11 weeks - he kept bashing the sides with his arms and waking himself up

karen999 · 07/01/2008 15:24

12 weeks - moved her to her own cot at that age.

dooley1 · 07/01/2008 15:24

didn't use one at all with ds
dd was in one for about 4 weeks I think

your dd must be very wee

6.5months? Aren't they supposed to be out of them by the time they can sit up?

NomDePlume · 07/01/2008 15:38

i bought one and dd HATED it with a passion, screamed blue murder whenever she was put in it

We co-slept with her until she was 6 weeks old and then she went into her own cot in her own room in preparation for a wedding (overnight stay) DH and I were going to when she was 10wks old.

NomDePlume · 07/01/2008 15:39

I have to say that my DD was such a shocking wriggler that I think she'd have tipped the moses basket over several times a night if she'd have still been in it at 4+ mo

VictorianSqualor · 07/01/2008 15:43

Have just looked into it and apparently most moses baskets arent suitable after they hit 9kg which is about 19lbs.

robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 16:11

shes almost 17lb at the moment shes quite small, and can't sit up....yet

VictorianSqualor · 07/01/2008 16:16

I'd personally move her our asap, she may not be able to sit up unaided but could pull herslef up, and though it will probably be ok, I doubt you'd forgive yourself if there was an accident.
If you look here it says only upto 3 months.

Jackstini · 07/01/2008 16:18

dd was 5 months. 4.5 months in our room then a few nights with the basket in her cot to get used to it before we transferred her completely.
She was tiny though (approx 9th centile iirc)

Flibbertyjibbet · 07/01/2008 16:19

DS1 very long baby, 5m till his head touched one end and his feet the other! he didn't roll over or pull himself up to sit by then though.

DS2 even bigger baby, cot at 3m cos we couldn't squash him in a moses basket anymore!

mosschops30 · 07/01/2008 16:20

6.5 months with a baby in your room?? What a nightmare.
ds and dd were both moved out at about 12 weeks so that they slept better and so did we

Buda · 07/01/2008 16:21

Till the day after the night I looked at DS and thought it was cute that he was sleeping with his legs like a frogs. Then I realised it was because he could stretch them out! Got the cot out next day. He would have been about 10 weeks.

robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 16:25

shes not a nightmare, shes a fantastic sleeper, slept through everynight since 6 weeks old for a good 12-14 hours

I'm not entirely certain but I think our last dd was in hers until almost 12m. We would swaddle her and tuck her in and she loved it. Her moses basket was inside her cot so no danger of tipping. She just liked the snug feeling. She has only recently moved out of our room (and her cot)at 4yo. Although we do have her pop back in on the odd night.

robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 16:49

yes i may be better to move the mb to the floor, dd cant tip out then

i am planing on moving heer to her cotbed soon

OP posts:
robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 16:52

im getting her used to going in the cotbed in the day
and i will also put her in the mb in the cotbed on the first few nights

robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 16:53

HappyMummyOfOne · 07/01/2008 17:08

Used mine for around 3 months then DS looked too cramped in it. Also worried if he tried to roll or wriggled too much it would tip as it only rested on the stand and didnt attach in any way.

Minkus · 07/01/2008 17:08

My ds was 6 months too when we moved him out of his moses basket next to my side of the bed and into his own room and cot. He was like Flippertyjibbets son in the respect of his head was touching one end and his toes the other! He was't sitting or pulling himself up at that stage either so there wasn't much danger of him toppling it over. Having said that, I'd never thought of putting it on the floor instead of the stand and I think that's what I'll do next time, just to be on the safe side.

juuule · 07/01/2008 17:53

Maybe leaned a bit towards the petite side even though she was 8lb 11oz at birth and never looked particularly small compared with others of the same age. She just liked to be wrapped up and snug in the moses basket.

fishie · 07/01/2008 17:56

about half an hour. i did find it v useful for keeping nipple cream, books, mags etc beside the bed though.

robinredbreast · 07/01/2008 20:42

lol at half an hour

I didnt realise there was an age limit - I'll go and tell my 26 year old to get out! Seriously tho I think when they begin to get more active and are trying to move about.
