Just out of interest, what time does your 2 yo go to sleep? Our LG goes to nursery 5 days a wk, falls asleep between 8.30/9pm, on wknds is in bed by 8/8.15.

Usually asleep about 8pm.

Vodkabulary · 20/07/2021 20:38

Between 6:30-7:30 depending on dinner and if it’s bath night.

Nightmanagerfan · 20/07/2021 20:38

Asleep by 7:30pm most nights. Nursery four days a week. Hour nap at lunch

Varies, we start his bedtime routine around 7ish, and he's usually in his cot asleep by 7.45ish during the week, weekends we have a family movie on Saturday nights amd he's usually in bed for half 9/10ish.

However right now he's laying in his cot singing elephants have wrinkles 🤦‍♀️

Mansplainee · 20/07/2021 20:40

My just turned 2 year old goes to bed between 7:00 - 7:30pm now, but can easily stay awake much later than that if there are things going on.
She was going to bed closer to 8pm for a while but I’ve been trying to gradually bring it earlier so I can actually have a bit of an evening.

bookh · 20/07/2021 20:40

Bed 7.30, asleep by 8. Left with a book and a torch. Wakes 7.

Nap 1.30 to 3. Dropped it over Christmas but asking for it at moment.

PippinStar · 20/07/2021 20:42

Around 8.30pm, sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later.

foobio · 20/07/2021 20:42

Goes to bed 1945, goes to sleep anytime til 2100. No nap, wakes 0630-0700. She is 2y 9m.

MadameOvary81 · 20/07/2021 20:44

Between 6pm and 7pm. He hasn't napped since he was 18 months, and he fights sleep, but by 6 he is usually getting belligerent and unreasonable. That's my cue to ship him off to dreamland. Grin

TheBestSpoon · 20/07/2021 20:44

If he's had a nap (usually 1hr), he's in bed by 8:30 and usually asleep by 9. If not, he's in bed by 8 latest and usually asleep very quickly! Generally up between 7 and 7:30 in the morning if left to his own devices.

Smarshian · 20/07/2021 20:45

Usually 7.30 weekdays. Often later at weekends for my 3 & 4 yr old

onetwothreeadventure · 20/07/2021 20:46

Between 7 and 8 depending if it's bath night/what time I finish work/how tired they are. Up at 7am and naps maybe once a week on a non nursery day.

Ihaveoflate · 20/07/2021 20:46

We limit the nap to 30 mins so she'll be asleep by 7:30 because I like my evenings. If she doesn't nap at all, she's asleep at 7. She wakes up around 6:30am no matter what time she falls asleep.

Same bedtime every day (nursery 3 days a week).

KaDeWeh · 20/07/2021 20:47

When mine were that age, they were asleep by 7 - 7.30 (up at about 7). They didn't nap at that age, though. I used to start the 'winding down' ritual with an early dinner for them at 5ish, then tidying up toys, bath, stories, bed. But they didn't go to nursery, which made it easier to get them to bed and sleep earlier.

itscomplicatedlife · 20/07/2021 20:51

Omg it is just ours that goes to bed in my view quite late, we don't wake her until 7am but she's napping 12.30-2 so is managing to maintain full energy until 8.30-9, 9pm most nights but is then only sleeping 9-7 (10 hrs) I've asked nursery a few times to only let her nap between 30-60mins max & ideally not as late as 2 as she is having such a late bed time. Most people with 2 yos seems to be in bed by 7.30-8 latest. I just aren't sure if it is normal going to bed at almost 9 in the wk

At wknds we are all up around 7 she usually happily naps around 30-40 mins but firm about midday after early lunch and wakes up in a fine mood and in bed around 8pm, we both work f/t I'm just so tired as it's a very long evening

OP posts:
itscomplicatedlife · 20/07/2021 20:59

We have tried around 8.15-8.30 placing her in her cot awake to try to self settle but she will not have it and will scream the house down, she ends up downstairs until she falls asleep, I don't know if she's having us on and we're being too soft or whether I just have a very stubborn toddler or both 🙈

OP, you must be absolutely exhausted. One reason I made sure the DC were in bed early was that I was shattered by then after doing stuff with them all day (and I did completely dedicate the daytime to doing things with them, mostly things that meant they used up a lot of energy Grin), and wanted a quiet evening of dinner and TV and pottering. It's another reason I used to incorporate toy-tidying into their bedtime ritual - just so I could have an evening without treading on Duplo and whatnot. I don't know how I would have managed working f/t and then dealing with small children.
Mansplainee · 20/07/2021 21:00

Have you tried putting her down sooner? My DD was staying up as late as yours up until a few months ago and I also thought that she wouldn’t go down any earlier. But I managed to gradually just keep bringing it forward by 15 mins every week or so and she goes to bed really well at 7-7:30pm now. She does wake up slightly earlier and has shorter naps now though so it’s swings and roundabouts really.

usernotfound0000 · 20/07/2021 21:00

7pm here. No naps anymore, she usually wakes between 6.30 and 7am. On nursery days she can be ready for bed by 6.30pm! She couldn't last that late without a nap.

Ihaveoflate · 20/07/2021 21:00

I suppose it's a bit of a compromise - long midday nap or early bedtime. We chose the early bedtime but we don't get the nice break at lunchtime anymore!

If the later bedtime works for you, then I can't see the problem. All families are different.

Heyha · 20/07/2021 21:04

If she's had a nap (she has an hour nursery, or in the car) it's about 8.30 by the time she's asleep. Of she hasn't had a nap then it'll be 7 to 7.30 depending on when she got up. She'd sleep til 7.30am no problem if she wasn't getting up for nursery but tbh I'd rather lose half an hour in the morning and have her in bed a little earlier. I can't wait til she stops having a nursery nap...

itscomplicatedlife · 20/07/2021 21:06

@KaDeWeh I am I'm abs drained I feel just so tired! I spoke to my boss about going part time today as it's just become too much. At the wknds we have to also jam pack things in so she is using her enegry but still goes to bed even with a short nap around 8. I asked nursery politely 3 times to not let her nap so long and so late I think they think I'm being mean but I explained what's now happening is she's going to bed at 9 up at 7 abs making up for the lost sleep in this long nap. At wknd we have no issue it works for us all as she is up same time but naps less but makes up for the sleep at night having an earlier bed time. Just seems to be us, I think so far only 1 other person has a late bed timer. We can't even place her in the cot awake even 15 mins before she drifts off as she screams the house down which wakes her up and she ends up going even later, it's just doesn't seem normal to me

@Mansplainee we have tried taking her up awake but it has to be close to drifting off but she will have non of it, she kicks screams and generally rules the roost she's got an awful temper, from my mother I suspect abs isn't happy unless she is getting her own way, she's a lot to handle best of times but we have tried more than a few times but it's so stressful as she screams and the end up back down and won't go to bed until even later 😣
