I suspect my son has ADHD. If your child has it, what were they like as a five year old?

Oh and tidying my room/not leaving toys all over. I was constantly smacked for it at home as my parents thought it was intentional. I just CAN’T organise :(

My 12 year old is being assessed at the moment because since starting secondary school his issues with focus etc have become significant. At 5 he was:
fearless, both physically and socially
very active
picky eater
very emotional, found it hard to regulate his emotions, very angry
very involved in anything that was going on
needed lots of attention
extremely loving

In relation to obtaining a private diagnosis ring a few different clinics as they're likely to have different processes. I’m under the impression a child cannot be diagnosed until there 7?

I have ADHD, my 2.5 year old clearly does too. Shes very academic and cries when we go past the local school as she’s desperate to start. She’s an angel at the Childminder’s and let’s everything out at home. She’s showing all the signs of being an anxious perfectionist.

Shes a whirlwind. Shes attracted to danger - I often have to go an rescue her when she’s got stuck in precarious position on a windowsill or cupboard. She is also very sensitive to perceive and real rejection.

Medication has made a huge difference to my life. My emotions have stabilised and my mind is no longer racing. I will be medicating my daughter in a few years time as I believe it will greatly improve her quality of life.

Swimming has been very helpful for our DC and also music (especially singing). Also melatonin for sleep. It's a faff to get but it was the only thing that helped.
