Franca - all being well, a couple of weeks!

sparklygothkat · 21/11/2007 17:43

I have 4, had 3 close together (4 and under) then said no more, until I fell pregnant after the Morning after pill failed and then miscarriaged, so we tried for our 4th and he was born in sept I want one more now, but DH says no

sparklygothkat · 21/11/2007 17:44

3 now - with just the two I didn't feel I was done birthing - now I feel like I'm done!!

S1ur · 21/11/2007 17:54

mmm just think I might attack companies that produce crap disposable products that waste resources and energy in their production and disposal and governments that aren't willing to fund energy and resource effcient practices such as insulating homes, better recycling, free public transport and so on... before I attack large families who may or may not be living in a green way.

UniversallyChallenged · 21/11/2007 17:55

I have 5, and dh keeps saying about the spare seat we have in the car ......

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/11/2007 17:56

That was an answer to northernrefugee btw, sorry if this is a digression from op, just felt needed to try to give an answer to anti-large families on basis of selfishness. Hey I don't want ten kids because that would be really hard work, but I don't think people who choose to have more than 3 kids are being selfish to the planet!

kerala · 21/11/2007 17:58

How is it unselfish to have 6 children?

ScoobyDoo · 21/11/2007 18:00

pregnantbabyelephant - You may change your mind after you have more than 1 having 1 is easy wait till you have more then say your gonna have 6

ScoobyDoo · 21/11/2007 18:01

ScoobyDoo · 21/11/2007 18:06

Oh you still have many years left, i suppose it depends on what age you want to stop having them or even if you ever want to stop

blimey your brave, would you like my 2? they need a new home

kerala · 21/11/2007 18:09

Although I dont understand your argument slur. Just because a load of bad things happen that damage the planet how does that mean its ok to do other stuff that also damages the planet?

peanutbear · 21/11/2007 18:10

I have 3 and I think its enough for me! It wouldnt be the end of the world if I got pregnant again but I am really enjoying myself and my children with out being pregnant and feeling sick

If however pregnancy was easier for me I would have more

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/11/2007 18:11

Mine are 5 & 22 months Boy/Girl honestly you can have them, they are free you know

inthegutter · 21/11/2007 18:16

Wanted 3, got 3. For some reason always knew we wanted 3, for the following reasons:

  • 3 kids outnumbers the parents which makes for a different dynamic in the family.

-3 is a good number for transporting around (no need for gas guzzlers or people carrier).

-Enough children for them to play together in various combinations

-Not too many to be unable to give them lots of attention

Also very glad that we had our 3 close together - they're excellent company for eachother. I could NOT cope with a big gap and juggling different stages of babies and teenagers. It felt like we were able to throw ourselves into the baby stage, then the toddler stage wholeheartedly and enjoy every minute and then happily move onto the next phase.

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/11/2007 18:19

ah thats lovely scoobs a boy and a girl
do they get on well?

yes ill take em

OP posts:
Pickie · 21/11/2007 18:21

would love 3 (always wanted three) but DH always said 2 (we have DS and DD) but hey you know accidents do happen! (any tips very welcome)

S1ur · 21/11/2007 19:46

kerala - ok, I'll try to be clearer, (I realise I do jabber away a lot!)
I think that there are other reasons for damage to the planet that are not only of more consequential impact but also of much higher priority to do something about (including criticise on mn!)
So, I don't think large families should be judged as selfish by default, since a) they in fact may be greener than a child-free professional couple jet-setting across the world for example
and b)IMO the state of the planet is not because of large families it is largely because of other things which I hinted at in my earlier post.

Just because bad stuff happens that is really bad does not make lesser bad stuff ok but it does alter who I choose to brand as selfish or indeed damaging to our planet. And besides as I said I don't think large families can be broadly accused as planet damagers.

kerala · 21/11/2007 20:00

Think we'll have to agree to differ slur but thanks for clarifying.

ScoobyDoo · 21/11/2007 20:01

Er get on well? they don't get on at all, in fact they fight like cat & dog.

still want them
