bealcain - i got my GAG trolley from ebay, you can also get it from here. It was slightly cheaper on ebay and came very quickly. I also read on a thread that the London Luggage Co. had them in there shop but that's only if you live in london. I got the sea and flowers version and it is very nice. I've actually not used it yet as the weather has been sooo crap so not been able to get out shopping on foot.

thanks bruhaha, at least now i have a few things on my christmas list - a GAG trolley and a kindercoat!

Noviceknitter - i'm addicted to, i was banned from buying anymore by DF as he couldn't see why i needed more than 3, i've just secretly bought an ellaroo MT but he found the invoice it was a xmas present honest, no really it was!

can a Mei Tai be used from birth? I personally have not yet found a sling that will go easy from a newborn baby to toddlerhood.

Most people who use sling have more then one anyway!

bealcain how about a mamma's milk pouch sling Gorgeous prints too.

I didn't use it from newborn but assume you could, because its adjustible, could do toddler and baby. It's not great on your shoulders though after a while though.

For long distances I'd go with a kari me because it is just so much kinder on your back. It also would do toddler or baby but its a bit of a faff to get on and off. Also the kari me is just so lovely and snug with a newborn, and graet for going out walking with a toddler, I used to love mine!

bealcain · 13/12/2007 15:08

wulfric, are you tying it on and then putting him in it, or tying around him?

Wulfric lol, i can jsut picture it now! are you laying him down in cradle hold or upright in hug hold?

it's all just about practising, once you get the hang of it it's second nature to you.

Loopy - sorry if too personal but what size are your boobs? i found that i could hoick (if thats a word) my boob up to babes mouth and feed him upright, instead of changing position to get him into cradle. NOTE it's easier to do this if you're already used to feeding him upright. you can do this from birth

Silly question here!

It's freezing weather, is it ok to put DD (9 mo) in my Ergo in a snowsuit? I think her legs would be too cold in just tights! But am worried about overheating...

bealcain · 15/12/2007 10:30

geekymummy - absolutely fine as long as she still fits in it well, and you're able to loosen it off abit if you're going say in and out of shops. they do sling blankets and suits, but i cant remember wghere. i;ll search on net and get back to you.

Loopsy - i found feeding easier in upright position as i'm a 30JJ and can hoick it reallt far up, but if you're unable to move it all the way up you can jsut bounce baby down, after you've loosened it. as for wanting to look around, that's fantastic what a clever one you've got!i dont mean to sound patronising but have you mastered slinging without trying to breastfeed in it? the easiest way for me to learn to bf in cradle hold was to do it sitting down with the sling wrapped but not around the baby to get LO used to the material being near, then everytime i fed to put a bit more matierial around him. until it wa eventually all around him, and then it moved to sitting up properly, sitting on a higher chair, standing but leanig against something and then walking. it literally takes 2 days, day one for the feeding and material, day 2 for the moving around.

Wulfric - the tighter the sling the better. you need to place him on your shoulder and drop one leg into the side of the cross that is the bottom one (does that make sense) and then his second leg into the outer one, make sure his arms go under the material too, then when pullin it across his body start at his bum with the under piece and move it all the way up his torso and then do the same with outer, making sure they overlap.

sorry if that doesn't make sense!

my mistake sorry. ok so trying to put him in facing forwards, his legs have to be in a buddha like position. they do have to have good head control for this position. you basically create a pouch with the material, like you do for the cradle hold and place him in it and then tighten, making sure he's sitting on his feet.

ok it;s looks like this is a cross between the 2. for safety i would start by having him facing you and doing it. you have to scrunch their feet up like frogs ligs, so the knees are up at the belly, then lower him in same way. let me see if i can put a pic of me and ds2 like it on...hang on as i'm crap at links.
