Your HV is very much outdated. Advice is unless there is any known family allergy then to introduce foods likely to cause a reaction as normal.

I suggest you forward this to you HV so they can update themselves and not cause unnecessary anxiety to other parents.

I can't believe the HV is giving such outdated advice! My eldest is 20, and whilst the advice was to start weaning at 4 months, we were still told to introduce potential allergens early on. Mind you, most of the advice I was given by HVs was wrong then too - I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that that hasn't changed!

Are you sure your HV didn't give you the correct advice regarding not giving babies whole nuts until later on and you just interpreted it the wrong way....?

The nhs says to introduce early.

So I gave Ds peanut butter at 6 months. He then had allergic reaction and I was told off by hospital for giving him food ‘unsuitable for babies’. Ffs
