What time do your children go to bed?

My little one is 4 and she's in bed at 7pm most nights.

1 and 4 year old- both in bed between 7-7.30pm

NationMcKinley · 26/01/2022 20:25

9 year old - 7.30 except for Cubs night then it’s 8.30pm.

12 year old - 7.30 / 8pm (he is up at 6.15 every week day and needs a LOT of sleep) except for when he’s at Scouts and then it’s 9.30pm.

14 year old - She goes to bed at 8.30 4x a week and 10pm 3x a week due to activities.

My lot seem to be in the minority with such early bed times compared to my friend’s children. They really seem to need it though and we ALL suffer if they’re tired! Grin

4 yr old - 7pm wakes at 6am.

14m old - 6pm wakes at 6am also.

Our littlest is more than ready for bedtime & would be very upset if kept up later.

2 yo and 7 yo both normally in bed by 7.30. 7 yo normally Fast asleep before 2 yo 😆

TheFormidableMrsC · 26/01/2022 21:06

10 yo, in bed with lights out by 9 pm. Having said all of that, he's currently having a very protracted sit on the toilet 🙄

Devo1818 · 26/01/2022 21:07

3yo about 6, 5yo about 7

MotherofPearl · 26/01/2022 21:17

5 year old: 7:30pm
10 year old: 9pm
13 year old: 10/10:30pm (far too late imo but I have given up fighting that battle provided all devices are downstairs and on chargers by 10ish)

Phos · 26/01/2022 22:00

My 4 year old is usually asleep by 8:15. She has always had quite low sleep needs.

Some of these bedtimes are sooo early! I wonder if the kids are up at 6am and that's why they tiered so early. My 2yr old is between 7.30 and 8pm. On my work days we just couldn't get her to bed earlier than 7.30. Most working parents I know have the bedtime around same time. If u don't finish work until 5ish then have a commute etc ur not usually home before 6pm and then still have dinner to make etc. We bath our kids every night too. 2yr old sleeps until 8-9am.

4yr old is about 8.30-9pm most often 9pm. It used to be 8pm but she would take forever to go to sleep so was pretty pointless. It will def be more 8pm when she starts school. On the days I work she's a nightmare to get up but sleeps until 9am on my days off which is 4days out of 7. I don't have to get her up at 8am on work days so she's not used to getting up early.

In bed by 7pm, up by 7.30am

Shmithecat2 · 27/01/2022 07:56

6yo - between 9 and 10pm. Any earlier, and he's up at 5am. I can't deal with that.

Timeturnerplease · 27/01/2022 08:47

6-6.30pm for both 6mo and 3yo; we get up very early to drop off at grandparents for 7.15am and get to work. Even on maternity leave they wake at 6am when DH has a shower so we continue with early bedtime to keep things consistent.

johnd2 · 27/01/2022 09:28

2.25 year old, in bed by 10am, gets up about 8.30.
We quite enjoy the evening with him, also we value our lie inns more than a quiet evening!

AM79 · 27/01/2022 10:09

For us it was always 7pm until the 10th birthday. Now my 10yo is going to bed at 8pm and my 12yo at 9pm. They are still allowed to read.

Chely · 27/01/2022 10:21

When I put them to bed and when they actually go to sleep are two very different things.
Teen, goes up when I do because I put the alarm on and can be up at stupid o'clock. 5mth old put in cot not long before I go up. Other 4 (11, 9 & 6) I want them in bed by 8 but they can still be awake a couple of hours later. Not great getting them up on school days, youngest will sleep in late if we don't have to be out too.

bloodywhitecat · 27/01/2022 10:31

8 month old 6pm, 21 month old 6.45pm. Both sleep until 7/7.30am.

I'll be honest and say my DD aged 4 goes up at 9pm, occasionally later on a weekend. She sleeps until 8ish. This is fine currently but I'd like to shift it half an hour earlier for school
in September.

Last night she fell asleep at 10pm and she was up at 7:45 this morning bright eyed and bushy tailed and that isn't unusual. She really doesn't seem to need as much sleep as others.
I often only get in from work after 6:30 and the routine suits us. 7pm seems really early to me.

DS was like this (although we did 8:30-6:30/8-6) and TBH I was too madly my parents continued to insist on putting me to bed at 7pm despite my 5am wake time. Some clever kids just don't need much sleep.

Hugasauras · 28/01/2022 06:02

Really depends on how organised we are, what we've done that day, etc. Nursery days DD (almost 3) is asleep by 7. Evenings where I work and DH does bedtime, more like 8. If we are visiting my parents can be 9. We aren't really wedded to routine. She's usually asleep between 7-8 though.
