Just that really - a few examples as guidance would be great. Thanks in advance.

about 6ish

NeverMetANiceOne · 11/08/2021 19:00

5 and 3

Around 2-3, though ds4 has been using regular spoons since about 1.

We got some nice stainless steel cutlery in kids sizes, I think in Poundland, and the little metal forks were very handy until they could hold the bigger heavier ones.

4/5

About 5 for knives and forks. Could have moved earlier in hindsight but we had a nice metal set in children’s sizes and we just used them out of habit.

My almost 8yr old old still uses starter size cutlery. He can use big stuff in restaurants but is better with smaller.

kowari · 11/08/2021 19:08

My 5ft 7 15 year old still eats icecream with a coffee spoon Grin.

He had a plastic baby spoon, and a small fork when he was a toddler, then just used regular cutlery from about 3. We use the smaller regular cutlery, not the huge cutlery you can buy.

Just read previous post, think it's the starter sized cutlery that we've always used.

gogohm · 11/08/2021 19:16

Never had mini cutlery, used a teaspoon when they were babies

My 4 year old has recently started using regular cutlery. Mainly because she kept binning the plastic stuff Angry

Kitkat151 · 11/08/2021 19:40

2 years spoons and forks....knives about 4 years

My 9 year old has only just moved up to adult cutlery - possibly a bit late! The kids stuff we have is the IKEA set which is more starter size (I actually use spoons for yoghurt as they are a really good size between a teaspoon and a desert spoon).

2 for spoon and fork. Uses a kids size knife and his skills are a bit hit and miss but he's only 3.5 so plenty of time to learn.

My 5ft11 15 year old still uses his IKEA kids cutlery (it is at least metal). He's been perfectly capable of using full size for years but he says he just prefers it.

Oh gosh. As soon as she could.... Between 1 and 2! She hated the little cutlery as she couldn't get the food in her mouth quick enough with it 😂😂😂 nursery have always said she's an enthusiastic eater!

Redwinestillfine · 11/08/2021 20:28

We have metal kids size for 7 and 10 yo......

mnahmnah · 11/08/2021 20:31

Quite soon after turning 3, using a full size fork. I would cut food up before giving it to them. Using a knife age 4
