When did your baby grow out of newborn?

My son is now almost 3 weeks old. He was born early and he weighed 5lb 1oz. He is still in newborn and I'm wondering when your babies grew out of that size. I know that all babies are different obviously!

About two weeks, but he was 8lb 15oz and loooong. So newborn was too short in the back and feet very quickly, but he looked hilarious in the 1-3 month stuff for a while until he evened out the weight/height!

My son is very barrel-chested and tall, so he was in 0-3 months from the off.

Mine was 4lbs 14oz and in tiny baby until around 6 weeks i think, then newborn for maybe 3-4 weeks and is now she is still wearing 0-3 sleepsuits but 3-6 vests at 4 months / 17.5 weeks old.

At about 14 weeks. Maybe a bit later. I got very good use out of all the baby clothes! (My youngest has just moved into 12-18 months. She's had her second birthday 🤣)

Never fitted into newborn, was too long so straight into 0-3

After about a week, he was born 10lb 3oz.

Never fitted into newborn, he was 56cm long at birth and newborn is 50-56cm.

She's 11 weeks now and I'm starting to retire the newborn stuff. She is tiny though

From memory dc1, who was 5lb 1oz a birth, came out of newborn at around 3 months. Dc2 (5lb 5oz) was about the same age. Dc3 (6lb 13oz) was around 6 weeks, as was dc4 (6lb 5oz) & dc5 was also around 3 months (also 5lb 5oz).

My poor second baby looks ridiculous. She was born with beautiful huge feet. So she is in a size up to accommodate her toes but they are huge elsewhere. She was only 6lb4 as well. She's now four months and in 6 to 9. I like my babies in baby grows but I'm considering trousers and socks as she looks so silly and now we can actually leave the house.

First baby maybe a couple of weeks, then zero to three. She has pretty much stayed in the right age and size stuff.

Mine were 7.5lbs and 8.lbs. Both started in 0-1month clothing (up to 10lbs). Both for around two months. DD1 was a long, skinny baby and went up clothes sizes long before weight limits (still does, she's 9 and in 11-12 clothing just for length.) DD2 was more normally proportioned, so the clothes weights were a better guide. But grew ver6 slowly.

I don't know if it's changed, but different shops had completely different clothes sizes for 'Newborn'... Anything from 7lbs to 10lbs. Which is a massive difference for babies!

She went straight into 0-3 as she was 10lb 1oz and about 5 ft long.

1 week - born 8lb 13oz and day 5 was 9lb 2oz

Another 2 weeks in up to 1 month then into 0-3 from 3 weeks

H&M do lovely footless babygrows, I got DS loads because he's another long footed being.

(And a week after the first photo of him in one was shared he got a delivery of fancy merino socks from a horrified great-aunt in Australia!)

Mine was 11lb 5, straight to 0-3 months and that wasn't for long!

@Amrythings wow!!!! you learn something every day. It appears next also do these, so I'm stocking up so she looks less drowned for summer walks in public. Just as well she's not been out yet. Mind blowing. (Yes I did consider cutting feet off ones I have but hadn't done it yet)

Ds was 5lb 5oz and was in newborn until he was 4 or 5 months. He's almost 2 and still in 9 to 12 month in some clothes, 12 to 18 in others. But dh and I are both small (I'm 5ft, he's 5ft 8) so he's not got much chance haha

All 3 of mine got at least 6 weeks wear our of newborn, maybe more. all 7-8ish lb at birth but lost a bit and we're all very very slow to regain. My niece was born at a similar weight but was over 10lb and out of newborn within a couple of weeks!

Mine was 5 oz 2 and wore 'small baby' size for a few weeks, then newborn and probably made it to the 0-3 size when she was about 4/5 months. One particular outfit was 0 - 3 from Matalan but came up big so I don't think she even started wearing that one until she was gone 6 months

5 pound 2.... not 5 oz 2. Ooops

May I also recommend the Bond Wondersuit for the long of foot. Lovely designs,no feet, wonderful easy zip, and look less like pyjama to my eyes at least!

About 2-3 weeks 😂 he was 8lb11oz and very long. He's now 9 months old and 24lb8oz and 31 inches in 12-18 so he's always been huge!

My ds was 6lb 4oz & had to grow in to newborn, they were massive on him, he grew out of them around 6-8 weeks.

6-8 weeks, born at term but 6lb, grew slowly- both the same

About 2 weeks maybe less. He's 17 weeks now and in 6-9 month clothes!
