@jorhat.

Sometime the balance of fore milk and hind milk is out. So fore milk is more like a drink, and hind milk more like food. This can be addressed by making sure the baby fully empties one breast before moving onto the other, as the fatty milk (that makes them full) comes at the end of the feed. I will post a link that explains.
@Thatwentbadly how long do you think he will sleep after clusterfeeding.. mine is sleeping 2 hours max
Sounds good for that age. Honestly at that age your daily aim should be to shower, brush your teeth teeth twice, eat drink and if you can get yourself outside for a walk but that bits not essential. Other than that sit down on the sofa and feed or lay down in bed and feed or sleep yourself. That’s it. Unless you have older children and then you have to do other stuff.

Thatwentbadly · 03/03/2021 17:04
@Thatwentbadly Im from pakistan, there are no helplines here... theyll probably give me top feed if i ask them...
my baby was 8 pounds when he was born.. got jaundice in early age and lost till 3.6 then last time i check 18days old he gained 3.8.. my baby has wet diapers and passes stool twice a day but he is always hungry and now the sleep is also getting less porbablu for one hour after long cluster feeding
You can plot his weight on who health charts. They are available online.

Am i wrong on this that long long feeding is emptying my boob and the hungry baby remains hungry ?
Your boob will never be truly empty and the more baby feeds today the more milk you will produce tomorrow.

This info might help, although it’s in kg rather then lbs

The high calorie milk is towards the end of a feed so you just need to make sure your baby feeds for a while on pne side and let them decide when to come off don't take them off the boob unless for adjusting positioning- the start of the feed is the thirst quenching milk (like a drink of squash) and the more thick milk comes towards the end so as long as your baby is getting plenty of time and your not taking him off before he's finished or swapping sides quickly he should be fine. The fluttery slow sucking when it seems like they're asleep and it doesn't feel like they're still actively feeding is when they're on the high fat filling part of the feed.

He’s travelling along the 50th percentile according to this chart. This is the perfect weight. He’s gaining weight at the correct rate and producing dirty nappies so it sounds like everything is going really well. The suckling is normal. He will get faster and more efficient when feeding as your supply will increase steadily to meet his needs

BunnyRuddington · 03/03/2021 18:51

Firstly, congratulations on your new LO Thanks

What you are experiencing sounds exhausting but completely normal. Have a read of this on Kellymom.

Everything does sound very normal and will get better but if you want some reassurance from a BFC, try La Leche League In Pakistan.

BunnyRuddington · 03/03/2021 18:56

This video might help you a little too Thanks

bananamonkey · 03/03/2021 18:57

Congratulations, you are doing an amazing job. Your milk is like a river not a lake, as mentioned your baby is working hard to establish a supply, you haven’t dried up and your baby will be getting enough. Take care of yourself, it’s super tough but gets easier x

This is brilliant. A baby that's gaining weight and tracking a centile definitely doesn't need topping up, he's getting everything he needs from you.

You're doing really well OP Thanks

Zarinea · 04/03/2021 08:40

Salaam OP - how's it going today? X

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 04/03/2021 09:58

Don’t panic about milk balance yet. Your baby is small and your milk supply is getting established. I probably had a bit too much foremilk and baby was very windy, green poops etc. Cluster feeding was exhausting.

BUT I was told not change anything or do anything other than trust baby’s lead until 4-6 weeks. By 6 weeks, my milk supply had settled right down and the milk balance had worked itself out. Honestly, I’d just keep feeding and wait until 6 weeks before worrying about your milk. These first 4-6 weeks are a bit mad and not really reflective of how things will be after that.

jorhat · 04/03/2021 12:24

@Zarinea thankyou for asking but im feeling alot better by your answers . I havecdecided to go along with cluster feeding for 4-6 weeks . first i was very much depressed but all your answers have literally made me feel better . I have my world's best husband alongside me . He's my great support system and now i am feeling determined to go along with all of this . Thank you very much

I only just read the thread, so hadn't replied before now, but I was glad to read your update OP. You're doing brilliantly and you've had good replies on here. Everything that has been said about cluster feeding, baby feeding to increase your supply and supply and demand is absolutely true. Also, it helps to remember that your baby just wants to be close to you and that sucking is extremely comforting to them.... It's your baby's favourite place to be in the world. Some of the sucking will be just for comfort, and it does help to know that in doing so, your supply will be increasing. The first month is the hardest and it gets easier and easier from there. Well done!

ThePricklySheep · 04/03/2021 19:45

I don’t mean to introduce doubt, but are you sure your baby is actually feeding all the time? Mine used to fall asleep and carry on gently sucking, but wasn’t actually feeding. It helped when I could tell the difference! I’d stick my pinkie in and unlatch her. And occasionally be able to then put her down.

jorhat · 04/03/2021 19:48

@ThePricklySheep when im in my cluster feeding hours and i try to put him to sleep he wakes up and starts to cry... other than that he sleeps after feeding good sometimes

It does sound fine to me. If you want a bit of a break, try getting DH to walk around with him fir a bit to see if he'll settle Smile

jorhat · 04/03/2021 19:54

@BunnyRuddington is it possible that after 6 weeks too im facing the samething... cause im counting every hour for this phase to end and its my only motivatiom

Trey to put your feet up when you feed and watch your favourite TV or read a book or use MN. Things will get better but it might take time.
