Bathing a six month old

Ds is six months and is a bit too big for his baby bath but not big enough for the big bath! He also doesn’t really like his bath seat. Any suggestions?

Can you sit him/her up in the bath that’s too small and support back with your hand? Not ideal I know but that’s what I did with my now 8 month old who is too little for big bath but too small for baby bath. He can now sit up confidently enough to sit unsupported in baby bath but big bath is just too sloppy and scary at the moment!

The schnuggle baby bath is big and lasts for ages. My baby is 9 months and still in it. Officially it's for up to a year but you could most likely use it for longer.

I agree with you completely OP, my sister always used to tell me to lie baby flat in a couple of inches of water in the main bath and I just never felt comfortable doing it. Our DD was in the Angelcare until she was 10 months old and even then was quite happy in it, we just decided to give her a go sitting up on a mat. It’s a dream for washing hair and stuff because you can use both hands without worrying.

We used one of those. They're bigger than a baby bath but not too big. Also cheap and can be used for other things once outgrown (though my three year old nephew still fits in it!)

At six months we got a munchkin inflatable duck bath. My DS absolutely loves it and is still in it at 8 months. He can't get stuck in any part or hurt himself on it and happily plays with his toys in there. Really turned bathtime around for us!

We have used a bath sponge support in our main bath since DD was born, it's soft so they can lay down in the bath when they're too small to sit and it's quite big so it was handy when she was learning to sit and still a bit wobbly. She doesn't really need it now (15 months old) but we still put it in the bath with her as she likes putting her toys on her "island" Grin.
