Aptamil- ready made bottles- are they too cold??

Hey mums, we spent 5 nights in hospital with my 5 weeks old (we are home now thankfully and all is fine). While there he was drinking the aptamil ready made little milks, all babies did so. We are now home and I’ve decided to give these these ready made bottles at night - which is a life saver for me as I don’t have to downstairs every 3 hour to make a bottle. But one question - is this milk not too cold for babies to drink?? It’s room temperature and I always thought warm milk is so much better, however my son seems to love it. Is it not too cold for their throat? Warming it up is not an option as I’d have to go downstairs so I Amy as well make up a normal warmer bottle…. How do you give these to your babies?

@NommyChompers certainly it’s a concern but the main reason for me is expense. It’s about £1 a go, maybe £6 a day? A tin of formula lasts weeks for about £11.
@WheelieBinPrincess I assume because it isn’t usual for someone to only eat stone cold food, must be quite limiting diet
Not really. My kids prefer everything room temperature - they just wait until whatever we are having is cold - bolognese, curry, sausages, pizza, fish pie. Nothing limiting about it.

Both were breastfed, so clearly nothing to do with having 'cold' bottles.

OP if the little one is happily taking them as they are then don't worry!

Personally I prefer most food room temperature, I think you can taste the flavours more. Except tea and coffee, it needs to be scalding. If anyone finds that’s very sad, they need not. I’m perfectly happy!

The thought that a child prefers to eat their food cold is ‘sad’, is actually quite hilarious.

Stone cold is not room temperature

Mine used to have pumped BM straight out of the fridge from a week old and still give him cows milk straight from fridge.
He also isn’t super keen on hot food - and I’d never put two and two together and realised It was obviously my fault 😬🙄😬

Is there an actual reason that cold milk is bad for them?
Genuinely interested to know!

Thanks everyone, no I never thought cold milk is “bad” for them, I just thought maybe it’s not as pleasant as warm milk:) and for some reason I always thought that if a child drinks things that are too cold they will get a sore throat and might be sick. My baby seems perfectly happy with the room temp bottles so I’ll stick with that for the next few weeks, but you’re all right it does add up as is quite expensive!

@RachelHasThoseInBurgundy What a weird thing to be judgemental about. Who the fuck cares

OP, a bit cold or room temp is fine. If the baby drinks it, it doesn’t matter. I’m fact I think colder is better because heating bottles is a pain in the arse

If he’s happy with them cold stick with cold, it makes life much easier!

My dd was born in a heatwave she loved milk out the fridge she would actively reject warm milk

She eats hot food just fine now

Those ready made bottles are a great time saver and at room temperature they are fine. I thought my friends that had premade formula bottles that had to be flash chilled and then warmed up had more faffing and potential for issues.
Also some people choose to make different spending decisions - I was happy with second hand clothes - but the time and ease of those ready made milks more than outweighed their price per ml...
