Wheelybug, do not hope for twins! It is a recipe for disaster, take it from me that multiples are hard and stressful work!

S1ur · 21/11/2007 15:15

symmetry

I'm one of seven spread over three marriges! I like large families and agree its good theres always someone to play with, not much personal space though!

northernrefugee39 · 21/11/2007 15:20

I think I'm going to put a real downer on this- well- I know I am- we have three- and If I could start over I wouldn't have more than two-..... why? 'cos the planet's falling apart, probably all these kids will drive cars, use oil, resorces etc..Is it just me, or is it a bit selfish to have loads of kids, however lovely it is- kind of reproducing yourself?

Are but you see, the world needs my kids!

(yeah not original I know...)

S1ur · 21/11/2007 15:33

point being northernrefugee don't you have faith that if you teach you're chn well, they'll grow up to make a difference to the planet in a good way as opposed to just trashing it?

northernrefugee39 · 21/11/2007 15:37

Well Slur- I do think that's an opinion people with lots of kids give... which kind of illustrates my feeling that there's a complacence (-is that how you spell it? ) about people with lots of little mini thems running along behind them...

bogie · 21/11/2007 15:41

i want about 10 dh say's the most i can have is 4 we have 1 at the min but ttc

S1ur · 21/11/2007 15:47

Not sure I understand. Why would parents of large families be thinking they can sit back on their laurels necessarily while their mini mes take over? I mean, presumeably since you clearly care about the state of the planet you yourself are active in trying to make a significant difference to the direction its heading in, so you will, I assume, be talking to your chn and involving them in your activism. Now I don't for one minute consider my chn to be clones of myself nor would I ever ever want them to be, they are unique and brilliant but I do hope that they might listen to my values and ideas and be influenced to think carefully about things before making their own decisions about how to live in the world.
I don't think small families is the answer to global warming or depletion of resources btw...

hunkermunker · 21/11/2007 15:49

northernrefugee39, I hope your third child never reads that post!

oliveoil · 21/11/2007 15:52

2 is more than enough imo

good god, the THOUGHT of having another one

I don't have enough patience tbh

juuule · 21/11/2007 16:05

Well I've got 9, never managed the 10
I always hoped for twins, too but averaged around 2 pregnancies to produce one baby
Turned out well in the end though.
Good luck with your babies pbe.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 21/11/2007 16:07

I wanted 8 which was revised to 5. DH said 4, but through health reasons we had to stop at 3.

scorpio1 · 21/11/2007 16:08

i'm pg with db3, our fourth between us (i have one dss). dp has been muttering that this maybe able to happen again because he likes my pg boobs .

S1ur · 21/11/2007 16:15

mners with large families (say more than 3) how did you spread them, did you have a couple of batches or an even (ish) spread or is because of having multiples?

I noticed Miaow has a couple of batches which I've heard is a good option if you've got the youth to manage it! But wondered if the older ones play much with the youngers?

ElenyaTuesday · 21/11/2007 17:09

I knew a girl at school who came from a family of 22!!!!!!

Columbia · 21/11/2007 17:13

Have two and wish I had four. I love babies but once they are older I'm a crap mum!

No partner either so I'd be lucky...and I hate being pregnant and giving birth. So that doesn't help!

ggglimpopo · 21/11/2007 17:21

I am pg with my 6th.

I always planned to have just two - two boys called Daniel and Thomas!

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2007 17:22

I have 2, would like a third, but just on a theoretical basis

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2007 17:22

hey ggg not long left, if I remember well?

Wheelybug · 21/11/2007 17:25

tripletsandtwins - I am joking really - I have had 3 lots of friends have twins 3 years running if that makes sense and I don't really want twins ... its looks like a lot of hardwork although I am in awe of twin (and triplet and both !) parents.

2 will be just fine (in fact, quite frankly at the mo 2 would be ruddy marvellous ).

millie76 · 21/11/2007 17:25

I would like a large brood too, maybe 6, but issues like a big enough house and car to transport them with are a bit of problem. That and having enough money.

But then I watch Cheaper by the Dozen and think, who cares about money, lets have 12!! I reckon its harder work than it looks though.

ScoobyDoo · 21/11/2007 17:26

Ha i have 2 always said i would only have 2 & after having dd (my last) i will have no more & if it ever happens by "mistake" you will find me on the edge of a cliff, ok?

wheresthehamster · 21/11/2007 17:26

Would have loved more than 3 but too old and knackered by the time of my third. Good luck I would have loved 6 for some reason 4 girls and 2 boys

kerala · 21/11/2007 17:29

Think Im with northernrefugee on this one. 10 children! Abit selfish surely? There are too many people on the planet as it is.

northernrefugee39 · 21/11/2007 17:32

Slur- I just think that considering the state of the planet, the ammount of natural resourses we're using- one of the first things we should do is not to have very large families.
Of course I wouldn't change my family for the world- or my youngest!- I just maybe wouldn't have gone on getting pregnant without thinking of the consequences, and yes- I do think it's quite selfish to have large families. Obviously - more people = more resources being used up.
And sometimes I think people think they're quite special and clever because they have loads of children- I'm not saying anyone here so don't jump down my post- but I've known a few people who have 4 or five and think they deserve special treatment and or admiration.
