18/06/2022 20:49

They blue lighted him to A&E. His heart rate was 225 and not coming down. Temp 39.8 even though on my crap thermometer it was showing as normal. Looks like we’re being admitted as his sats are low. Will try to update when I can. Thanks again all, I probably would have left it but very glad I didn’t

Oh OP, I'm so glad you rang them.
Thinking of you both Flowers

So glad you got him to the right place.

MrJi · 18/06/2022 21:32

Thank goodness you are in the hospital now. I hope he is better soon.

PartyPlan · 18/06/2022 21:36

Gosh, thank goodness you checked. Blue lips are cyanosis which can be a lack of oxygen.

WhatTheHeckShrek · 18/06/2022 21:40

So glad you are in the hospital..speedy recovery to your little one!!

justasking111 · 18/06/2022 21:46

Glad you're being seen urgently. Good luck little one

Lindy2 · 18/06/2022 21:49

Gosh. I hope he recovers quickly. At least he is in the best place now for the doctors to find out what treatment he needs.

mrsfoof · 18/06/2022 22:53

Glad to hear you're in the right place OP and hope LO is on the mend soon.

A top tip that a Dr gave to me when my DC were small that's helpful for checking their temps: if you kiss them on their forehead with your lips and they feel hot, then they have a fever. If they feel the same temp or cooler than your lips they're fine. Useful if you have no thermometer or if it's a bit dodgy. Obviously it doesn't tell you the exact temp but as the skin on your lips is quite thin and sensitive, the hotter they feel, the higher the fever. Even now my DC are older (10+), I still kiss their foreheads if they feel unwell to check if I need to get the thermometer out!

PinkButtercups · 19/06/2022 07:12

Glad you're in the right place and hoping for a speedy recovery for your LO.

ofwarren · 19/06/2022 14:59

How is your baby today OP?

stressedsloth · 19/06/2022 15:16

Don't phone 111 in this situation. Guaranteed they will tell you to go to A&E so just go straight there.
